the only thing that i'm kind of surprised about is how high up the actual plate is to the point that I can see the side of the PCB, if i put in shorter standoffs would I immediately run into clearance issues?

Well exposed in what way? It might be an issue if you can touch it as it could get annoying. Could you take some pictures? I'm trying to picture where its exposed :))

Yes they will be compatible, no idea on the second one, and i think he said he will put up some tutorials, but not sure when. Maybe someone else will put them up. I might make one in a few days if i have extra time.
