I just hit 600 posts...  :)

Post per day has gone down below 8 tho, since I was busy doing university applications recently, so it looks like I have some catching up to do... xD

Dude you and I are still twins.

Haha, yesh true Nj!
I realized we even registered only one day apart from each other.

To bad we didn't get it spot on, but still such twinsies tho! =)

Also Gratz on 600 man!

Aww you two are so cute!!~  <3

 :-* :-* :-*

I would just like to point out that I was not the one who said "twinsies."

Dude your post rate is way to strong

Eh, I'm just new here and enthusiastic. I'm sure it'll taper off, but right now I've got a lot to say and a lot of questions to ask. For the most part they're not low-value posts (I think/hope).

So, 1752. Interesting year.

Year Britain adopted the Gregorian calendar. The only year with 355 days when 10 days in September were removed.

Benjamin Franklin proved lightning was electricity.

First hospital in America was opened and the first newspaper in Canada was released.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

In 1787, the original Lord's Cricket Ground held it's first cricket match.

Something called the United States Constitution is adopted by some blokes in Philadelphia. Delaware became the first US state in December.

1788 is a bit more interesting :)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

OK, 1797 was pretty cool.

The last invasion of Britain took place, and lasted all of 3 days. You bloody Americans. Admiral Nelson also lost his arm in an unrelated incident. Napoleon was more successful as he conquered Venice. John Adams was sworn in as the 2nd POTUS.

Henry Steinway the piano maker was also born.

Honourable mention to 1798 and the year the Marines were founded. Semper Fi.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

1840 was eventful. It was a leap year.

The French landed on, and claimed, Antarctica. The British reach New Zealand and found Wellington, declaring the two islands a British colony. The great Queen Victoria did marry her cousin Albert though...

Britain issued the world's first postage stamp, the Penny Black, and King's College hospital in London opens. The great David Livingstone leaves for Africa.

Hiram Maxim (the gun maker), Tchaikovsky and Monet were all born.

All things consideredl, Rule Britannia.

All that seems very appropriate looking at your avatar.

1888 - very interesting.

The longest year in the Gregorian calendar in Roman numerals (MDCCCLXXXVIII) and the holder of the longest date in the calendar too, August 28th (XXVIII-VIII-MDCCCLXXXVIII)

The Lawn Tennis Association is founded in England, De Beers is founded in Kimberley SA, t Football Association is founded, and Kodak is registered as a trademark. National Geographic is also founded in Washington D.C.

The Washington Monument opened to the public (the tallest structure in the world at that time), the first "long drive" (40 miles) is completed in a car built by Karl Benz

Jack the Ripper starts (and possibly finishes) killing, and Van Gogh cuts off his own ear.

Admiral Kinkaid, John Logie Baird and T E Lawrence were all born in this year.

Two WW1 fighter aces were also born within a day of each other. Maurice Boyau (May 8th) was French and Francesco Baracca (May 9th) was Italian.

Carl Zeiss and William LeRoy both died in 1888.

And this rounds up Katushkin's (ever diminishing) round of "What happened in the year I just happen to look at my post count and thing; that might be interesting to look at" history saga!

1926.

There was a miners strike in the UK in March, which triggered a national strike. This also resulted in martial law being imposed in Britain, which lasted until December. The miner's strike lasted until October.

In politics, two attempts were made on Mussolini's life. Obviously, he survived both attempts. Trotsky and his brother-in-law Kamenev were exiled from the Politburo of the Soviet Communist Party. There was also a coup in Portugal.

Route 66 was established, and apparently 1926 was the climax of Al Capone's power. No idea what that's meant to mean...

Notable births: Pete Rozelle, Hugh Hefner, HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Harper Lee, Sir David Attenbrough, Fidel Castro, and Tony Bennett.

Notable deaths: Antoni Gaudi, Harry Houdini, and Calude Monet.

Dammit, missed 1949 :( That was a cool year...

What, lower average temperatures or something?

Lots of pretty awesome stuff happened, and some cool people were born.

Seems like there's stuff happening all the time!
