I was planning on getting in on this with my next pay, but I just had an emergency operation scheduled for next week, and I think I'll be off work too much to justify it.  If anyone is buying extra sets to sell later on, please consider PM'ing me!

i would normally say health comes first, but this is a GMK set, bro. postpone your operation and grab the set first, you won't regret it.

This is indeed the group buy of the century. I feel bad for any poor soul that misses it.  :'(
It is definitely unfortunate timing, but I've been dealing with the issue since September, so at this point I'm just thankful to be able to get it looked after.  Going to see if I can sell some of my other belongings to make enough to buy this, because I definitely want to support the people at CTRLALT and what they do for the community.  We'll see.  I have a few weeks I suppose.

Octagon - 62g Cherry tactile greys

Looking to buy my first keycap set that is over $100! Currently using thick pbt. Is the abs shine issue something to be worried?

If you keep using the GMK set up to 12 hours a day for 12 years straight, then maybe it will become somewhat shiny but you'll still be able to read the typeface upon the keys  :thumb: .

Wait for the keys to get a little shine and you will love them even more than new. Well, you should wait some ...years for that though.

With the US/CDN exchange I can't rationalize the entire set.

Basically any custom/kustom 60% keyboard would support a layout like that.

More than enough time to scrape some money together before the end of this Group Buy.

Just remember this Key-set colour-way will NEVER be produced ever again plus with the MOQ slowly getting there (have no idea really) this would be the perfect time to jump on board because reaching a MOQ to get anything made by GMK, is extremely rare these days.

Still in for this but it's looking like I'll be paying in the final couple of days, had some unexpected cash flow problems this weekend.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

You will have to pay a pretty hefty markup for Hyperfuse DSA, I was looking into it, as it is by far my favortite DSA profile.

I like the appearance of DSA caps, but truth be told, I would prefer to type on Cherry caps anytime; therefore, I think this upcoming Bunny's set would be all great. I only hope to have enough to pay for it, and for some other GMK GBs that I also want to support. But I will enjoy to check these nice pictures from time to time.

Looking at the mockups the legends will be placed in the top left corner similar to DCS Hyperfuse

Dear Mr. Moralles, and Mr. Willy, as you already know Cherry key caps are pretty much standard, and they are produced in a very particular and fixed profile, and their legends are double shot moulded inside each one. It means the legend is moulded first, and in a second shot the cap is molded over the legend, it implies that changes in fonts, or in their position is not just a matter of changing the position of a nozzle, a mask or a pad to print them over the caps, but to alter the molds. With other legend methods like dye sublimation there is much more freedom to alter the fonts, their position, or even have some icons as legends with very low cost setups.

That being said, Cherry caps double shot moulding will last forever, unless you have your dog chewing them for some fun, and their legends appearance is the crisper and bolder of all methods. But most important is that after you have experienced typing using these caps you may use others, but you will always know The standard is Cherry DS. After all your finger tips are the part of your skin that has one of the highest concentration of nerves, except maybe some other well known highly sensitive areas. Thus, you will feel the difference, you will feel the difference, you will ... well you got the idea. :)

Yo guys, anyone willing to educate an ignorant noob looking to buy his first set?

Hyperfuse looks extremely nice, and from (quickly) skimming through a couple pages, it seems like GMK is highly regarded. So some of these posts suggests that these would be ABS since GMK doesn't have the equipment to make keys in other materials. However, from what I've heard so far, ABS caps aren't as "desirable" as other materials.

Am I just misinformed, or is ABS from GMK just that much better?

PBT !> ABS. Its just the quality of ABS most manufactures use is a lot worse than PBT. GMK uses high quality ABS, which is better than any PBT, except for BSP's PBT, since GMK bought Cherry's ABS tooling and BSP bought Cherry's PBT tooling. GMK is the highest quality caps besides BSP.

Cherry caps are the only thick ABS double shot moulding available, as far as I know, and this particular combination makes a very good product that provides an above average typing experience, and has high quality and reliability. But this may be different for you, and your needs and likes. Only you can tell if you prefer this product over the diversity that is available in the market.

ABS and PBT are the most common plastics that are used for caps manufacturing, along with some POM caps that are a little bit harder to get. PBT has more resistance to abrasion so its surface is harder to get shiny with use. ABS is softer, therefore it can get shine easier. However, the material of a key cap is only one of its characteristics that accounts for a pleasing typing experience, to its appearance and overall feeling. The profile, legends engraving method, and thickness are as important, and in some aspects are even more critical. OEM, DCS and Cherry have cylindrical tops and their general shape is similar. OEM are the tallest and you can source thick or thin ABS, thick or thin PBT, and they come in a variety of engraving, including lasered, pad printed, die sublimation and double shot, recently also you can get double shot PBT ones, there are multiple sources for them. DCS are SP made profile that is similar to Cherry but is has round edges, the material is thin, and the main engraving method is double shot in ABS, recently, Matt3o is working in a first PBT die sublimated set. Cherry profile is available from IMSTO in a think or thin PBT presentations, and GMK is the only manufacturer in its double shot moulding type.

First post and first buy here. I just got done wringing out my wallet from a head-fi obsession and it seems likely I'll be flushing it down the toilet once again. ;-)

Can the cherry caps fit into topre switches?
I've been eyeballing this little guy: https://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=pfu_keyboards,hhkbpro2&pid=pdkb400bn

I'm also considering a Poker II since aluminum cases are somewhat easy to come by and I think these key caps would look great against an aluminum backdrop.
I currently have a Noppoo Choc Mini with Browns but owned a K65 with Cherrys before. I thought I had reached mKeyboard nirvana with the Noppoo until I found this site and now it's time to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Where would this set be shipped from if I were to order from a country in Europe?

First post and first buy here. I just got done wringing out my wallet from a head-fi and it seems likely I'll be flushing it down the toilet once again.

Audiophiles can spend, 30k+ on audio gear; I think you're safe here =]

10k would probably get you one of the best keyboard collections on GH but realistically 500-1000 seems to be the sweet spot where people are able to get a hold of their dream keyboard(s) with lots of extra goodies.

But no, these won't fit on Topre stems, unless you have a Novatouch. These will fit on the Novatouch.

They won't work with Cherry caps unless you get a topre slider compatible with MX Caps, and the Novatouch is a topre board that natively support MX caps, but if you want an HHKB with MX compatible sliders, you need to buy a Novatouch and swap out sliders, or pay about 3-6$ per slider if you want to buy 3d printed ones.
