but is it still curved such that a glass screen protector won't fit over it?

I went through the hell of getting a screen protector today.. I did not do glass because they are all sold out and I can not find one with a good review online. I went to 3 different stores. Finally found one that was willing to put it on for me and had them in stock. It took them 4 different tries to get it right.
I am going to keep my eye on the reviews for a good glass. For not I will just use the "film" or plastic ones.
Great design but horrible for protectors.
I want to get it it as my next phone. I have an S5 right now.
I'll wait a few more months, though.
Hello, I think I am annoying the Slack groups about talking about my new phone. Has anyone else picked one of these up yet?
I also moved from iOS. I am enjoying it so far. It is a lot different. The screen protector situation is a nightmare hahaHello, I think I am annoying the Slack groups about talking about my new phone. Has anyone else picked one of these up yet?
I'm planning on it as my contract is up this month; moving from iOS to Android. What do you think of it? I see all of the stuff online, but I'd love the perspective of someone who has one.

I am hoping a good glass option releases soon that is comparable with cases. The battery life isn't great. There are ways to save on the battery but it doesn't makebthr phone as cook. Over all I really enjoy it. I was on iOS for 8 years.

I had my carrier move my contacts for me. Samsung has a new app that makes it really easy to move the rest by your self. I backed all my photos etc up on my pc so I'm not worried about bringing them over.I also moved from iOS. I am enjoying it so far. It is a lot different. How did you move your contacts and texts and photos? The contacts part is my largest concern. And did you have any 2FA? I'm using google (and some in steam and blizzard), and that's what I'm dreading most.

It's super laggy now, but surprisingly, even though I customized the heck outta it without rooting it, it can still get pretty snappy on really good days.

I really wish they'd come out with a flagship fone with 5000-6000 mah.. that would be ideal...
That is one of the biggest downsides of the S8+ thus far. The battery is not as good as I expected. Granted, I have been on it like crazy because of the Newness.I want to get it it as my next phone. I have an S5 right now.

I have a 7500mAh battery in my S5. I can't live without it. I'm going to miss the battery life dearly when I "upgrade."

if u think s8 battery is bad.. you haven't xperienced s7 hahahahahaha... s8 suppose to have 20-30% longer than s7..
My friend has had an S8 after moving from his iPhone 6S+
He really loved the screen and the camera but after three days this happened:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/nAUVH01.jpg)
That pink line is on the screen and not a reflection. He did not drop it, and there was no stress applied to the screen. Hard reset it three times to no avail.
Also the fingerprint reader is in an incredibly ridiculous position that isn't natural requiring you to hold your phone in a strange way when unlocking it.

I picked one up this week. Good phone so far, I have spent the last 4 years on iOS so it has a learning curve. The screen is beautiful though.

Once you get over the learning curve it is great! I spent 5 days learning everything and customizing it to my exact expectations.

I've been looking up cases for Galaxy S8. I won't be getting one for a few more months, but I thought to just look anyway.woa that keyboard thing! I haven't used something like that since my good old Nokia E63.
Came across this:Show Image(http://images.mobilefun.co.uk/graphics/productgalleries/63088/official-samsung-galaxy-s8-keyboard-cover-black-p63088-d.jpg)
Definitely going to get that case. I may get another case for days I'm going to want more protection (ya never know), but being able to use a physical keyboard has me excited. I heard you have to use Samsung's stock keyboard, though, and that tempered-glass screen protectors may not work.

If Samsung would get rid of their stupid Touchwiz garbage, this would be my new phone. Shouldn't have to root a phone to have pure Android.

So the company isn't allowed to install their own software on their own device?

NO! It's garbage. Keep it off. I've had 3 Samsung phones, its dumb.

So I took my case off for the first time today.
The carrier that put my screen protector on scratched the back of my phone all to hell.
Might try and put a dbrand skin on.
Stock roms almost always suck, and even when they are okay, carriers do their best to screw them up.Meh. People keep telling me that, but I have no problems on my tablets with Touchwhiz.

the only thing stopping you then is a root and a stock rom
using flagship bloatware roms make me nauseous

If you want to hack... Beware
Some phones have a locked carrier... (Samsung and LG do this)
ATT&T and Sprint play this game, and while you can unlock most after a year of continuous service (usually), Sprint is a real bastard about it, especially on prepaid. If you fulfill your contract but terminate service, they can try and force you to do another year of service before unlocking the carrier. They have also been known to implement black lists of phones they refused to allow to leave (before the rule change). Sprint blacklisted my S4 and then when that was lifted, tried playing the "needs to be online for year first" rule. At which point I told Sprint to go to hell after 14 years of service.
And the bad doesn't end there on Sprint Prepaid, not only do they do that, but Sprint has suppliers remove the menu system to allow you to port the phone off of Sprint. So if you have say a nice prepaid Galaxy S5, because it is capable of being ported out, Sprint has the supplier (Samsung) remove the menu, so their associates will tell you it can't be ported out. This was made legal by the new FCC rules on porting.... Which Sprint helped write. They left this loophole in it and Sprint was prepared for this well in advance, so even if it's an older phone, they already had that removed in expectation of it. Technically, if you add the file/menu back, it can be ported, but you still need an unlock code which they will not give you, claiming it's impossible, and while a third party can get it, is it REALLY worth it for a phone that will be limited to slow speeds on other carriers? Sell it and move on.
More insidious... Some phones have a locked bootloader. (Samsung loves doing this for AT&T and Verizon)
This means you can root and rom it, and port it, however, you can ONLY use a rom which uses the same kernel. So if it came with Touchwiz or any kernel modifications, you are stuck using a rom based on that kernel. No one has cracked the S4 Verizon bootloader despite a nice bounty to do so.
Not only do phones come this way, but the first AT&T S5 had an unlocked bootloader, then the second or third update they locked it.. Those older AT&T S5's fetch a nice premium since you cannot roll it back. In fact rolling back much of anything on a Samsung tends to make it a permanent paper weight. This is by design (KNOX).
If you want to buy an open phone
Your best bet is T-Mobile, who doesn't usually lock the carrier and almost never locks the bootloader to my knowledge. Their phones are almost 100% compatible with AT&T and the rest of the world (including 4g). T-mobile phones often fetch a slight premium because of this. Typically Sprint phones are worth the least (by a fair margin at times), then AT&T and Verizon which often have similar pricing, with T-mobile selling for the most, barring special colors and features.
Remember, ALWAYS read up on your phone before you flash anything because while some phones are hard to kill (LG), Samsung are ridiculously simple. Do the homework first and this stuff is actually pretty safe. It;s not doing the homework that will get you in trouble. Admittedly, it's not always easy or clear, but must be done to do it safely.
Can you tell I've done this a few times? :))
what are some of the fun things ya'll doing on the phone..
I ran out of things to do around day 5 after getting phone..

Mine is a glorified portable media player and that's about it. HBO, Netflix etc., or anything on my Plex server if I find myself out somewhere with time to kill. In the car it's my FLAC player via USB.
I still have a bunch of ROMs on it and carry my 8bitdo around for the occasional game, but ever since I built a retropie for work I barely touch the phone ROMs. Other than that, I've never found phone games to be interesting at all.
And I'm not much of a social media person, so tbh the vast majority of the time my phone is just sitting face down somewhere on silent mode because who actually calls people anymore?
So I took my case off for the first time today.I just put the Dbrand dragon skin on mine today. Very nice product. Took about 10 minutes to install.

I'll grab some pics in a little while (no phone is my only csmera). I applied it with a heat gun on low. Worked out just like they showed in the video. It really is amazing how much it helps to rub the sides down with the microfiber. Also, I finally got my dbrand in. Super easy install. I seem to have finaly found a decent screen protector. Spigen NeoFlex. I also got the Spigen Neo Hybrid case and I am not a fan of it. My Speck Presido case is starting to fall apart from taking the phone in and out so I am trying to replace it by refund. Overall, still really enjoying the phone. I treat it like a baby. My hands are trained to not carry anything else in the hand that it is in.
Tempted to pull the trigger on getting one this month, but I really want to wait to see if they come out with a Note 8.
