I would like to mention that the first GB was a secret/private one. There is no guarantee that it will open up to international orders either. The only reason why I'm interested is that I have a friend that can proxy for me. Don't give up hope, there still may be a chance.

Yep, no guarantee or clear understanding how this one will be run. I too am in a similar situation though in having an avenue. Still, I really dislike the idea of hijacking this thread with all this.

I'm pretty sure that you're still in the second batch. They still need to make a board for Elton so he would be in the first batch.

I honestly don't enjoy the design of the aluminium bottom without the acrylic windows.. really makes the board perfect, to me at least.

I personally think they're pointless and defeats the whole purpose of the cutout in the aluminum bottom. The cutout is meant to give a spot for you to easily pick up the board to move around, filling it up with an acrylic piece no longer allows that.

They might give less gripping area, but the ridge that Ducks' newer designs have along the top bezel aids in being able to grip the board.

Now in his v1 designs like the Lightsaver and Lightpad, well... Yeah, it has entirely smooth sides, so that would be troublesome, but not with these designs.

I've also indeed made my own by hand with a dremel and some tinted polycarbonate for my Lightpad.

Thanks man. They aren't perfect but they did come out pretty nice! :D

I didn't realize the Lightpad (and Lightsaver v1) had much larger inserts compared to Duck's Orion v1 - and further v2 designs.

I was ready to use my spare set of inserts for it but then--nope, didn't fit.  The tinted look is pretty unique though. I like it! It's like a pair of eyes gleeming into your soul through the darkness. :P

I made a visual template after taking some measurements, but I did it all by hand. The only thing that I botched up was in fusing the two pieces of poly together to make the inserts wide enough for the Lightpad.

I used too much ambroid pro weld and it created some runs down the middle. Very hard to see for the most part though.

I thought of redoing them, but it was HELL doing it all by hand like that.
