[IC] imsto topre font pbt dye sub cherry keycap sets + color poll

Checking if anyone is interested in basically a cherry clone of the Topre keycap sets.


Since i cant create and actual poll just post that your interested and what color your interested in and ill do my best to keep a tally. The Standard colors from Topre are (you can check them out at EK http://tinyurl.com/857ap55 :

Pink
Red
White
Orange
Blue
Yellow
Green

imsto can only do BLUE or GREY so time to make a hard decision.

If thats the font sure just make sure its the correct size and ill be happy. I just like how topre caps look along with their feel, I thought id try to bring that over to cherry boards.

Lol if that would have been the font though, it would have saved a bunch of time. Now that i think about it it looks nothing like arial.

I like the green as well I have it on my HHKB. If theres enough interest and we get the font figured out ill see if i can start a poll to pick the color for the first GB.

I do remember that groupbuy but comparing my pink keycaps to those the legends dont seem the same especially the placement.

Yeah, my SP set is uglier than topre set in some aspects, the contrast is bad, the font alignment is horrible, font size is not consistent, blah blah, lol =). I just want to point out that topre sets using Helvetica font .

It's no need to do svg for each keys. SP would only need one SVG file for the whole set .

Well ill look into it but so far looks like not enough people are interested in a set that there is a point to make a SVG. I wonder if i can make a poll some where to pick keycap color.

If imsto is and option ill look into that as well either way ill probably get a SVG made if theres enough interest in a set.

Yes, you should have imsto make them so they are not f*cked up. Since it is just a font that shoud be all that is needed.

I gave him an image of the Cherry board, and will give him a font file I am building for true Cherry, and it sounded like he would take care of it from that.

I have been talking to imsto and were working things out. I plan to get a prototype set before even thinking about getting all the sets for the groupbuy because I would like to make sure the legends are going to turn out as exact as possible. Though at the rate this interest check is going the prototype might be the end of it.

I got a kinda of sad message from imsto he only has blue and grey for keycap colors. I asked for pictures of the colors so hopfully ill be able to post what they look like so you can choose. I also now have pricing and will post that once i have access to my computer again.

Also wondering does anyone have a topre set and a nice camera as imsto needs nice close up pics of the keys and all i have is my canon point and shoot which dont do close very well.

What kind of photos would you be needing? Ones where you can get a good idea for the shape of the different keys or is this more as reference for font placement? I have a dslr + tripod that I could use to snap some decently high-res photos (black/charcoal 87u).

All for font placement on all the different types of keys (as in not just the letters). As long as yo uhave goo lighting you should be able to grab some great pictures of caps on that board, would you mind helping out?

O and pricing for the prototype is 86$ and groupbuy price will be $68 up to 200 sets. And a change to the color poll it either blue or grey or I guess possibly both if there is enough interest.

Im thinking that the prototype's pice will get worked into the groupbuy.

I will also try to get some pics of my Topre boards I dont know if they will be as good as what kaporkle will produce but hopefully they will be of some help to imsto because they are of the colored set not the standard ones.

In addition i was wondering is anyone had pick of the PBT caps they have gotten from imsto in both the Blue and Grey just so that I can display what the colors look like for the case of the poll.

The font looks very close to a couple of typefaces from the Helvetica family. At least the main keys. Some of the symbols (like ^ or *) don't seem to quite match Helvetica.
