Looking for 104-keys keyboards with specific layout.
« on: Thu, 27 October 2011, 12:45:54 »
Hello all, I am new here and want to ask a question.

I like Mitsumi keyboards, but after years of using Mitsumi I want to try something new, less cheap.
Currently using this one:

Can you advice me any keyboards with EXACTLY same physical key layout (!important) and mechanical switches?
Maybe even with notebook-keys, with scissors-switches.

UPD (for those who will look for same keyboards) :

1.Clicker F21-7D (without orange keys) aka Inpad WK750 aka Wintek WK750
http://www.inpad.com.tw/goods.php?act=view&no=4553&plus=qa_list
Cherry Blue switches, stupid orange keys.

2. SteelSeries 6Gv1
Cherry Blue switches. w/o NKRO.

3. ASK6600
ALPS, USB. Black.

4. BF-I-113
ALPS, classic white/gray colors, funny big font. PS/2 or USB.

5. BTC 6431-BL

Cheap, flat, scissor-switch. USB. I am using it now in pair with Mitsumi Ergo.
http://btc.ru/card/149/

6. Black Left-Handed Keyboard
DS88-4/8861-XPU-B-V2

Very interesting, mechanical (which type of switch?), version with big left shift avialable.

7. Solidtek KB-6600ABU
ALPS, clicky, not-so-pricy

8. Siig Inc USB Desktop Keyboard
Mechanical (which type of switch?).

9. KR-6251 Full size USB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Mechanical, cherry

If you need Russian, the Zowie Celeritas is the only easy to find MX board I know of that has Russian as a standard option. Cherry also apparently offers Russian layout, but I have never found one. ALPS based board in both Russian and the exact same physical key layout are easier to come by.

Thank you for fast replies!
harrison, yes, shortened shift is a huge fault. New or used - does not matters, I need just a model name for search.
lysol, thank you, but Zowie has shortened shift too. Russian or not - does not matters too, important is physical key layout only. Even Das Keyboard will be fine, if it will have huge L-shaped enter.

That Mitsumi layout is very very close to the F21-7D Mechanical Keyboard I have (link is in my signature).  The only difference is the right hand modifier keys on mine are smaller and the space bar is bigger, but the same big enter key and the small backspace key, along with the keys all being in the same places.  They are blue alps based switches.  I'm pretty happy with mine ... it's a bit loud (but most mechanical keyboards are).  You can find them on ebay.  Unfortunately all the ones I've found on ebay so far only come with those stupid orange rubber WASD and arrow keys.  I swapped the keycaps on mine, but if I could find another that came with the normal keycaps I would probably buy it.

I'm pretty sure Ascaii on this forum had an ALPS board for sale in that layout with Russian in the classifieds somewhere. You might pm.

Gerk, looks really good, especially without those toy-like orange keys.
lysol, he is a keyboard-dealer? Maybe I ask him later, I must make a choice first.

Offtop: what must I do for getting right to use [img] tag?

I think you need at least 15 posts or something like that before you can include images like that.

Yes, it looks MUCH better without those silly orange rubber keys.  Also can type on it much better too :)

Ok, I'll try to reach 15 messages.
Added Clicker as first candidate in first post.

P.S. Really, it is strange - I have right to make a spam link like "Buy cheap V***gra Enlarge your p***s online", but cannot post a harmless picture.

Pictures are often used for tracking purposes so they know what forums the bots got into.

I finally found a SteelSeries 7g with my preffered layout! Yeehaw!
But I have a question to owners of SteelSeries.
[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 32462[/ATTACH]
Why left Win key is marked with some special sign, not Win?
Is it working as Win key or as something else?

http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-7g - As described, that key acts as an Fn key for the media layer embedded in the F keys, so no Win key functionality.

Also, a little self-promotion: if you're in the SoCal region, I've still got one or two 6Gv1s for sale. These have the same layout as your Mitsumi with a regular left Win key, but don't have NKRO like the 6Gv2s or 7Gs. Selling for $35 a piece.

REVENGE, very good promotion and very good keyboard, but I am in St.Petersburg, Russia. If it is not a problem, I will buy one. Thank you for another interesting keyboard anyway.
slueth, lysol, thank you - no way.
One of my most common hotkeys is left-handed Win+R.
I have a lot of .lnk files in special PATH-guided folder, and I can start any program just in second. Win+R tc will run a Total Commander, for a sample. Ctrl+Esc+R is too complex (and will not work).

I have bought last one - BTC 6431.  It is really good and reliable keyboard for fast typing, my fingers feel lighter.

Still want to have something on Cherry switches, but not so hard now.

hi, and excuse me for bumping this topic
i am used to the same key layout as the OP but prefere low-profile keys
so here's some things i've found with the same layout
first of all, my 3 keyboards at the moment:

the silver one is low-profile (slim) and is very nice
the one in the middle is Sigma and pretty much sucks
the Unitek is okay

now, long ago, i bought a cheap slim keyboard which turned out to be the best keyboards i've had.. i typed very fast and with almost no typos
the keyboard was "SuperPower" and had a silly logo, well it's long gone now
i started looking for it but couldn't find anything till i saw that logo, then with lots of bouncing around the corners of the internet - i found the full name and model
Codegen SuperPower KM-1001

iirc mine had cyrillic letters as well, but otherwise identical

it took me some time to realize that the keyboard i've had under my nose (the slim one from the first pic, which i'm typing on right now) is actually almost the same
i never considered that since the keys, and specifically the letters.. the horizontal offset is 50% which is rather uncommon:

and has the 3 annoying buttons above the arrows which i remove because accidents ;]

today i found this:

which has the same characteristic of the 50% offset as my current keyboard, but lacks the 3 annoying buttons
and i found this same keyboard but with the 3 buttons in a black variant:

and shown (on the website) as Prestigio KM 1001

i didn't know this here is all about expensive mechanical keyboards

oh well ;D

Hello!
After many years I am here again and with the same problem.
My beloved BTC-6431 is dying now. I think it's okay for the keyboard which are in use for 7 years.
Right now I am trying to find another one with the same layout and scissor-keys (I have tried mechanical keyboards and understood the scissors-keys are better for me).

I have found these variants (KM1001 from the Antto message has no scissors):

- BTC 6431
- BTC 6390U-BL
- Enermax Aurora Keyboard I European version
- Enermax Aurora Premium KB007U-B

But there is a little problem. All of them are out of stock, and I cant find them even on the flee markets.

Also there is A4Tech KV-300H  - scissor keys, but not exactly same layout, I will buy it only as a last resort.

Can anybody please recommend me another scissors-keys keyboards with this physical layout?
