Tonsky approved this project by explicitly applying the license they did to the font. They could have picked any license for their font. They picked this one. He approves anyone to use it for commercial use explicitly by applying that license, which is something they did knowingly, wilfully, and with express knowledge of the implications.
What you probably meant to ask was either "has he endorsed this product?", or "what does he think of this product?", or "was this product made in cooperation with tonsky?" or something similar.
That said, since ePBT is producing it, I'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole. I bought "Less, but better", and I'm never buying another ePBT set unless someone tells me they've retooled their factory.
Even then I would not buy this set, because the designer has cut way too many corners, has no idea how to produce decent kits, and has completely ignored community feedback, and hasn't posted an actual IC at all.
