Color ideas right now:
-Solid 1 color light pink with a couple of accent keys (space, enter, esc)


GMK 3C, accents 3A. GMK doesn't really have a light pink. I honestly think this color is pretty cool but I am curious if people are into it.

This requires a number of additional "expensive" keys such as ISO enter and extra spaces. Thoughts?

layout considerations: if we run a solid color (not counting accents), what is the least number of keys per row to have as close to universal layout coverage? what should we choose to exclude?

This would cover moooooost (moist) 60-TKL and a handful of 40% too. The pink caps are the TKL caps and xondat and I were discussing whether this should be a TKL set or a 60/65% set. ISO is also negotiable. Thoughts?

Honest suggestion, why not a JTK blank? That should cost much less than GMK and the overall quality is good enough.

GMK's good for double shot. Does an expensive blank from GMK worth? There are other good alternatives for it. Gateron's, ePBT, IMSTO's. Same profile in a more suitable material for blank keys.

Who cares. Gmk has nice sharp and fairly consistent legends, as well as the ability to generate new molds quickly and match custom colors well. If you're doing blanks then none of that matters so why pay a premium for something just based on a name. You aren't going to tell a difference between jtk and gmk blanks

I feel that gmk blanks are a good idea.

I've already considered this idea some months ago, when I asked about the pricing of gmk alphas, and I've seen that blanks are 30% cheaper than a doubleshot set. Considering that in a blank set you need fewer keys, because legends are not a problem anymore, for example g80-1800 layout requires fewer additional keys

a blank set is 30%-40% cheaper, so a complete set that can cover all layouts will cost less than 80 USD.

I think that people could also welcome addons made of 10 keys (for example a copule for each row), in that way you can have replacements, or simply a chance for customization, since a little bit of color can act like a "homing key", helping you to find the correct keycap.

The only problem that I have when touch typing, is with the number row... I'll need some homing bars there :-)

I would love this to be honest. I can't really spend much more on keyboards this year, but if someone ran this in the future I would probably be in for it.

So you are saying you would pay triple the price just so you can say your blanks are made by GMK. I'm all for spending 120$+ rather than 40$ if that gives me better legend quality and superior compatability.
But today you can buy a set of EnjoyPBT blanks in cherry profile for 40$ , removing one of the advantages (as EPBT still lacks GMK's level of compatibility). GMK Mondrian is an example of this.A 69£ kit with blanks and only ortholinear support. No wonder it almost didn't meet MOQ.

that might be how they do it at gmk, i have no idea though. aren't SP ABS blanks doubleshot still?

Blank caps almost certainly wouldn't be doubleshot unless it was requested. The cap color is the 2nd "shot" of color, so they'd just shoot caps using only the 2nd step in the process to fill in the space normally occupied by the legends.

For those particular caps they would have to be doubleshot since the legend is the same piece of plastic as the legend. For GMK the stem is the same as the "body" of the cap.

Better than uniform pastel, but I'd want something light colored. 9009 blank would also be neato

What a waste of machine time. Only possible reason, would be that there was no mold for a single unit key cap. The stem was in the inner section; while the top was in the outer one. There was a need  for a no-legend key for some application. Result: A summa cum laude on inefficiency, a blank double shot.

There was a need  for a no-legend key for some application. Result: A summa cum laude on inefficiency, a blank double shot.

not if the rest of their molding was done in this way with the legend molded to the darker underside piece and the skirt doubleshot around it.
