Cherry replica dyesub next language/layout?
« on: Sun, 26 August 2012, 00:13:58 »
So I have been getting things squared away with imsto for the Russian set, but due to high MOQ of 400 I have been cleared to split that up for some different legend sets. Being able to split the amount for different language layout will make it easier (I hope).
Keep in mind that only ANSI is available and they will be on the white color just like the Russian set though the legend colors can be discussed. Some suggestions on other ANSI layouts may be: Czech, Slovak, Hangul, Chinese, Hebrew, Serbian, Georgian, Arabic, Vietnamese, Turkish, Romanian, US Intl. and Dvorak. Of course you may suggest some ANSI version of a usually ISO layout as well.
I will run the 2 most popular options and will join it up in the Russian buy once a decision is reached.

Winners are... Dvorak and US International. Place your orders in the group buy thread here.

Dyesub version of SoWaRe set with rgb text on modifiers? (yes I know modifiers wouldn't be white but if you don't ask...)
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

I have no objection to such a colorscheme. But I will think it's funny making a Cherry replica of a Wyse replica in the incorrect color.

I can see that, I don't care about accuracy, I just think the colored text is awesome.

I'm voting for ANSI czech.  Is Korean an option?

By Chinese...do you mean bopomofo (hehehehe...sorry I love that name...bopomofo)?

I don't know, whatever Chinese layout Cherry use:

Hangul is Korean. Some layout may not have been done by Cherry also, but could be done anyway just won't be a replica really.

imsto does NOT have the ability to do 1.5 modifiers, is that correct?

No, 1.5 modifiers are not available at this time. It may be possible in the future but not soon as they do not have molds for those keys yet.

I'd go for a Dvorak kit for sure.
Dvorak/cyrillic, Dvorak/runic, Dvorak/heirogylphics, Dvorak/phonecian, etc.

I must admit I'm also pretty interested in just straight dvorak.

Can we just have the alternative language? I.e. just Chinese or Czech? With no English legend on the caps.

Czech for exaple would just be Czech only as it is normally a single language layout. Chinese normally does have US as well but if enough people wanted it without it could be possible.

Lol, you guys don't need to write ansi on the form. It is already ansi. The blank space is for some other option, like you want Swedish or Hungarian or something... on ANSI.

There really have not been many options for you dvorak users. Definitely a good opportunity to get a set done at a good price unlike past sets where you needed to buy both a base set and add on kit to get there. I also realize I did not answer your other comment, it would just be a plain set with only 1 legends just as shown on the keyboard language layout wiki.
Please no Chicago style voting... ;P

Currently Dvorak is in first, followed by a tie between Czech and US International.

I'm "on the level" with respect to voting. (especially after reading "The Jungle"!) I'm just advertising the possibility of PBT Dvorak. I have sitting in front of me, the only other options I know of (Unicomp and Deck, all keys are the same, and a custom WASDkeyboards one). This will be awesome!

How many keyboards do I have? That's how many Dvorak sets I'll need.

Also, runes are easy to carve, so they don't have curved edges. Heiroglyphs would be great, for all those who type in ancient Egyptian (Useful for a double language keyboard, I think) I think both would be awesome as anachronisms.

Check my keyboard. Yeah it's in Phonecian, so I can type just like they did 4,000 years ago.

If there were to be a runes set, I think engraved would be ideal for that instead of dyesubs.
Lots of votes for US Intl. over the last day, now tied with Dvorak for first place, I suspect these may be the winners unless there is some serious voting for something else.

Whoah, that's brilliant! There's no question about it now, I need to get a Dvorak set in RED. (Waiting for unicomp on that one)

Engraving runes is an excellent idea. Since you can feel them, it'd really bring out the meaning.

I will call the final vote results for this one week from today on 8 September. US International and Dvorak are still in the lead by far.

Once I get all of this buy finalized, I will see about this engraved runes set. I think this is a really interesting idea. Unless someone wants to start it before me, go for it.

Winners are... Dvorak and US International. Will get form added in the buy to place your orders for these.
