Hi from Thailand :))))
« on: Mon, 08 June 2020, 17:31:21 »
Hi, I'm a broke ass collage kid from Thailand, got introduce to Custom Keeb since early 2019 but didn't really gave it much attention until January this year, I've been quite a lurker in this forum so I guess I will introduce myself here.

I'm studying game-dev and is in my senior year right now, I do have other hobby that I love as much as keyboard such as cars and bikes. I'm also a big weeb ;) I got introduce into this hobby through a Streamer/Youtuber called BeastrollMC, he got his custom keyboard built by TaehaTypes, I didnt really give it that much attention back then, but one day I rediscover the keyboard unboxing video from BTMC again and decide to check out Taeha channel out and was instantly hooked :P I haven't really gone "that" deep into this rabbit hole, sicne I still only own 1 keyboard but I've also join a couple group buys already which is nice I guess

Hi $W4GK!NG. Welcome to Geekhack.

What board did you get? What switches have you tried? Which do you like?

For my first board I ended up consulting KBDFans (like most people did) and got a Tofu65, as for switch, I came from using MX Blue my whole life so I went with a polar opposite, a silent linear Sakurios. I like linear in general after trying my friend Gat Red Chinese board. I haven't try any good tactile yet so I dont know if I like it or not, so I'm really looking forward for a local mech meetup right now so I can try out multiple switch :)))

I haven't tried Sakurios, hopefully I will some day. I also haven't even really ordered directly from KBDFans before either. Tofus always seem like a solid option. Gateron reds are pretty nice though, in my estimation. I think I like the weighting of their yellows just a bit more, since MX reds are just a bit too light in that they actuate on accident too easily. I used to love MX blues myself. Now I can't really stand them compared to vintage clickies or Kailh box thick clicks.

I'm no tactile connoisseur myself, but some of the best tactiles I have yet felt are Topre 55g, MX clears, Kailh box royals, and Everglides. I haven't really tried any of the fancy boutique MX variants, unless Everglide counts.

I need to go to a meetup myself for the same reason.
