Now that's what I call a sweet looking compact busy boi! Not sure I'd say "battleship", it's more like a "frigate" or "corvette". They're ship types that are more compact but can still dish out some pain!

To my eyes it looks... too angular, too simple, like the Unsaver was used just as an idea for how the keys should be arranged, not for the overall look. From my point of view, a modern take on the Unsaver should also have some some of it's details (like curves).

Edit:
Also, your design seems more inspired from the IBM 73x3832 Quiet Touch (the rubber dome version of the Unsaver), than from the Model F Unsaver 1387033, which is the desirable one in the collector world.

That is mostly true. It's not meant as a 1:1 replica, more an homage to the layout I guess. The design itself is more mixed with my current style with a slight nod to old Cherry boards. We are still tweaking though so we'll see where it goes from here.

Yeah, an early draft was actually very very close to a 2100 but we decided it would be better to change it up a bit.

WKL is due to the historical significance, since this project draws heavily from the Cherry G80-2100 and 2500 series.
Since the HHKB is unrelated to the board, it will likely not be offered as an option.

ANSI is supported in the added keys below the main layout. I think they just showed the full ISO layout to be true to the original 2551.

Yeah I'd say the ANSI key sizes are supported. It's just that some letters and symbols are printed in a different place. That said I'm still super tempted.

Is there any chance you could make it possible to swap the right shift key and the 1U key to the right of it in the alternate layout (so that 1U key would go on the left)?

This would make it possible to have a correctly-configured JIS layout as well as ISO. See Apogee's layout diagram for an example of what I mean.

Just trying to do the math here... I need one of these. But with the FN rows on the left side and the need for 24 FN keys up top. Does that mean 3 keycap sets needed to fill this board? Or does any keycap set (with child kits) come close to compatibility(right row profiles but just wrong legends)? One idea is while running this keyboard also run a set of gmk relegendables in classic colors like og space keys.
