I got a watch and it works really well.  I like it.  I've had this one for about 6 or 7 years I don't know.  I remember taking it to Wal-Mart the first time and the lady couldn't remove the battery cover.  Oh well, I went to the jeweler from then on.  What do I know?

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My Nixon El Dorado, got it in 2004 as a present to myself for finishing 3rd year engineering.  On the 4th battery now, but for $250cdn it's still the longest lasting per dollar watch I've ever had.
Currently GMMK Pro: lubed 68g U4T, FR4 plate, extra gaskets, etc

New watch day ;D
Can't see in the picture but this is a MIJ one  :thumb:

+lubly deep blue sunburst dial.
+Love the polished hands and markers.
+Polished ring between the crystal and bezel looks awesome (even if it makes a dial looks a bit small).
+Domed crystal
+Hardlex covered bezel insert (120click unidirectional bezel).
+brushed rehaut
+homage of Blancpain Fifty Fathom, but not a blantant copy.

-Diver "look" watch
-folded endlink
-lume of the hour markers are so small that it may as well not be there.
-I.hate.Seiko.5.badges.

~Push pull crown. uh ya. diver LOOK. I do prefer push pull crown on non-divers though.
~Wish there was a real ISO diver version.
~Day date. Would prefer just date or nothing at all.
~It is summer so I'll probably keep this on the bracelet for now. This will probably look too small on the wrist with leathers though.

Edit: extra potato pix. As usual, didn't clean the watch ;o
Edit2: Currently running about +2SPD

I like that watch alot.
Though I came to a realisation, I have 3-4 watches and one nice watch and I barely ever wear them... I managed to get into a routine a few years ago of grabbing my watch like I would my wallet and a week or so of leaving my watch at my SO's house and that routine has gone and I'm struggling to get back into it...

...I like watches but idk

Hey, I'm thinking of getting one of these Maratac's they've had on massdrop.  I like the Pilot Mid.  What do you guys think?  I want mechanical (Japanese movement or better), not TOO big, Sapphire front and clear back.  $250-$350.  Are there better options out there?

My wife just got me an Orient watch for my B-day 2 days ago, have you checked them out? It was the only 1 of 2 companies watches that are still made in Japan but the other was Seiko which cases are produced in China (at least at the store she got it from)

Thanks! i'm like totally in love with it but kinda scared because i've been so used to smashing using g-shocks that i'm not sure if i'm abusive to my watches or not lol

There's green and yellow glass available on other models too. Not that i really care but it would have been nice if they matched the green on the watch and used the green bottom glass as well.

I was so scared with my Tissot as well. When I scratched the body, I almost cried. I was so disappointed at myself. The strap is taking a beating as well, so I might have to stop wearing it other than on special occasions :(

I found a good deal on the black on black, and a honey-brown Horween strap for it. So in the end I will have the light brown strap on black body. I think it looks classy, but my wife liked the silver a bit better (of course it was over $100 more).

I love the Orient Disk. I have a SS rainbow marker version somewhere... Yes, I just admitted that I have a rainbow watch

Anyhow, dressy Orients always make me instantly want to hit the buy now button. Here is one (Orient Millennium). I'll post other ones when I get around to it... whenever that is. :p

Edit: Just noticed it has been about 3 months since I got my Precisionist. Accuracy update: Running just over 1second faster than time.is. Summer is here so it should slow down a bit. I'll check back in another 3 months.

Nice.  Does it use their own movement?  Any comments on their in-house vs. Miyota vs. Swiss?

I've heard rumors of Orient's black coating being significantly less durable.  Have either of you seen that happen?

Foreword: I don't follow the hype of in-house movements. Some of the most prestigious brands uses ebauchs from other companies.

Orients use in-house movement. AFAIAA, the base Orient movement design of all Orient auto movements are based on a Seiko movement (this was before Seiko became the owner of Orient). Orients are generally much better regulated out of the factory than most Seikos. The worst of my inexpensive Orients runs -6seconds a day. My more refined Orients runs better than that. I can usually keep them running for a month and be less than a second off just by setting it down dial up or crown up. Orient winding rotor is a bit clunky, but they seem to be more efficient at winding than the Seiko rotors. One thing I really don't like about Orient movements is the day change button. Uh. Just UH. Other than that, I love my Orients. I think they're easily the best bang for the buck in the watch world (too bad their low end "diver's" are not ISO divers).

I am not a big fan of Myota auto movements. Even their mid range auto movements are a bit clunky and only have single direction winding. Don't get me started on the date change. It is really grindy. The Myota movements in my Citizens are better regulated than my lower end Seikos (7S, 4R). I only own a few Myota powered watches (other than my analog Casios) so my experience is limited.

ETA movements are good work horse movements. They're a bit more refined than the Japanese counterparts, but they're also more complicated. There are a lot of really fine Swiss movements. You should probably go to watch snob sites and get more details on them if that tickles your fancy.

In regards to the PVD coating... well, Orient and Seiko share many technologies. I don't see much difference in durability compared to my Seikos. Most of mine have held up fine except my baby monster's bracelet, which has a chip in the coating on the clasp. TiCN coating is pretty tough IME. I've hit my PVD BFK hard on the bezel, and all it got was a dinged bezel. Coating is still there.
