Cherry G80-2000HAD teardown
« on: Wed, 02 July 2014, 20:55:51 »
I got this board a while ago.. It had always been one of those boards I wanted ever so much, but I thought it would be impossible for me to get. Thanks to sixty and tinnie (and kbdfr, indirectly) I was able to get it.

I've been meaning to clean it up a bit and take some photos of it.. I only just got round to it. It's a truly amazing keyboard. It's also a huge pain in the ass to take apart and put back together due to the card reader, screen, and the seperate F keys :))

I won't link all the photos here since there are quite a lot.. For all the photos please look at the flickr album here.

What does/did the screen do? Also, it looks heavy, how heavy is it? :P

No idea actually. I haven't tried to do anything with it. I know that sixty was able to use it as a calculator :

Very cool board!

What does the bottom right key (next to the calc on/off key) on the left column do?

It weighs 2kg. The metal backplate is very light.

I've added some annotations to the photos.

I have absolutely no idea what any of those buttons do. I haven't yet tested them out. Also, I doubt they would do anything on a modern PC.
