Keyboard of the Month - December - Nominations
« on: Sat, 24 December 2016, 16:16:50 »
OK, I thought I would actually get this up in time for once. Christmas Eve at work is dead, so here we are. The FINAL nomination thread for 2016. The three boards with the most +1s will battle head to head to fight for the 12th spot in the poll for Keyboard of the Year!

Last month's winner was Kurplops planet 6, after been nominated countless times, his most recent project finally came through with the win.

I appreciate the interest will probably not be there over the week surrounding Christmas, so I hope everybody has a happy holiday, has fun with their family, and gets everything they want :)

Please remember to select boards that have been posted on the forums this calendar month, and remember to +1 all the boards you like! Happy hunting!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Loving me this Black Bird. Gateron PBT Blank Keyset. Aristotle/Zealios combined switches. Had some fun with the LEDs. Nubb cap to top it off.

Widdlekitty's Blackbird.

I saw this. The photo is fantastic, it really shows off the RGB LEDs well. Don't know how people are going to feel about another Blackbird in the running though after Jokrik's win in October :P

I think part of Jokrik's win was the matching of the colour schemes! Widdlekitty's picture shows off the length:width ratio of the blackbird much better.

But noted, and another option would be the following in my opinion (especially considering the buzz it's generated in December across all communities)

2. Ramabae65 w/ HACK'D by GEEKS (Aluminum base w/ brass) = 4lbs 1.8oz approximately.

Oh damn, are they new Rama 65% boards? I've not seen those before... Rama does some great work.

It is! The groupbuy will be in January with both an acrylic diffuser bottom piece and an aluminum bottom.

+1  Original design and good execution from somebody with little keyboard building experience. Not being a gamer, I wouldn't know the effectiveness of the design but like that the builder knew exactly what he wanted.

I'd like to self nominate my custom case, custom BT4 PCB, custom firmware keyboard.

"Don't know how people are going to feel about another Blackbird" - that's what the voting phase is for :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
