bro 3+ hours is obscene. they need to start having those movie intermissions again with movies this long. it's probably one of those movies that's worth seeing in imax. i saw dune in imax and it was a great experience.

Honestly I thought the first one was forgettable at best

I will wait to see it, probably go with the wife to see it in IMAX since I have a Fandango Gift card that would cover the tickets - not a fan of crowded theaters.

Sorry for (most often) sounding negative, but no. I boycott the Avatar franchise and everything Cameron does from now on for having introduced bad "3D" with the first Avatar movie, which almost killed movie theatres.

Tp4 put on dat n95 mask, and saw Avatar, on thursday morning.

Honestly, the cgi was like, impossibly good, you look it like, whhaaaaaa how come rtx 4090 no look like this. The Raytraced water was insane.

48fps worked pretty well, but it jumps up and down because some scenes are 24. A bit splotched on some transitions.

3D is well done, the projectors have much higher dynamic range without the glasses, but tp4 can wait for the home version.

The plot, idk, you don't go to kfc for culinary excellence, you go to eat fried bread doe that happens to have chicken in it.

But, the plot's not bad, you can tell it's a large large setup for the coming films.  Kind of like Dune, but obviously, way more action packed / lively.

Very excited for the home version to come out, take those effects with HDR highlights, it's gon' look super gud, much brighter than the projector can get.

Avatar 3, 4, 5.  the success of future installments is going to hinge on the plot much more than the current.  This will be a huge challenge for the writers,  but heck, one could assume they've hired the best writers so. should be fine.

Av 3 was filmed with 2 to keep continuity etc.  I'm still on the fence if I will actually go to a theater or just wait to add it to my home server (that's going to be one big a$$ file too).

I thought the first one was overrated and underwhelming. Probably not going to bother with the second
