Cleaning off pad printing?
« on: Wed, 27 September 2017, 09:34:35 »
Has anyone deliberately removed pad printing from PBT? I don't want to be too abrasive and scratch the PBT, so would 99% isopropyl alcohol be okay?

PBT will not be harmed by alcohol. It will even take acetone.

pbt is usually dyesub, so you'll have to use abrasive, but that ruins the feel

you can remove pad printing from ABS with some 70% iso and a paper towel

The keycaps in question are side-printed, which usually means pad printing. On closer inspection of the photographs, they definitely printed on - as the quality is so bad some of the letters are flaking off! This shouldn't be too hard to remove. Thanks for the replies.
