Designed by a good friend and entrusted in me to run.

Busy Town is a deskmat to feed your nostalgia, a redraw of the classic 90s city rug, you’re almost guaranteed to have played on one of these at some point in your life. Dig up the old hot wheels and zoom around, this is sure to keep you entertained during those long zoom calls!

-Classic print

-Most roads are wide enough for a hot wheels car

hi guys,

love the idea here. a lot of requests came in for a mat like this with panels, but i never got around to dedicating the time to make it up. i did do a lot of research on this design though.

the design on this mat is SUPER similar to this on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Click-Play-Non-Slip-Playmat-Large/dp/B07DLCTLRZ

that design is def copywritten.

i'd suggest making some adjustments to further differentiate it from the above design on amazon! glwic! love to see this turn into something great.

This is excellent and I will enjoy having this on my desk. Definitely a lot of fun.  :thumb:
 
As far as copyright goes, there are dozens and dozens of this style on Amazon alone. Not to mention eBay, Etsy, and individual stores. Some even being almost exact copies of each other. So unless there's a specific copyright registration that can be produced, I doubt this is going to run into any issues. Besides, this is a mouse mat which is technically a different use.

The copyright issue is something that was heavily researched and finding any info on IP regarding this design is very hard. Design has been around forever at this point and finding the original owner of the IP is near impossible, furthermore it's printed on literally everything at this stage so chasing it up leads to dead ends everywhere.

I'll research click n play, but I'd be very surprised if they're the original owner of the copyright. They're certainly not the only brand selling this exact design, other brands such as "Something Different" for example.

Whoever the copyright holder is, if they're still around, doesn't seem that interested in protecting it. Lots of products are available with this print available on it, plenty of them selling from within countries with respect to copyright too.

That said I definitely appreciate the feedback and the extra lead to research. Thank you for that.

fair enough. im not like a copywrite lawyer (or any lawyer lmao). i agree that it is not likely the design owner will pursue any action.

i suppose the reason i didnt make it was bc i wanted to do everything from completely scratch, but in a similar style. honestly, that's a challenging/time consuming project

Thanks for the support, and I appreciate the feedback. Would love to see your interpretation in the future and am definitely keen to support that too if you get to it.

I wish I could do something like that but the logistics and potential for something to go wrong is too high, even just bundling stickers with a mat proved to be a painful experience so I want this to go nice and smooth
