I'm sorry y'all didn't make the 50. I hope my dropping out my potential four sets wasn't the cause.  My whole point for pushing for those keys was to allow me to reasonably stay in, and drop the cost for everyone by $3, while giving you two "free" keys to play with.  Thanks to y'all who researched the Wyse DARK ~ and tab keys!  At least now you can see that my aesthetic isn't completely left field.  Wyse was on board with it too!  ;-)

Hey guys, things have gotten pretty hectic for me quite suddenly here, so I may not be around too much this weekend. I'll do my best to keep you all updated as things progress, but understand that said updates may be slightly delayed.

My pretty much brand new Wyse keys.  Did some rough color matching with the photograph captain took and came to the conclusion that the closest colours we will get are:

BFU - Blue legends
GBA - light grey keycaps
GTV - Dark grey modifier keys (GG that was proposed before is overcompensating for a yellow saturation thats actually inherent in new keys)

"For just a few dollars more...." Sounds like a spaghetti western.

I found a place online that has those PS/2 compatible WYSE 'boards for $30. Anyone interested? I prefer my WYSE to be $20 or less, but if it's PC compatible, maybe it's worth it.

If we wait until next week, I may be able to get a non-yellowed, ps2, WYSE keyboard to do a proper color comparison on... And also add several orders to drop prices significantly. But if time is more important than money and precision....

Would adding 14 kits help?

So FWIW here are the closest color matches I could come up with.  I tried to take photographs but with the lighting in my house it's just pointless, so I scanned them instead.  I'll try to get some shots in daylight tomorrow.  GBA and GJV seem closest for light and dark grey, and BBI for blue.  Honestly, none of the dark greys I found were spot on, but I think GBA is very close.

Captain recommended GTV for dark grey, which I didn't even pick out as close.  Like I said though, it's night time and the lighting in my house is not ideal for this kind of thing.  I'll include GTV in my pics tomorrow.  It's encouraging at least that we both independently chose GBA and BBI (I didn't look at his pics before going through my colors).

Hmm, if we asked nicely, do you think SP would tell us what they used (and also thereby confirm that they made them)? I'd be happy to mail in a sample to SP if need be. I do have one unyellowed set, and yellowed set, and one retrobrited set.

I don't think that SP made them.  At least not mine.  I'm pretty sure that my Wyse50 predates their existence.  I do suspect that SP got their molds from Wyse though, but not ALL of Wyse's molds, as these from the Wyse50 have "fins", like buttresses, between the key wall and the stem.

The gal with the keyboards flaked on me today, but PROMISED that she will send me the info first thing in the morning.  We'll see.  I'd really like to do a color analysis with NIB plastic!

GTV/GJV, they both look about the same "close" as the other, but I was trying to compensate for the potential yellowing of the underside of my ancient keys.  Someone mentioned that brand new keys have a bit of yellow too, which is why I leaned toward GTV; it appears to be about the same brightness as GJV, but with a yellow balance, while GJV has a purple balance - at least that is how I'm seeing them in the light of these wee hours.

My deal for NIB Wyse boards turned out to be for rubber dome versions. Feh!

So, without Tab and Tilde I can't be in on this GB. I'm bummed. I really like the look of Wyse. Oh well.

I guess y'all should choose your colors and go for it.

Alright, so I doubled all the orders, and it puts us at..... 82 Base Kits and 34 Addon Kits! Now, I know that there are probably some of you out there that probably thought doubling your order only pertained to the Base Kits and what not, so I'm going to give you guys until Friday to settle your orders with me. My week has been crazy and I don't want to compound things by rushing this buy. If you want to drop an addon kit or two, let me know, though I don't think I want to let it go below 25, so do that sooner rather than later. If any late folk are reading this, you can now still order until Friday. I'm also going to split the cost of a prototype among your orders, because I want to make sure the colors are right, and I am a jobless 18 year old. I'm gonna shoot for GBA and BBI, I think. I should have a WYSE set by the end of the week, so I'll do a comparison myself to make sure I agree with that.

GBA seems really close.  Might even be the exact color used, since we've confirmed that SP did make these.  It might be wiser to do a prototype in the dark color since there's no slam dunk match.

Haha that was actually me who was doing those comparisons using photoshop and Captains shots.  My first conclusion was gtv, gba and bbi but then changed to gjv, gba and bfu based off further photos, then back from gjv to gtv...  I think its safe to say gba is locked in?  I'd be happy with bbi as those darker blues on dark grey would be better.  The dark grey seemed to change per picture though but from your pic there i'd definitely say gjv.

Oh, sorry Denonic.  I waffle between the dark greys too.  In the end it's not going to be perfect. :-/

But GBA is really really close, if not a perfect match.  Either blue will work I think, but the brighter BFU is not quite as close IMO.

Damn... GSY is also pretty damn close too now that i cross section them in photoshop...  I think i had a similar impression with captains later pic also.  Once photoshopped to be right next to each other it was the closest match.

Scrap that.  Upon closer inspection and different light, it looks completely different.  Needless to say it was a bit worrying.  Upon more research the enter key I bought had BBI being considered but BFR was the final color used instead.

Can't wait... got a set of yellowed WYSE caps soaking  right now.

I thought I was going to be using a somewhat yellowed set from a WY-85 ISO layout.  Instead I've just stumbled across two minty ANSI layout WYSE boards.  Sweet!

The order-doubling from a while back is going to pay off... :D
