A friend of mine got himself a Magicforce 49, which is a small and affordable keyboard. Being small, it has a weird layout and sometimes makes no sense. He wants to have QMK on it, so I designed a PCB which fits loke a glove. I know it does because I have printed it out and put it in its case. I have not ordered any prototypes yet, but I will once I hear some feedback from you.
Well, here it is:

It is a pretty basic PCB, and has no lighting effects like the original does. You can control the brightness levels, change every key there is, have layers, macro's, all thanks to QMK which it will have. The backlight effects are probably possible, but it is kind of useless in my opinion.
If there is anything you'd like to see, let me know :)

I’d be down for one or two. I love the layout of this board but I’ve avoided it because of lack of programmability.

I got a magicforce 49 from massdrop and hate how its not programmable (why the split spacebar) so would definitely be interested.

Hey, like I said on Reddit you'll need to reposition your components around the controller. The decoupling caps (the 0.1uF ones) need to be as close as possible to the Vcc pins on the MCU. Check out schematics of other boards (esp planck/60/etc ones) to get a sense of proper placement practices.
Aside from that, this is a really cool idea - I love the thought of OEM replacement boards that're fully programmable.

Hey Hiney, thanks for your suggestion :thumb:. I have changed the placement of those capacitors.

Have you tested the PCB is working with the magicforce or only tested if it fits in the case?

I have no prototype yet so I can't say that it works but I am quite sure it does actually work. I have tested if it fits by printing the pcb outlines out and see if it fits. It does.

Any updates on the prototype?
-
I'll order one after the group buy of the Atom47 is finished, so that will take a little while.
-
Iso compatibly (I know I have to modify the plate, but I hate that the magicforce is only ANSI).
-
I would be interested for sure.

Ditto

I'll continue with this once I'm done with the Atom47.

Watching as well ...

The layout on the MF49 is even worse than the Vortex Core...
Small keyboards shouldn't be expensive, but they should be fully programmable! I would probably buy a MF49 if this GB ran.

yeah if this gb doesn't start soon I might just get a hasu usb to usb

Same here ... I'd repurchase a MF49 if this one came to fruition

How soon?
-
In the next few months, don't really mind just my magicforce is just sitting in its box atm because without programming the layout it almost unusable

That's definitely possible. Stay tuned! :)

You should give bakingpy a heads up when you start on this, he had a similar idea.

Hi! It's been a while. The design of this PCB is done, and all I have to do now is to order some prototypes. I'll let you know when they arrive and if they're working :)
Edit: I forgot to mention that it has south-facing LEDs and support for PCB-mounted stabilizers (though that requires modifications to the plate)

I am in for this 100%

I'd appreciate if you guys fill in this form. Thanks!

I got a few responses and I think I'm gonna run the group buy next month. :thumb:

I have ordered a few prototypes, they'll hopefully arrive next week or so.

Looking forward to this. Hopefully the prototypes work out. :thumb:

Looking forward with this programmable PCBs. Need new keyboard for travelling :D

Any status updates?
Only mod I'd like to see would be the option to replace the enter key with 2x single keys so you could get back the ; and ' and move the enter down to the thumb-row in place of the shift key.
