I don’t mind the idea of a more grey base as opposed to the usual beige, but please leave the legend colors in tact. It’s just not a SAT set without those sexy, blue front-printed legends :)I am of the same opinion too. Would love to see this come to life with amazing legending
I would like to see the legends from 3000 used over 3004 as well.
Get rid of the horrible homing bars and I'm in. As for colours, my personal preference would be for the OG Cherry look. That is something that I don't think can realistically be done and I personally like scooped and barred homing keys.
I vote for keeping it as close to OG as possible. Both in terms of legend colors, *and* keycap colors. If OG is beige, then keep it beige. But that’s just my opinion.

This x100. If you recreate it but change it then I don't think it deserves to be named after SATYup. At that point, I'd be considering a name change for the set. I just think there is scope for something new rather than rehashing old sets. Those keysets were made when keyboards were all beige but now there I so much variety that we needn't limit ourselves.
Something like this would probably be best staying as close to the original as you can. Though I must admit it would be cool to see you design an ePBT set that uses icons for all modifier keys and not just the 60% modifiers. Not that many people have responded yet but text+icons seems more popular so far which is different to the original design. I'd personally prefer text+icon as well so that there are more options to mix and match modifier keys since 9009 already covers beige coloured icon mods.

I think an epbt peacock esque set would be freaking incredible i'd be very interested. Is jump on peacock in a heartbeat
I would really love for this set to happen, but I am not that confident in epbt sideprint, which this set needs for it to be done well. This is something that I've stressed to KBDfans as well but the samples I've received for Kuro/Shiro has sideprinted legends that are much cleaner than they were for BoW. I agree that it will make or break the set.
Has EnjoyPBT ever done side-printing?

Yeah for example EnjoyPBT cyrillic had Prt Scr with blue side printed Sys Rq.
I believe they do. But their scooped keys happen to also have bars. I would also like scoop-only keycaps, TBH.+1
Votes are still pretty split with regards to OS key preferences but the win 95 logo is leading.Yeah separate numpad is great
Something that I am considering if having win 95 key as the main OS key but adding 1u diamond keys for hhkb layout and 1.5u super keys for WKL where a lot of people use control in hhkb position but it looks odd with 2 control keys on the left side.
Also looking to split the kit into core + numpad like I am doing for Kuro/Shiro.
How does enjoypbt sound? I got a set, a japanese pbt alpha set (not sure if enjoybpt), which sounds annoying high pitched, when compared to gmk abs, or to oem vortex pbt.I personally like the sound and feel of them but your preferences may be different.

I just asked if this sets sounds sharper, higher and more acute than gmk abs. You didn't answer :(
Is this the same as the Peacock set by HammerWorks CRP being sold on Massdrop now?It is not. They're two different PBT keycaps makers.

I've just confirmed with KBDfans that epbt can do purely barred keys so we will run with that.

I think you will find the community split on what's preferred. But EPBT might want to rework their scooped design.
See my Reddit post demonstrating the problem here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/b08vog/enjoypbt_homing_keys_impact_switch_housings/
I personally like scoops, but I assume fixing this will be pretty expensive, so I'm happy to settle for no scoops.

OMG I was considering to use silent switches. Is the only solution to Dremel the key?
How can such a low tech thing like a keyboard have so many variables? Why people can't just copy what it works? Is that so difficult? Just look at box switches. They were too big and still destroy keycaps. And now this. How can this happen?
If the OG was icon only, why does this need to be icons and text? That's strange.
When does the GB start?Way too early to confirm but what I can say is that it will definitely be after Kuro/Shiro and Extended 2048.
Beige/white is a good classic color scheme, but I would like to see what other colors are possible with PBT personally. 2048 with its cream background color is a welcome first step of innovation. :)There have already been a few non beige epbt sets already like bow, Grayscale, slate and kuro/Shiro.
Added a snapshot of my progress. Alpha legends are done and the next thing to do is to place side printed legends and then finish off the mods.Looks nice. Will you create an international kit?
I'm aiming to finish the first cut for prototyping by the end of the week.
Probably not because it is already based on a particular set of ISO legends.Added a snapshot of my progress. Alpha legends are done and the next thing to do is to place side printed legends and then finish off the mods.Looks nice. Will you create an international kit?

+1 for icon mods to keep it as OG as possible.Sorry, icon+text won out in the survey.
Also hoping for R5 but that'll require new molds.

the Y key should not have > if the ansi left shift doesnt have and option for <Good point. I think I'll go with an extra Y rather than adding a < to the shift.
either make an extra Y without or make a extra shift with <
I think one non-original addition that could be nice is a blue accent kit to match the blue sub legends.I think that could be nice, just for the Esc and Enter keys. The question then would be whether to use the mod colour like GMK Blue Alert or alpha colours for the base key.
Can we get full HHKB support (1.75u CTRL and 1u pipe key)?Whoops. I remember deleting an extra alpha coloured key because I thought it was related to international ISO because I hadn't added the sideprint yet. I'll get that fixed.
Can we get full HHKB support (1.75u CTRL and 1u pipe key)?Updated.
Blue accent keys, I like. Will it look good with blue spacebar or just stick back to OG feel?I think that would be a bit overboard. Even the blue enter might be a bit much in some cases.
I like the blue enter; would be down for a matching blue spacebar and arrow keys myself.

I’d prefer to keep it understated as is and hopefully keep the price down.

Czech ISO and a blue enter? You have ALL my attention! ;D
EDIT: I would like to point out mistakes in the print on the key right next to P: there should be the / symbol instead of { symbol and there should be a + symbol on the number 1 key above Q.

It seems that few people are wanting more accent keys. What I can do is remove the numpad and 1800/CP compatibility from the base set and bundle that with accent spacebars, arrows and windows+diamond keys.
This would leave compatibility for standard 60%, TKL, tsangan 7u, HHKB, 65% and 75% which is pretty much what most people in this hobby use.
Was the € print on the E key considered? It is not included in the original set but the € sign accesible through AltGr is default option in many ISO layouts (including the Czech ISO layout..and this set is in Czech ISO). Since basically all AltGr options are printed in the down right corner of the caps the € sign should be printed on the E key as well. And the & symbol on the C as well? I think it makes sense but I'd like others to chime in to see how they feel about this as well.

Yes, & is also accessible through AltGr on the C key. But it is slightly more complicated. If your TKL layout is 87 keys the Czech layout (the Enter is no ISO here but that's irrelevant) looks like this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Keyboard_layout_Czech.svg (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Keyboard_layout_Czech.svg). Notice the differences: the key above the enter key misses ¤ symbol but this symbol is accessible through AltGr. then there are the three keys between M and Enter. These in combination with AltGr give from left to right: < > *. But these symbol can be accessed more easily if you include the 88th key with the sacrifice of shorter left Shift (and because we can, we add the & symbol as well). Then you get the layout we see in this group buy and there is no need to print the AltGr default options on these three keys between M and Enter (also, it is incredible clumsy procedure to hold AltGr and then press any of these three keys from default finger position).
Conclusion: It really depends what people here decide to do. The current state of the prints with the mistakes out of the way is great. I think it would look nice and continous if the C had the & print.

The mistakes are fixed but the legend on C should be &, not €. € should be on E key. I really like you agreed to compromise and added the blue spacebars to the GB!
What kind of blue will the sub legends and accents be? In the Deskthority photos the sub legends look almost navy, which I think would be nice and differentiate the set from Blue Alert.I'm wanting to match the sideprinted legends. There are a few sets of photos of the original set on deskthority. I think the one that you have been looking at has the side of the cap in shadow which makes the sides darker than the tops.

I just noticed the original set has no writing on backspace, enters, shifts and tab but your legends include writings. I personally think only symbolic legends look better and it is also more authentic.

Several of us have voiced this before, but according to Gok, Icon+Text modifiers won in the poll he conducted a while back. Sad given that I too think purely Icon mods would be more authentic, but it is what it is, I guess...

I personally would have preferred the legends to stay as close as possible to the original 3000SAT (i.e. no sub-legends on C and E), since this is meant to be a replica in the end.
Aesthetically-speaking, adding more sub-legends takes away from the OG board's somewhat sporadic sub-legends, which I am a big fan of. I would be supportive of making those keys optional, however, similar to what you've done with the Z key in regards to the <> legends.

I second this. The problem with scooped keycaps is the biggest reason that prevents me from getting more epbt sets.
Maybe put the blue Esc, ANSI Enter and Iso Enter into the Accent Kit?That's probably a good idea. I'll change that for the next kit revision.
any update on this?Still waiting on samples. Any feedback about the current kit is welcomed though. I've been waiting for more before I do another revision.

May I suggest adding R3 PgUp and R4 PgDn keys for the 65% and 75% crowd? Probably to the addon kit, for those that like Home/End/PgUp/PgDn more than Home/PgUp/PgDn/End...
Yeah agreed, my money is ready to be thrown at you
Just czeching in as well to voice my support! Usually I'd argue for better ortho coverage, but it probably wouldn't meet MOQ, so I'll make do with misplaced legends (like R2 PgDn instead of Tab and R3 End instead of Esc).MOQ works a bit differently with EPBT. As long as the base set meets it, they will produce the required quantities for any child kits.

Since this is just a beige set, I could consider doing an ortho kit since it would also be compatible with any of the standard EPBT sets.

Instabuy if it had an international kit. Looks good! This is a Czech based kit and changing that would be sacrilegious imo.

when are you now planning on running the gb?Maybe end of June now or beginning or July I think. Don't want to rush it and there are some really nice keysets coming out next month.
assuming it won't be end of may as you don't have samples yet.
EDIT:
I would also like to double check that this set would work with the EnjoyPBT LED Keycaps if I were to want my Lock indicators in the Caps keycap
Definitively joining this would it be also possible for a space bar kit?Do you mean like 1.75/1.25/2.25 for split spacebar?

Would you consider doing a R1 1u blue accent Fn key? I think that would look really good, especially with a split right shift setup.I'll consider it becsuse I'm a fan of quirky options like that. I liked how th RGB mods looked on one of xondat's boards so options like that could be pretty neat.
looks like ePBT is having hard time to produce samples. bit worry about QC of massive production. They are pretty maxed out with production runs. Although I think that QC and producing samples aren't correlated, I think there is a minimum standard that KBDfans will uphold. There may be issues but you can usually count on KBDfans to sort it out.
I've updated the main post with an ortho kit.
I'm not too versed in what is popular so I have text based modifiers except for the backspace key because the word "Backspace" would need to be split onto 2 lines which I thought looked odd.
Let me know what you think.

Most important basics would be:
- R1 2,25u and 2,75u spacebars
- R2 1,25u Tab
- R2 1,75u Enter
That covers vast majority of the 40% keyboards using the "standard" 12u wide layout (AMJ40, Candybar etc.). Rest of the neccessary keys are already in either the base or the ortho kit. If you wanted to also support some other keyboards, then on top of that you'd need:
- R2 1,25u Enter for the MA42, UT47, Tanuki
- R3 1,75u Backspace and R2 1,5u Enter for the Minivan and it's variants
- on top of that R1 1,75u spacebar for one of the Minivan layouts and for Vortex Core
- R2 1,5u Enter for the Daisy and Pearl (Pearl also needs a second R2 1,5u for Tab)
I'm not taking into account "wrongly" legended keys, e.g. if you'd need a 1,5u R1 Shift, then you can just slap a "Super" in there and it's fine, priority is on row profiles. Overall it's 10 keycaps to cover absolutely everything I can think of, quite a stretch from the current 26 key ortho kit. If you could include at least the base 4 and then one or two of the "even weirder" boards, that'd be awesome. I tried sorting them by potential audience, since UT47 and Tanuki just finished successful GBs (and it's just one key) and Minivan is always in stock and fairly popular. Hopefully I haven't forgotten something important or made some blatant mistake.
This would go so well with Keycult no.2. Nuts!
This looks fantastic, I thought the blue front legends would be a little darker, but it might just be the lighting in the og pictures. Can't wait to get a set for myself!Nope, they should be darker. The reversed dyesubbed accent keys are also quite a bit off.
Sample is good with crisp legends and quite accurate colours but not too sure about the blue on the accent kit. Looks a bit too bright and saturated to me.

ya the gap on the keycult 2 would be super noticeable, :D

Agree. I vote for a more navy-like blue.
Any chance to add a blue ansi enter to the add-on kit?
I'm thinking about moving all the blue keys into the accent kit so people that aren't interested in the base set can use it with other sets.

I think there are already a lot of icon mod kits out there and the blue accent kit is meant to pair up with this set.Was gonna ask about this then I read your comment.Any chance to add a blue ansi enter to the add-on kit?

Great idea and how it should be tbh. That way people with EPBT Greyscale or whatever can use the accent kit as well.
Icon only mods would look better aswell. Both 9009 and greyscale use enter keys without text, combining those kits with the accent kit from this gb would look a bit wierd because of the text on the enter key.
How long is this expected to run. I see its supposed to start this month, trying to figure out how long I would have to save up the cash.
Wait so long.
When can we buy?

The samples are on their way to me now. After I check them, I'll be making some small adjustments and getting some colour samples remade to tweak the blue. I want to have the colour sorted before we head into GB so that everybody knows exactly what they are getting into.

The blue needs to be a tad darker but I'm pretty happy how this is looking.
Some of the alignments need to be fixed and the "Sys Rq" green is off so hopefully, they will get it right in the next batch.
Well, it looks pretty good. Just a tad darker on the blue will be perfect.
Too bad it'll be fixed to being darker.Well, it looks pretty good. Just a tad darker on the blue will be perfect.
NO! That blue is perfect.

I really do like the blue from these few runs. What will you do with the sets?

I think it's hard for us to tell what the blue really looks like in person. I'll let Gok be the judge. For me, blue is one of the hardest colors to accurately capture in photos. That and yellow... and orange, and red... I can't get any color to represent well in photosI'll be taking more pics later but I can say that I am not happy with the quality of the spacebars that I've received. The base of the keycap looks faded and the colour overall is inconsistent.

There seems to be a divide between those that like the current blue and those that want it darker. I'll be going for darker on the next round of samples and I'll decide which I like best after I compare them.
Regarding capturing colour in photos, I'd say white is definitely the hardest because it is affected so much from lighting conditions as you can see from my photos of Kuro/Shiro. You always need a frame of reference for it to get an idea of what it looks like in person.

Oh well, it's your design. I still dig it. Been thinking it would be nice to do a bunch of accent sets from epbt. You could do all sorts of color combos with a set like 9009.
But the whole idea is to remake a Cherry G81-3000SAT keyset^ Pretty much this tbh.
No I totally get it. And I tend to start with accent moods and then ditch them for the plain look. My 9009 set is currently all beige. Are the accents keys a bit dark?I am actually wanting to make them darker.

But the whole idea is to remake a Cherry G81-3000SAT keyset so gok is working towards that. There's an accent kit in the OP that's not in the original keyset. Overpowering this keyset with non-original add-ons... I don't know if that's really worth it. It's a beautiful keyset by itself, even without accents.
Must buy for me until I realized there is no split spacebar kit. Is there any plan for it?

I am pretty sure you can just get a L9 Split spacebars from Hineybush spacebar GB since he has extras for pre order. https://hineybush.com/products/gmk-og-spacekeys If you are willing to put extra cash to the side it will work out :).
What is the "ICE-3000sat" that KBDfans is showing, it's an all white version of this set, will that be an option for this GB or just a sample for separate GB?It's something KBDfans wants to do but I'm unsure whether they will be running this alongside or as a separate GB.

Where did you see that?
Just out of curiosity, why is epbt unable to do scooped homing keys?I have epbt caps that are scooped and have bars as well. Dunno if all epbt are made the same.

Anymore updates?I'll be updating the set once I get a list of key profile that epbt can make. One of the changes is including convex 2.25u and 2.75u spacebars.
Also, Cherry logo cap PLEASE! :thumb:

When is GB projected to run?
That is correct. Better to wait now rather than to have delays during the GB (like Kuro/Shiro).When is GB projected to run?
Also interested in this. We got the samples but you said it was to light of a color blue? Does that mean we have to wait for the second sample before the GB starts or? :-X

Kuri/Shiro is expected to finish production around Sept 20. See: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=101576.msg2809057#msg2809057
Any ballpark estimate on the price of this thing?
ne update avail? ;DI will be working on this again once Kuro/Shiro is shipped which it still hasn't :(
Were you planning to have a spacebar compatibility kit available too?I wasn't planning to originally but I'm a fan of the Alice layout so I think I will.
I have no clue where I'm gonna get a 2.75u/2.25u pair to match this set that doesn't say shift on it.

Alpha coloured rather than accent. Kuro/Shiro and extended2048 had seperate barred and scooped homing keys that they seem to have gotten stingy with, but hopefully they make all these improvements available to every set. Were you planning to have a spacebar compatibility kit available too?I wasn't planning to originally but I'm a fan of the Alice layout so I think I will.

Big IF that it will happen, but supposedly Simple JA Enjoypbt will have convex spacebars in 2.25u and 2.75u. If Enjoypbt can do convex now please try to get yours in convex as well.
Any updates on this since Kuro Shiro has started shipping?I've started updating the kits and my Pantone samples have arrived and I should be able to submit the revised design to epbt by the end of next week.
I've updated the kit to add an "Ergo" kit that should provide compatibility for Alice layouts but should also satisfy split spacebar users.
The next round of samples have been ordered and I'll be trying out Pantone 2955C for the blue which is quite a bit darker.

Looks good. You should throw accent split space bars in that Alice kit.

Yup it's based on the classic Cherry beige color scheme.
Two remarks:I'll need to think about including the extra pg up and pg dn keys. They aren't that common and I'm trying to keep this set pretty trim. Regarding your second suggestion, I'd prefer to keep them roughly the size they currently are because it'd be more consistent with general symbol sizes but also, as you mentioned, it would be closer to the original.
- R3 PgUp and R4 PgDn (R2 and R1 in EPBT's notation) are missing. Could you add them to the base kit?
- The háčky (diacritics) on ěščřý etc. in the number row are very oddly proportioned — they're way too large. I realize this this is how they were in the original set, but you should take this opportunity to improve on old Cherry legends, as you've done in the past.
the GB for this set hasn't started right?Still waiting for the next round of samples.

Is it possible that this would be delivered around the same time that the 7V would be shipping?Hard to say because these will have totally independant timelines.
Hi there, what is the thickness of keycaps? Thanks.
Same here! Just waiting for more news once gok has more time.I'm still waiting for the next prototypes. The reversed dyesubbed keys are giving them issues still.

Worst case is that these becomes black legends on blue so that they no longer need to reverse dyesub them.
this set still have a pulse?I've been told that EPBT are remaking all their moulds which will supposedly help with the quality of reverse dyesubbed keys. I'm waiting for them to finish this so I can try another round of samples for the accents.

New moulds might help with the spacebar and warping issues as well as provide proper convex spacebar support for smaller spacebars like those used on Alice layouts.
Possibly. New moulds would be great, but don't they already have smaller convex bar moulds? SimpleJA had them
The biggest change is that the accent keys will be black on blue rather than reversed dyesub because the blue was proving hard to produce to a reasonable standard. This set just keeps getting better.
Would you consider adding just 2 R4 1.5u and 2 R2 1.5u keys to the ergo set? that would actually give the kit some lightweight boardwalk/ergodox support as well as non-ortho 40s support for some of the more adventorous layouts.I remember EPBT not having moulds for non-ortho 40%
legends could be R2 shift, enter and r4 esc, delete or blank.
Edit: i think those keycaps in standard cherry colors could be a buying incentive for people who already own a base kit in similar colors

In that case, I could run a proper 40s kit since moqs for epbt don't work the same as GMK.Would you consider adding just 2 R4 1.5u and 2 R2 1.5u keys to the ergo set? that would actually give the kit some lightweight boardwalk/ergodox support as well as non-ortho 40s support for some of the more adventorous layouts.I remember EPBT not having moulds for non-ortho 40%

Ivory was one of the first I believe to run more 40's compat, and should be shipping out soon, so there's a definite chance that these keys are now possible from epbt.Show Image(https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1994/3097/products/nomad_2400x1350.png?v=1590614692)
Feel like I saw a little peek of this on the 65% teaser. Both looking good. That was the old sample from way back. Still waiting for the new prototypes to be completed.
When do you plan to run this GB? I imagine it's gonna be between the 7V and Type-K. Also, really excited for the Type-K and how you made it compatible, keep up the great work!It will run whenever I'm satisfied with the samples. Currently waiting for new moulds.
Any chance of a NORDE/International kit? This kit is from the ePBT 9009 kit.The original set is qwertz so I was wanting to keep it that way. The other issue is that international kit requires too many sideprinted legends if it were to match the set.
There's no IC form so no other way of providing feedback.

I wonder if the new moulds are completed? Any estimation GB date?I haven't heard anything yet. They have been working on the dark blue accent key though but they haven't got that right yet.

Hope this set comes to fruition.I should be getting some new samples in the next couple of months.
Is there any chance however that you would be able add another R1 1u Alt to the basekit, so the keyset can cover proper HHKB bottom row key layout; in this case — 1u Alt, 1.5 Super, 7u, 1.5 Super, 1u Alt?
Hope this set comes to fruition.I should be getting some new samples in the next couple of months.
It will hopefully run this year.

is the extra B in the spacebar kit going to have the sublegend too or it's going to be a regular B with no sublegends? No sublegend. The idea is to have the sublegend version the right side so it relates to the N and the non sublegend version on the left so you don't get { {} happening.
Really digging this set. I'm curious though, will it come with an F13 key or not? I don't see one in the new renders on the GB sale pages, only in your OP in this thread.Yes, KBDfans forgot to render it but I have confirmed with them that it will be included.
I've been waiting for this set since the beginning. Happy to see it live.Because I don't have a direct line of communication with the manufacturer, I'm leaving KBDfans to handle the GB and all information I receive is secondhand through them anyway.
But truth to be said, I am concerned that OP didn't bother to open proper groupbuy topic. Also, counting from announced start date, for the first week or more EU proxy didn't put anything on their website - no product page, no announcement that it is coming soon, anything. A bit messy situation, barely a word from gok_nz.
Are the homing keys still barred and scooped like normal ePBT sets? Or just barred like GMKs?It's barred only.
The side prints are very nice, probably not my colorway to go for but really consistent design
I was under the impression that the side-printed legends were blue, based on the renderings. I received my sets and the side-printed legends look black to my eyes. Maybe I missed something in the discussion.?They are meant to be blue. Epbt made them too dark when they first shipped to the KBDfans and they had to produce fix kits. I am assuming that your kit doesn't have the fixed keys so you should contact the vendor you bought it from to rectify the issue.
