Thick metal spacebar
« on: Wed, 20 February 2013, 01:29:55 »
Anyone interested in one? I have a few aluminum spacebars, but they're pretty thin. I also have a titanium that's thin too, so here's one I would like to make for THICK and heavy. This would probably require a grey or clear spring to compensate for the extra weight.

I'll have to check the wall clearance to make sure it won't rub on the switch/stabilizer.

Here's another version that's completely solid, although not sure if it's practical because you'd need a superman spring to keep this from constantly holding down the switch. I'm also not sure if those slots are machinable so the design might have to change.

Oh make me that one! I have a superblack spring I can use! I bet it would be perfect!

how about sticking some springs under Cherry Stabilizers? that would keep it up!

Just kidding. You would likely need a SuperBlack spring under a Clear stem to keep it up...but that would look awesome!

I think that would be painful to use.  Slapping my thumb against a space bar with so much inertia would get uncomfortable fast.

That would not function with a Cherry MX switch.  It wouldn't be able to travel far enough to actuate.
