Product Information

The CU75 and CU24 are the first custom mechanical keyboards developed by capsunlocked, and are the first to join the capsunlocked Originals range of keyboards.

Supporting a large amount of configurations respectively, the physical layouts of both the CU75 and CU24 can be customised and tailored to your specific requirements. However the customisation does not stop there, because once you have settled on your perfect physical layout you have the opportunity to customise the digital layout, with the QMK software. Want to swap Caps Lock and the Left Control key? No problem! Want to have a dedicated layer for your media keys? That is also no problem! QMK coupled with the large amount of physical configurations means that there is a level of customisation that has previously been unseen on a 75% and numpad.

Included in each kit is a Cherry MX Positioning Plate, however an Alps Plate is available as an optional extra. The Alps Plate will support the standard ANSI 75% layout only.

Both the CU75 and CU24 have solid, durable cases that have been CNC machined and anodised black.  Both cases are built up from two pieces of Aluminium that are held together with M2.5 screws, for added durability. Sandwiched between the case parts are the positioning plate and PCB. The positioning plate is mounted to the top case, meaning that no screws are visible when using the keyboard. M2 screws are used to hold the plate to the top case. When fully assembled, both cases sit at a comfortable 5 degrees.

Each keyboard comes with a selection of added extras, with a Mini-USB cable and microfibre cleaning cloth in each of the CU75 and CU24 boxes. The CU75 also comes with two-part screw-in, black 1.5u Aluminium blockers and a microfibre sleeve.

Both keyboards support screw in stabilisers, but do not support holtites or per switch RGB LEDs.

The CU combo is great, but too many great board GB lately.  It must be tough picking one over another.

I think it’s a great design except for the logo on the back. With so many other options, it’s the tipping point for me not joining.

I know what you mean, I often leave my keyboards upside down on my desk.

On a more serious note, any update on wether or not these guys are going to hit MOQ?

 :))

But yeah, I actually like the logo quite a bit and find it to be a nice modern design.

That being said I wished they offered something other than black which is what's keeping me from joining the GB.

I think one of the original defining characteristics of this design was lost when they couldn't address the weak underglow and they removed the nylon/polycarb base option. I personally don't find enough that is unique or special about this design to compete with the other more unique 75% customs or available market options (basic wedge with rounded chamfer corners is pretty subtle), especially at the price.

I also think that the 1.5u blockers haven't been shown off or promoted enough, since that is also a design trend that could be used to set this apart from the rest.

That being said, I am sure there are those who like the understated design, and best of luck with the GB and reaching MOQ.

There have been approximately only 20 units of the CU75 ordered.

I think since it's likely not going to make MOQ that it might be wise to take it back to the drawing table for a bit.

Between the visible machine marks on the logo & the screw holes overlapping into the bevels on the bottom there's a lot that takes away from the premium feel & the removal of the nylon bottom combined with the lack of colour selections for the case doesn't provide broad aesthetic appeal.

It's a really nice project, it just needs that last little bit of polish & tweaking to justify the price.

Thank you for the constructive criticism.

I think the points you have made are all valid, and I agree that this group buy will be reviewed. I guarantee that the lessons learnt from this initial group buy will be taken forward, to improve future projects and products.

I would suggest also exploring having more color options.  The black looks nice enough but being the only option seems kind of limited.

Very sad to see this GB not going through as well. What does this mean for the other originals like the CU30? I personally been waiting for the CU30 for a long time. I held off my purchase for a nyquist and have been waiting it through with my preonic.
