It's basically the same. You have to "register" an identity (similar to IRC where you don't actually register) and you then chat in a chatbox to the right of the movie. I think it's more or less the same as Twitch.

can u reply multiple times? i was just in moose's twitchtv stream/chat and anything after 3 consecutive replies and it said it didnt go through due to "spam". not my fault i type fast.

No. You will have to acquire the movie yourself to get high-def. The point of the stream is to allow many people to view an acceptable stream which makes it really easy to do a group-view. It is not to start a high-def service.

Indeed. And since I'm using my personal livestream account I prefer to not give anyone else access to that. I will be available to set up every stream for the foreseeable future, and if there are issues I'll bring it up and we can resolve them as they come. Somewhat unrelated, but they finally opened a Drafthouse Cinema near where I live. For those of you unfamiliar with the movie chain, they maintain a STRICT no talking, no cellphone use policy during the movie. If you break the policy, they eject you from the theater, period. My interpretation of the idea was to have it be any sort of movie, but it would be the "B-movie" to our main "A-movie" of the night. So I would think these suggestions would be perfectly okay. But as always, this is a collaborative idea, so we can discuss.
Ever seen Bubba Ho Tep?
I'll make a numbered encore comedy list just under our regular movie list on my next day off work. Then Hoff can draw from that on stream night.
We were talking about a few other movie night formats too, like possibly having short episodes or movie clips to play as bumpers between movies, or while we wait for people to join in.
Also, and I'm just putting this out there. I was thinking it might be unique to do a "BIG" trilogy showcase once or twice a year. Really get the word out and have a giant showing. We'd have to work out the details.

I like the idea of keeping the main movie list (i.e. the A movie list). I think this will keep growing, and if not we can just pull movies out of the B list to add in. Let's keep doing the "same theme" encore movies, the B list can be long and we'll just pick movies that match well with the A list perhaps?

What's the word on Movie Night tonight? I'm happy to stream something, however I don't have kung fu hustle (the current pick left over from tp4). I could either just pick one from my library, we could go straight to the 'b-movie' list we created awhile ago, or we could pick one from the list in the OP that I do have on hand. I'm open to any of these options. Or we could just postpone it if no one's planning to attend, that works too.

In the early days of movie night we had tested a few different times and this was the one that yielded the best results as far as participation. Also everyone involved in running this (streamers, organizers and downloaders) are all in North America. I'm sorry that I can't help you out.

Well I think we had a successful stream tonight! Lots of quiet people so there was no consensus reached for an encore and I had to get going on some work so couldn't monitor the chat any more. In the future, don't be afraid to talk, people of the stream. You don't need to create an account to chat and it helps me pick an encore. If I always picked it wouldn't be much fun. This is a very interesting movie for how old it is. I had a class in sound engineering school called psychoacoustics where we analyzed the sounds in this film. They use certain frequencies that interact with one another to form what's known as binaural beats that kind of screw with your mind a bit in an odd and eerie way. Two frequencies that are off a bit from one another create a pulsing sound. One frequency is played from the right and one from the left. On their own they are steady, but together....Very cool.Wow, pretty interesting. Guess I have something else to look (listen?) for

I always have lagging problems. Wouldn't it be easier to download it and watch together while in a chatroom?Thats why the countdown timer is there. You can sync up to the stream using your own copy of the movie and just chat on the streaming site with us if you want.

It seems like the upload speed is perfectly fine! I'm going to keep streaming for quite some time though, cause once I start watching Harvey Birdman I just can't stop. xD

If there are interested people, Hoff says he may be able to stream in a few hours. It would be later than normal.
I am online and able to stream at this time, folks! Since it's an unusual time, it may be better to just pick a different thing to stream, and keep the official pick to the official schedule for anyone interested. Thoughts? I'm always down to stream some TV shows, movies, whatever.
Of course, we can also stream the regularly scheduled content as well. Just throwing it out there as another option. :thumb:

Stream this past weekend was fun. Watched a Tarantino classic.. :cool:I spoke with Hoff just a moment ago and he is on board for streaming the scheduled movie this Saturday at the normal time of 10pm EST. I will create a countdown timer so you know when it's happening! I will also try and bump this thread a few times as we approach the date!

Eventually, when it was late in the night we watched Reservoir Dogs. I did have to follow the thread for a while and post that I was here, but eventually we got it running.
