We are consolidating forums to clean up clutter on the frontpage. The merged forum will be renamed to "Site Discussion".

I've always thought "site announcements" was where GH staff could announce things like outages and upgrades.

And feedback/suggestions was where users could offer feedback and report problems.

site annoucements tend to be one post stickied for a week or two then let loose. feedback is the more dominant forum of the two, but they are very complementary.

That's fair enough, but site announcements are generally important, and it's nice to have one area lighlighted which immediately indicates that there is an important site announcement.  Those posts may be lost in the (admittedly fairly light) flood of feedback threads.

yah, announcements will be made and kept sticky for as long as they apply. one really doesn't care about routine maintenance notifications the day after though.

Still happening? I'd like to plug moving it to the top of the front-page index as well to give things a bit more visibility. Announcements don't really do any good if no one reads them.
