Change layout depending on OS? B.face
« on: Fri, 07 August 2015, 02:37:08 »
Hi all!

I've been trying to figure out if it's possible to change layout depending on wich OS I'm using? When I use OSX at work I'd like alt and win to trade places, is this possible or do I have to use a work around with some app for the OSX?

Regards

Hi!

You have two options - use an app or get a programmable keyboard and set up a different layer with the keys swapped, then every time you went on the Mac you'd have to hit a combo like control, shift and M for Mac mode (made it weird so you don't press it accidentally!)  Much cheaper and easier to use an app I would think, unless you already have a programmable board.

I don't know anything about Mac but had a quick look and found

You can also remap modifier keys in the Keyboard System Preferences pane.
mentioned here which sounds like a good place to start :)

+1.

You could set up your board for Mac hardware-wise and use AutoHotkey to remap it for Windows.

Or get a programmable board with layers that can be toggled.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

You can also open up the Keyboard section of the Mac System Preferences, and swap the behavior of the modifier keys there. No need for any keyboard-side changes.

i dont know anything about the b.face pcb more than its korean, but if you know how to flash firmware on it, you might be able to get pimp it with TMK firmware,if it has a atmel chip on it.

When in doubt, buy another keyboard.
