I think its great that programmable keyboards allow users to create whatever layout floats their boats.

I wish more people shared that sentiment. People on r/MechanicalKeyboards will look at a 40% posted and put 0 seconds of thought in before commenting something like “I can’t use this, so it must be unusable. You’re stupid”.

One of the reasons that the hobby is so awesome is that there are about a billion different keyboards with different layouts for pretty much every type of person and use case.

I hope the new version has VIA compatibility.
In my version you cannot configure the second layer with the proprietary software.

These won't be available at unikeyboards right?

Hey mate, It won't be available at UniKeyboards. The vendor list is above and it is finalised. I feel that it should cover most regions.

These are in IC on Unikey's Discord right now. Unless something changed very recently, they should be available from Uni sometime in the future. When that is though, who knows.

I think its great that programmable keyboards allow users to create whatever layout floats their boats. But with a full size keyboard on my desk, I don't need any of that. I have four decades of muscle memory built up on various incarnations of ANSI-104/QWERTY, and so there's no micro-improvement that is going to make me any faster at typing. Besides, even though I often do a lot of typing because I'm a coder, I already touch-type at over 80wpm and there's nothing in my life that demands I be faster, so all the bespoke/customizable layouts in the world are simply wasted on me. Hell, I don't ever use the right-side mod keys, and there would actually be no point in programming them for something else because my muscle memory ignores them and will continue to ignore them until the day I die.

That was be one hell of a high. Pretty sure my typing speed would triple and I'd discover all sorts of new ways to view the world
