Just for everyone's information, this was purchased for $150+shipping from Cindy, elecplus on DT in the past few weeks.

Nothing against you personally Elocutive, I just think people should know what they're bidding for - A keyboard that was sold for an incredibly reasonable price by someone who's helped the community immeasurably by finding (literal) tonnes of very rare IBM boards and sold them for very good prices.

Why do you insist on trying to make a profit on everything people are nice enough to sell you?

I'd love an SSK, and $150 or thereabouts is about the price I can afford.

This one has a sensible starting price, but I could understand if it goes much higher, given the desirability of the SSK.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

He's not the only one talking about resale in that thread.  It makes me sad to see people rush to buy at a good price knowing that they will try to immediately flip for profit when there are others who want to use it.

i hope it comes out tomorrow as well but I don't think It would crush anyone as they would still be collectable, unicomp layout would be different if pics I saw are true,  and the price was still great on them regardless.

Still think it sucks some  people bought them just to resell though.

It is theoretically possible their delay in releasing it is tied to them going back to the classic SSK layout and not the one they had in the announcement.

There was a huge thread on DT where the person who created those renders was talking about it.  He wasn't officially working with Unicomp as far as he revealed, but was great at making renders.  The new layout "SSK" is a render of his.

Let's see if I can find the thread...

Cindy on DT sent me a message today saying there was one left and asked me if I wanted it. I had to decline, unfortunately, because I couldn't afford it. It's probably been sold to someone else by now though.

Edit: She hasn't sold it yet, but she's still going down her list of people who want it.

I got on of those, a 1991 beige label, and although it was new-in-box, almost half of the rivets were broken.

Keep that in mind if you are planning to keep it sealed up for re-sale, or for the apocalypse.

Also, they come without cables.
They may have gagged Trump.
They didn’t gag me.
They can’t gag me.
