Is there any chance they'd be able to provide an ISO kit option as well? Even without language specific keys (so it'd only need 2 1x blanks, a 1.25x shift and the ISO enter) it would make the set far more attractive to the EU people on the forum.. Surely there must be as many if not more people wanting an ISO kit than tsangan?
Will these sets come with a 6.25x spacebar? or only 6.2x like the last GB?

Yeah I don't think they do the enter but it can't hurt to ask. Also if they were to get the mould made like they did with the 6.25x spacebar for the last group buy, surely it could only help them get more sales in the future?
The ISO kit would require a 1.25x shift key in row 1 profile, the same as zxcv (the TaiHao bottom row is a different profile to other OEM bottom rows and so isn't suitable for the zxcv row) as well as a 1x row 1 blank (same as any other 1x on the zxcv row) and a 1x row 2 key (same as asdf row keys).
I'm also hoping that there will be an ISO Kit as I'm totally interested in this!!Yeah, would be great. But let's see what happens ;)

well i have thought about requiring GH ID for the poll
but then, if they uses secondary account, or uses other's ID
i wouldnt even know about it.
so ultimately, if someone wanted to cheat, i couldnt stop them still
i do not think this IC worth spamming votes as we can simply get the other colours next round .
while i think members from this community is mature enough to control themselves.
i may wait for 1 week or so before i finished communicating with taihao about the details
and try my best to offer as much choices as possible in the GB, including the tsangans and iso kits
Also, it is quite funny that taihao asked me where im gonna sell the keycaps after the inquiries...:))
as some vendors from china report to them that some other vendors are selling those keycaps too cheap, affecting the profit of the rest of them
also, they told me that the delivery of keycaps is now around may or even after june as their orders are full
maybe they are trying to lure me to place my order sooner

They are just the inverse of the 1st generation

I'm pretty sure it is a complete set. I think the other keys may be stacked below the ones we see in each row. See the picture of the keyboard outfitted with them below the "rows" picture?

You see a lot of wishing and complaining for group buys, and they rarely, if ever, succeed. This is a very feasible product. In fact, I think it could be better than the possibility of going a SP group buy because Tai Hao's limited offerings will keep the choices limited.
However, I worry it could go horribly wrong-- too many choices would lead to big problems. Either nothing comes close enough to MOQ, or the group ends up having to buy a bunch of unwanted sets to meet MOQ, raising the price per unit.
Here's a thought-- a "rolling group buy".
We do one poll to decide two or three of the most popular colours, then do a group buy on them. This focuses everyone on a small number of choices, and increases the odds of hitting MOQ.
Then in a couple months, we do it again-- new vote, new GB. If demand for a colour scheme is satisfied in the first round, then it won't win the second round poll, letting people who wanted a different colour scheme get their day. This is a good plan, similar to what berserkfan had discussed with me
The main problem of this cycle of GBs is that, through these series of GB, the GB starter would be exhausted in cycles of processing orders and shipments, and would end up quit holding GBs.
What berserkfan had suggested was to involve a vendor which can provide services of sorting and shipping after GH volunteers have taken the orders and money from the community
We give vendor MOQ(so he can get products with relatively less MOQ hence higher flow of product for his shop), and some service charge (like $1 per set?)
while vendor do the hard work, collecting product, sorting, shipping.
Chinese vendors are favourable due to low manpower cost and as larger amount of products produced in china, it lowers the shipping cost from factory to the transit point that sorts our order

Taihao said that the colours of alps are more likely to be those of Cherry MX ones,
What they replied is that, those colours(generation 1-4) are the colours under mass production, and they offer lower price
If we hand in new designs to them, they will try to work out a sample and will start producing after confirmation

Oh god this starts to get very interesting. Hopefully the ISO Enter is right and we can get an ISO Kit. I'll keep a close eye on this!
Is there a lower price available if we hit MOQ 500 or does it stay the same with the two MOQs you have given in the first post?
How about ordering 2 Sets, do I need to pay the transportation fee for both or just once as they ship to the same place? I get that the tax for the sets will be paid for both respectively.

Yeah, merging them together will help with MOQ definitely. What exactly is in the ISO kit? ALso, if they have 1.25 shift you should also include that in the tsangan.

Ive been trying to get a set. it rarely goes on classifieds, and when it does, it goes ASAP
reselling is no problem so buying more than you need is an extremely viable option
I agree with Pacifist's previous suggestion-- the all-inclusive pack-- main kit plus all the addons-- would probably come in near or at twenty dollars. Cheap enough to be an impulse purchase, and comprehensive enough to eliminate any "Well, I'd buy it but it doesn't fit my 1987 model board with odd spacebar and shifts" complaints.
I could see getting two and I'm sort of trying to switch from MX back to Alps.
That's why I was thinking "eliminate the add-on pack" and just sell a single set that consists of "104 + add-on pack" -- yes, a lot of people will end up with ISO keys they don't need, but the ISO people will have no reason to worry about "what if I sign on and the addon pack doesn't hit MOQ?" It also makes it a nice choice for people with hybrid boards like the G80-8133 and 8200-- US boards with a semi-ISO layout-- that often lack a good direct replacement.
I don't think the price increase is that big of a deal-- as long as it stays within the current territory. Considering a full lettered 104 set from Signature Plastics is $78 (based on the price of a main set + numpad set from pimpmykeyboard.com) you can still easily say "Get three Tai Hao sets for the same price!" even if the price rises a few dollars. Now, it may be a bit more of a concern for people buying a few dozen sets for future resale, but again-- it's still cheaper to stockpile this stuff than SP stuff.
I think this does have some things going for it compared to the first Tai Hao GB:
* The original one was stuck with a lot of technical concerns. I know when I first saw "7x spacebar" and then "yeah, we can throw some blanks in to get to a conventional bottom row", it was a big turn off. This is "normal 104, fits almost any modern board, no surprises."
* The quality of the product is now known. I've not heard anyone have anything particularly bad to say about itheir first-round sets. Pretty much solves the "too good to be true" price-related concerns.
* The colour schemes are, frankly, a bit more compelling. They were okay replacements for stock caps, but nobody was saying "I have another group buy set on my board, but I'm all excited to replace it with those". On the other hand, I'd replace my CCnGs for that Dolch set.

And I think if we want easier hitting of moq of add-on pack
We should keep the ordering colour within 4
Last time, Elton's gb is at $8 usd for each set which is a extremely cheap price
And barely hit moq of 500 and 400 for each sets
And this time the price had risen for 75% for the ANSI set only
Therefore I expect there will be less orders
If we only go for the 4th generation
The possibility of successfully running this gb will be much higher
Or an alternative is that
We only accept orders for 4th generation at first
And if it goes right and smooth , we add additional colours
and we are only going for the 4th generation at the first stage of the GB.

it will be safer for us to go for less colour first
or otherwise we would have to wait for a very long time until we reach the moq
if we found that its even hard to reach 500 MOQ for the 4th generation alone
we may consider getting at least moq 100 for the ansi set in stock (300 if not in stock)
so we can dump the add-ons and order only ansi
and move on to the next colour
azure and red on white are the 4th and 5th rank colours

The difference is that this high MOQ.
With a SP group buy, the MOQ is so low as to be meaningless. Even if only 17% of people want an ISO kit, they generally can get one.
My thinking is "if they can't get the ISO kits, will they be willing to buy the ANSI set anyway?" If we lose too many people over the ISO issue, it could compromise the buy, or limit the product mix it can offer.
I agree - put it all in together.
I need centre-stemmed caps locks for my Ducky boards but off-centre stemmed stepped for my Cherry boards.
For the sake of like $2-$3 extra, might as well bundle in all the options in the base set so that we get more orders.

One could argue we should also replace the current Win Keys because they are really ugly - adding stuff just never ends end then we suddenly look at 30$ total...
In my opinion we should leave the sets as they are and just go with basic ANSI.
In my opinion the main question is:
Who really needs all the Tsangan Keys and ISO keys and will really use them?
Everybody who has a nice Korean Custom that needs an off-center stepped capslock key, a 7u spacebar and 1.5 mods will most likely use a GMK set anyway. Or do you want use these OEM keys on a vintage Cherry G80 that comes with doubleshot keys in Cherry Profile anyway?
Regular mordern boards like Ducky, Filco or QFR will only need the basic ANSI set anyway...

Hey having Tsangan kit without the off center stepped CapsLock included don't make sense much. To all that are against over adding $4 more per set for keys they wont use because they only have ANSI board I can understand their point of view, but please consider the people who will jump on these sets if they have ISO,Tsangan + Caps Lock kits are good 20-25% of the buyers.
Many of you that complaint for the $4 price increase are joining lots of SP and GMK GB's that cost $100+ per set..... I personally don't need the ISO, but I would love to have the Tsangan + CapsLock, and why not add the ISO kit so we can make other peeps happy too.
I voted for 6-7 keysets and I intend to buy them as long as this time around they are more adaptable, yes I have a Korean board and its off center Caps Lock with Tsangan bottom modifiers and I also joined
Elton's GB that we had Tsangan but x7 space bar was not correct and there was no stepped off center Caps Lock available.... so I cant use the Tai Haos on my Korean board, I'm sure its exactly how people feel with ISO boards too that they joined the GB.
Price is good as it is with all add ons, lets make this GB as a step up from Eltons and have 98% of buyers 100% happy, the other 2% will be with the different language layout but that has always been the issue with all GB's.
For $4 more I say lets go all out and don't forget to add the "off center stepped CapsLock to Tsangan kit". To all that never owned TH sets and not sure about the quality of the sets I can tell you one thing, the quality is superb with excellent price tag.

Would the MOQ going to be 100 for the ISO/Tsangan kit? I was under the impression it would be 500 in which case I highly doubt that will be reached unless it is attached to the rest of the GB.I also thought that it was MOQ 500 for the ISO/Tsangan or only ISO Kit. So it would be great to reach that and if I understood correctly it would be four more dollars to the normal ANSI set? This isn't that much of an increase or does it show some other way? Otherwise if the ISO Kit won't be included I'll probably won't buy any set.. Unfortunately.

I really don't need ISO but I want it in because in the previous GB 20%+ got left out because there was no proper Tsangan with CapsLock and no ISO. My guess: People in America ('Muricans) will only need the US ANSI 104 set for most popular keyboards, so they can take an attitude of "Who cares about ISO?"

Also, the cost is only a part of it for me. The other thing is, as mentioned earlier, the MOQ is only 100 on ANSI in-stock sets. So we could potentially get these happening much sooner and easier than trying to get 500 MOQ :thumb:

I voted in the poll, but I would like to share my suggestion to see what people think:
Separate the kits. For add-on, commit to buying 500. That's 500 x $4 = $2,000. Then present the prices in tiers. Set our own MOQ for group buy purposes, say 200 to keep price reasonable and give people assurance they are not committing to buy unless price reaches $10. So prices would look like this:
Order qty Price per order
200 $10
300 $6.67
400 $5
500 $4
Obviously, for any quantity below 500, there would be more units produced than orders, and we could just divide up the extras evenly, have a lottery to see who gets extra sets, or sell them later and donate proceeds to GH. If we got 250 orders, everyone could get two sets or do whatever else with the extras. My guess is that people who want the add-ons wouldn't mind paying slightly more. I mean, come on, these add-on prices even at the 200 order mark are still way below what similar SP sets generally cost.
I voted in the poll, but I would like to share my suggestion to see what people think:
Separate the kits. For add-on, commit to buying 500. That's 500 x $4 = $2,000. Then present the prices in tiers. Set our own MOQ for group buy purposes, say 200 to keep price reasonable and give people assurance they are not committing to buy unless price reaches $10. So prices would look like this:

300 $6.67
400 $5
500 $4
Obviously, for any quantity below 500, there would be more units produced than orders, and we could just divide up the extras evenly, have a lottery to see who gets extra sets, or sell them later and donate proceeds to GH. If we got 250 orders, everyone could get two sets or do whatever else with the extras. My guess is that people who want the add-ons wouldn't mind paying slightly more. I mean, come on, these add-on prices even at the 200 order mark are still way below what similar SP sets generally cost.

With frequent use, the caps should get shiny in around two-three weeks as expected of ABS keys.

Agreed, that's the one thing I dislike about these sets. The Windows XP/7 logo is the best one to use on keycaps. I think the '98 and 8 logos look pretty ugly.
I sort o like the "head on window" logo-- it looks like a Chinese character (which one?)

Might look kind of funny to Chinese users though. Imagine seeing "field" instead of the windows symbol on that key.
Note that 田 isn't just any old field, it's used for fields in which rice and other staple grains are grown.

Yep, the packages I receive from Hong Kong are usually packed in brown envelopes that are closed with a bit of string. I haven't had anything go missing before so it should be pretty reliable.

Cuz if I have to withdraw the money from PayPal to my bank account(into hkd)
and pay through the banking system

Also, paypal will actually collect 3.9% or more for each transaction.
So they actually collects twice (once when you guys give me the money, once when i give taihao the moeny)

What exactly is this (http://img01.taobaocdn.com/imgextra/i1/16731204/T2n_cTXshaXXXXXXXX-16731204.jpg) picture showing? Is it a single set of blue and gray TaiHao double-shots? It looks like there are extra blue caps so is it a mix-and-match of two sets? I don't see any mention of these keycaps in the poll. I'm confused.
I thought they looked like Ducky dye-subs, but I was confused because the blues in that picture look darker than the TaiHao blues in the picture above it. I guess I'm mistaken.

I can get different of sizes of box from post office in HK
the smallest one can take 2 packs of blister packed keycaps with 1-2 pack of add-on pack i guess (but they will be kind of pressed)
but ziplock should be easier to put in a carton box, less volume
so blister packing looks better, and give better protection to the keycaps
but it is $1 more expensive and increases the shipping cost (packing material and shipping cost cuz it takes more volume)
