Congrats! Already have this set but I know how hard it was for me to get on the aftermarket so I’m happy other folks won’t have to do that! Late 2019/Early 2020 shaping up to be a real good run of sets for purple fans!

Awesome. I've been trying to find a Taro set at a reasonable price for a long time. Good to see it coming back as a GB.

As for the kits:

• [Base] R4 1.5u Caps Lock, R3 1u Hack and (to a slightly lesser extent) R3 1.75u stepped Control seem unnecessary. Especially the Caps Lock — I've never seen that anywhere outside of this and the Analog Dreams IC.
• [Base] In place of those unnecessary keys, you could add a barred homing numpad 5 or a numpad 00.
• [Extra Straws] The 2u spacebars that are required for Alice are missing; you have 1.75u spacebars instead, which I don't think are useful for anything. Replace them with 2u.
• [Extra Toppings] Imo, it'd make more sense to put the alpha 6u spacebar in the Extra Straws kit.
• Consider Num instead of Num↲Lock and Caps instead of Caps↲Lock on the stepped Caps for a uniform, one-line look across the whole set. Scroll is already one-line.
• This is down to preference, but I'd suggest using Super instead of Code. There are a few objective benefits to this, which I can list if you'd like.

No icon mods please, Taro is one of those sets that really works well with icon+text mods.

The R4 1.5u Caps Lock is a personal inclusion, when I was using a full tsangan bottom row while control-swapping, having 2 left-hand Control keys drove me nuts. The natural thing for me to do was just swap em. Homing numpad 5 should be in there, that's an oversight on my part.

I'll look at the split kit, as far as the 6u goes, you can argue either way where it should go imo.

Good note on the hard returns for caps/num lock, I'll def look at that.

Definitely heard on the single line consistency, I'll have to play with the numpad, that's an interesting suggestion for sure!

6 months wait time..

Yeah, it's definitely earlier to announce than is traditional, but with the way the aftermarket has been, I really wanted to make it known that this is in the works, plus this way it gives us plenty of time to get the kits as good as they can be.

That's a super weird layout, but hey, it's your set! ―\_(ツ)_/― I do have a suggestion that would make that key a bit more versatile, though: How about replacing the 1.5u Caps Lock with two 1.5u Super keys? That way you'd kill two birds with one stone: you'd cover Tsangan/HHKB for Mac users (where the Alt and Command/Super are swapped) and you'd have a key with a generic legend for your bottom row Caps Lock needs!

To elaborate a bit further on why I think the R3 Hack should be removed: not counting 40%/50%/ortho layouts (which the base kit doesn't cover anyway), it's only directly useful on one single keyboard: the Uniqey C70. Its usefulness on 65% is very limited — not enough to warrant including it in the base kit, imo.

I miss the novelties though. I think it's an element that makes Taro very unique and very recognizable. I hope you'll still consider adding them.

I added to the OP a bit ago, boba novelties with definitely be returning rest assured!

Hoping to maybe expand on them a bit so I'm leaving that section as WIP for right now.
