Check! I've been digging a little, and the oldest ones I've found are from may/june of '87.

Doesn't clikcykeyboards.com keep a database on all the IBM Model Ms?
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I remembered this other thread about ssk production dates: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39128.msg761926#msg761926

seems like you have a really old one, but don't know if it's the oldest :)

/edit
here is the list from clickykeyboards about the ssk: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Amwr_8tmy8pZdDAtWExCUzlma2Qzc0hCY3hzUExFZFE#gid=0

Forward the number and a picture of the label to Clicky Keyboards for his database of Model Ms

Yeah, they do.  Oldest they have is june 87, but the database they have on ssks isn't very big (only 30 entries), so I'm assuming that only scratches the surface.  I've looked basically everywhere I can think of (geekhack threads included), and haven't even found one with the same part no. as this one.  I figured the only other place to check was this forum and deskthority.

Forward the number and a picture of the label to Clicky Keyboards for his database of Model Ms

I sent them a message on fb, but the database submit seems to be for certain part numbers only, and mine isnt listed in the dropdown here:http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/pages.main/pageID/3 (unless im looking in the wrong place).

edit: w/ a little firebugging I was able to add it to the spreadsheet with the proper part no.  I hope they don't mind! :O

To keep all of the information in one topic...

I picked up another 1390359 that appears to be the earliest production SSK found yet.
Part No. 1390359
ID No. 2000132
Date 02/04/1987 (4 Feb 1987)
Plt. F2
origin: IBM / (c) IBM Corp. 1984

The chip version (1390538) is one step up from the chip on the 1390359 engineering model recently found by HULLO8D (1390537). The chip is soldered. The bottom of the case is like later SSKs with the speaker opening. The 'Enter' key is printed 'Return' with 'LF' on the front. The key cap characters have more ink than later boards (like other early Model M boards).

I'd characterize the board condition as 'poor' (case, keys, heavily oxidized steel plate, 15 broken rivets) and the external damage is 'recycler damage'. However, the board has all keys and can be cleaned up and bolt-modded and will be perfectly usable.

My oldest one is merely 13-Oct-1987 - so quite young in comparison!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
