Yup, down it appears. There was this issue on another forum and it turned out in that case it was due to Imgur blacklisting the site since they could accurately detect where it was coming from over HTTPS (or something like that). Probably not that here but idk.

Whew, glad someone else made a post about this. All Imgur images are broken for me as well, all browsers. Definitely seems like a central/blacklist issue. How can we get this resolved? The media threads are missing tons of images.

this happens for me once a while, IF your really want to see the pic, try this trick:
Open image link in new tab/window, it will show an access denied message, just hit reload.
Unfortunately this trick will only work one-by-one

Currently, all https imgur links on GH are being returned with a 403 forbidden error (possibly banned?). As of Saturday, rknize has been looking into it in his spare time, but we don't currently have a timeline on when it'll be fixed. For now, you can use this (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=96340.0). If you're not on chrome, you should be able to use either of the quoted scripts in your favorite userscript extension, I believe.

Guess I wouldn't have expected this site to get blacklisted given its relatively small userbase compared to some sites but maybe they're cutting back on bandwidth in general (if it's not some unrelated issue entirely).

I've heard of other forums having this same issue periodically over the last few years.
Though I'm not sure what they've done to fix it.

It's pretty darn annoying to go through a Internet Check thread and not see what it is we're all talking about.
But you're right, you can right click the image and open it in a new tab to view it. One note about that if you're on Firefox: The image may say the link is broken on the first try in the new tab too. Refresh button won't load it, but put your cursor on the address bar and hit Return/Enter and then it should load just fine. Kind of a strange quirk.

Thanks for writing in. Any forum that has a section dedicated to selling, such as classified are also against the advertising portion of the TOS. It does not matter if the host website is making many or not. If you'd like to be unblocked that section would have to be removed. You could also try using Imgur's embed unit instead of hotlinking. Their ToS (https://imgur.com/tos) is incredibly basic and doesn't outline anything about it being forbidden to have a classifieds section—just as long as Imgur isn't being used for the images in it.
This is the only excerpt that is related:

I created a fix - currently only for Chrome.
If GH wants they can implement provided JS into the page (jquery or vanilla) to automatically replace imgur urls.

For smaller stuff I don't see why more don't use the gh attachment embeds, though at one point there was (maybe still is?) an issue where the embedded images are only visible to logged in users which obviously would rule it out for certain purposes if still an issue.
For third party sites Noelshack.com (http://www.noelshack.com/), a popular French image host, has been around for years and seems viable. I personally like Abload.de but I feel they're best for higher quality uploads like screenshots than random images or mirrors of existing content.

For anyone wondering, apparently GH is working on it trying to contact Imgur. At the end of the day though, I guess it's up to them to see if they are going to enforce the classifieds aspect of this. They clearly haven't done it to some larger sites like reddit and such but it may come to that next. Might be time to find a new host!

The funny thing is that I usually click on an imgur link for something like a keyboard or some other thing I'm interested in and end up browsing funny pictures and such because I'd already been directed to the site and see other things in the sidebar.

In what way specifically? General KB photos are fine, as are GIFs and random memes, etc. The part they state they don't want their service used for is advertising, and also I'd imagine things like custom signatures (especially if they're also ads for GBs/ICs) since they also specified avatars which fall more into the territory of replacing things that would normally be natively self-hosted with external hosting (avatars in our case are already self-hosted), which seem to be what their CDN comments concern.
Presumably an employee either came across this site or someone reported it, as I know of one larger site that has classified threads which have existed for close to a decade without any blacklisting.

technically... I put craycopy on cloudflare and turned on argo and set image requests to fully cache, so it's basically cached in a distributed global CDN. if you check the response times, they're below 250ms. next time you post something just put https://craycopy.com/i/ in front of the imgur image url.
fyi this already generated 3gb of cached content so far.

That's just it, their ToS is so vague in some areas that you can find violations almost everywhere. This is nothing new though, it's just that for a long time, while they were growing, they didn't care and it wasn't a problem. But now that they are at maxing out servers some days and they have other competition (reddit hosting), it seems like they are getting more strict and selectively going through the big ToS violator sites as they catch them.
Things like this, the constant App/Ad nagging on mobile, the issues with batch uploading, etc are all signs we should probably be moving on to the next host.

This isn't even the only site I've been having an issue with - sporadically this has also been happening to me on DT and some other places too.
I've been getting more and more displeased with imgur for the couple of years and I think it's about time to find a new image host. The only reason imgur is relevant is that they filled the need of image hosting on places like Reddit, while using a simple interface, with loose restrictions on what you can upload. Now they've grown a bit too big and want to stay relevant by becoming YAMS (Yet Another Meme Site™) when plenty of those places already exist. I think this whole scuffle with banning Geekhack is certainly opening peoples' eyes to this truth.
I'll probably start hosting my own images since I have unlimited bandwidth, but it's going to be a pain doing that.
