He mentioned your avatar being like CC's in china and I was asking if those keycaps like feng is making is what he meant.

On topic: Does anyone know of any other key caps that have found such fame around the world?

The orignals were not group buys but done by Cherry before they sold their tooling.   This was where I was getting that info.  And as we know Ivan is the master when it comes to this totally obscure info.

Was you able to get that measurement for me cpt?

Anyone know the distance from the plate to the bottom of the cap using DCS caps?

If you don't get an answer, I'll take this measurement for you later.

Distance from plate to bottom of the cap is .360" for Cherry/GMK caps.
Distance from plate to bottom of the cap is .380" for DCS caps.

Measurement taken on my Epsilon from top of the plate to bottom of the cap on the lip that faces closest to the typist.

Yup I guess that was one of two sources.  With the other run being about the same size of production numbers.

Hey!
I've got a KBT Pure that uses a mini USB cable to connect it to the computer. I was wondering if I would be able to use a retractable mini USB cable to connect it to the computer. The only reason why I'm asking is because all the eBay listings say that they're all for charging and I don't know if that means it won't work with the keyboard.

An example of what I'm looking at are these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Retractable-USB-2-0-A-to-Mini-USB-B-Only-Charge-Cable-for-Camera-MP3-4-PDAs-/190813377043?pt=AU_Television_Accessories&hash=item2c6d5d1213

The cable I'm using now is quite thick and can get quite cumbersome at times (I move my keyboard around for extra space for writing).

That cable says "only charge" so it shouldn't work imo? Sounds like it just has VBUS and GND connected.

Edit: looking at the picture, that cable also seems too small for 4/5 inner cables.

Oh... would there be anything like the retractable cable that would work with the KBT Pure? Could you explain the VBUS and GND thing too? Curious as to what those are haha.

I see those cables all the time at Walmart, etc. They are made by Targus, Belkin, others. Should be easy to find.

Now that I think about it and look at nubbinator's custom cable creation guide, I think the cable thickness has to be there so there's all the proper connections. I'm not sure about the retractable cable thing. You could custom order a shorter length cable if that helps.

See jdcarpe's post above me. Sniper...

Basically the + and - pins of USB that deliver 5V to whatever is attached. The other pins are for data transfer.

They make retractable USB cables that carry power and data (though many are power only for charging). My friend is a big fan of them. Keep in mind the superthin cables are more prone to breakage though.

Yesterday I recieved my new Shine 3 with brown switches :) I am really happy about this mech, but I experience some strange sound noise while typing.
So this question mostly goes out to ducky owners, as I think this maybe a ducky related thing.

Yesterday I've experience a metal-ish sound or reverberation after I bottom out on the keys. I tested this on a lot of the keys and the sound is present. I can hear the sound even when I just "tickle" the keys although it's considerably quieter, but still it's there.

What I've tried so far: (I'm using the stock keycaps which are delivered with the keyboard)
- Putting a mat underneath the mech but the sound is still present although it's a little dampened.
- I pulled one of the keycaps and wanted to look at the switch. When I press down the switch I the sound is much quieter but still there (tested this just now) and with the keycaps on it seems the sound gets louder.

I heard of modding the mech with some kind of foam putting it in between PCB and case from BlueBär. I guess this is my next step and try this.

Here is a sound example: (I'm not really pressing that hard bottoming out)
http://www46.zippyshare.com/v/12537360/file.html

Hopefully someone knows this and can calm me down that this can be easily fixed.

P.S.: For the first few hours of typing and enjoying my new mech I didn't experience anything like that metal-ish sound while typing. I recieved her in the morning and the metal-ish sound came in the evening and I didn't eat near her or spilled anything and if I did I used the plastic cover to protect it from the food and drops of water.

Somehow this makes me crazy

They should work since they are not as high as normal 3mm LEDs and generally smaller.

Don't think so. Noppoo Choc Mini and one of the Keycools are the only stock 75% boards I can think of and they have 1.25x mods I believe.

Are there any 75% boards with 1.5x mods that aren't a custom?

I believe the Noppoo Choc Mini 84 has 1.5x mods, not 1.25x.

However there is a group buy starting right now for a 75% PCB and case, if you don't want to assemble then I'm sure you could find somebody to do it for you.  It comes out to about $155 for PCB + plate + case which is relatively cheap compared to other customs.

perhaps their designers have been browsing geekhack, isn't that very close to the epsilon layout?

Yes, this is the case. 2013 Noppoo Choc Mini 84 has changed to 1.25x mods as pointed out by Surnia's review. Compare this to the 2012 Noppoo Choc Mini 84 Codehead has in his review which has the 1.5x mods.

Or MX-Mini for that case.

Super noob question here. Can you freely install switches backwards so that the LED is top facing? Or does the PCB also have to be "backwards"?

PCB needs to have the holes/traces setup to accept the LEDs. Can't just flip em at will. PCB will determine LED location.

You could but it would take a TON of work.  If you want to do this my suggestion would be to cut a large hole in the PCB where all the switches go and hand wire the switches back to what is left of the PCB.  Of course this would only be feasible on a plate mount board.
