It is, yeah. Hopefully the interest and joy of being here will stay with me. I'm a quitter on a lot of my previous hobbies but not keyboards. Keyboards are here to stay.

Same here! I'm actually getting more and more into it over time. But it costs so much monaahy. That's the only thing with boards.

Well.. I'm into digital photography now. So if a 70-200 lens costs around 1300$ I suppose even a HHKB Type S around 300$ is basically free :P lol

Yeap, this hobby isn't cheap. But a lot of other hobbies aren't cheap either. Need to limit myself though because this month is a real challenge for my wallet. All the artisan sales (previous & upcoming) + an HHKB. I'm going over my budget already with HHKB alone. :D
The good thing - I understand that I need money to support my hobby so I'm working harder than before. Already had a small promotion last month. But with more money comes more responsibility.

Occasionally, I also get to make money with my hobbies. And in my opinion, hobbies may cost a few bucks here and there.

So I bought this Nikon D7200 + 18-140 kit, which is really expensive for me. But I also want to get into semi-pro equine (horses) photography. So I'll earn my cam back.

My boards are used for typing (obviously) and I develop code and/or write papers the whole day. So I earn that back as well as I literally use them on the job.

So that makes some of my purchases justifiable.

Now of course owning black + white HHKB AND soon black + white RF87 is just sheer luxury 'fcoures. But a hobby ain't a hobby if it ain't a bit ridiculous here and there. :D

GH is my life. I'm on GH all day. I am a true multi-tasker, so I refresh all my tabs and sites often. And when there is something new, I check it out. That's how I work.

At the office, I'm usually doing multiple things at the same time: writing paper, data analysis, preparing a study, working on code. And I switch back and forth. Except for writing a real good serious paper. That needs all my concentration I can bring.

GH is really cool. I like to spend time here :) It's the only place where I can talk about boards and games and software and such.

There used to be geeks around me, but they all moved to other cities so I barely speak them anymore. Which is ironic, because you would geeks to value chat and irc etc over physical real world contact.

Oh ok. A long time ago, my geeky pals and I had to split up because we were starting high school in different schools. Ever since then I've kept my inner geek a secret. I'm tired of living a lie! :)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I've been largely AFK the last few weeks so don't have all of the details on that, but it's not implying that your posts have been mindless spam akin to a spambot posting nonsense.  Rather, it's more like "let the other kids have a try".  If one member has all of the recent posts in Spy, that member is basically dominating the forum and bumping threads that don't need to be bumped.  Some people browse GH near-exclusively through Spy, so constantly seeing threads bumped for the "low-effort" responses decreases their enjoyment.  Of course, those low-effort posts are more than welcome on the forum (people simply saying "nice desk" and such is perfectly fine), but when it's a single user dominating the forum with those posts, we step in to help keep things in check.  Does that make sense?  Feel free to PM me to discuss.

It is *not* a punishment and you should not feel afraid to post.  The bolded line above emphasizes why you were made aware at all - as you know, plenty of people make these sorts of posts all the time.

Uuuhm... I have received notice that I would have been spamming? Can any moderator here help me clear that up? Have I done something wrong?

EDIT: I've received my last 100-150 posts myself. I REALLY don't see how any of those are considered spam O_o

Nice post.

Not sure if sarcasm.   If it is, I'm always happy to discuss further.  If not, then carry on.  :thumb:

To be honest, some of my posts are not even worth mentioning.  I guess my point of view is different than other peeps, but I still express how I feel.
I guess the meaning of "spamming" a thread is saying just nothing to make your post credible, a nod.
We're all guilty of that.  But then again, the acknowledgment is a good thing.  I suppose that's why there are users that are wary of saying anything because they may feel stupid for saying something that has already been said.
*?*
If you don't say anything, how can there be an acknowledgment to begin with?
I don't know.  The "Spy" thing that Hoff mentioned makes sense too.  Then there is a new user that posts in a Necro thread, but it encompasses something that they were meaning to discuss?
I can see both sides of the coin here.  It's all well and good until it gets out of hand.
Ah, what do I know?

Sorry for getting off topic a bit more but what is the "Spy" option? How does it work and why it's different from "Watched" section? I just don't know the difference.

Spy shows the last however many new posts. You can find a link to it in the nav bar. I use it all the time.
