Now Usable Terminal Keyboard Collection
« on: Thu, 17 August 2017, 21:41:09 »
With the Televideo 935, I've finished up with somewhat random collection of older terminal boards I've picked up in recent months. They're now all "Teensyfied." It was bugging me too have a bunch of what I consider kind of cool old boards that I couldn't actually use, and I'm happy to now be able to use them on my Windoze machine. I've posted about these boards at various times in the last couple months, but I figured I'd go ahead and post one set of pics of them together now that I'm finished with my project.

BTW the boards are: Televideo 925, Tandem Computers 6530, Fujitsu N680-2500-V101,  Kaypro 4, Televideo 935

Nice collection there and well done in modernising them so they just don't collect dust on a shelf.

Any issues with Alt keys or other Windows-specific keys missing?

Or have you managed to map something to those keys?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I mapped ALT to the FUNCT key on the boards that have one, or just picked another key to use on the boards that don't - except for the Kaypro. I thought about using the Line Feed key for ALT on that board but just mapped  Enter to it since that felt a little more authentic - just doing without ALT on that board.  As for the Windows key - I never use it.  We don't need no stinkin' Windows key! But could just map it to another key if desired.

Really makes me want to do that with my terminal board as well.
Would be awesome to be able to use it. Feels so good to type on. :D
