Second question; you mention different weights, what's the weight difference between the different kinds of wood?

I might use it as a keyboard to take to work so prefer something lighter

From memory, the pok3r plate is a bit wider than standard. Do some searching around the kbdfans 60% aluminium case thread and you should find more details - they're a bit hazy for me.

Unfortunately, I don't have many of the PCBs mentioned in the comments section. But the general rule of thumb is that so long your 60% PCB has the same 6 screw's positions and even better so if it fits into a normal standard 60% case. It will be compatible.

The screw's positions of the wood case are as followed:

About the wood options, I've already updated at ic and order link, you can find it here if you want.

Different wood would have different weight. Bubinga is the heaviest of the 6. if you prefer a lighter case, we would suggest Maple or Ash.

Sorry to tell you our current case is in black walnut wood, but not Bubinga. We've shot the photo under the sun, so it may be brighter than the sample.

While I don't have a case with the logo engraved inside, please expect it to be relatively smaller than the logo at the back, positioning at the left side within the case.

Oh, I just thought of one more thing: feet.

Any chance of getting some recessed circles for rubber bumpons/feet so that the case doesn't slide around (or have the bottom get scratched up)?

Sorry guys. It's been really busy this week, so we can’t reply in time.

About the feet, we haven't include a recessed area on the case for feet, however we do include removable mounting in the order. We decided we didn't want to fix an area for mounting, so you are free to paste and adjust it wherever you like on the wood case.

Hi, sorry again I don't have a DZ60 in hand, our wood case is a very standard 60% case, the rule of thumb is if it has the same screw areas as the one I marked (please refer to reply #15) it should fit. Also, if your pcb fits with standard sizes 60% cases such as 5 degrees, yes it would fit well on the wood case.

And nope we don't have an MOQ.

I can sympathize about being intimidated by assembling a board from scratch for the first time.

That's actually really handy. YD60BLE is one of the Bluetooth PCBs I really appreciate, it's much more stable and works so smoothly.

Bigger would only be trouble.

I have 3 other wood cases at the moment. All of them have warped over time as they age. Unless they’ve cut these close to final form and let them sit for a year or so, they will probably also warp in time. Imagine how bad that would turn out with a tkl or full-size board.

I just use various size feet/pads on the bottom to accommodate for warped cases to keep them from wobbling while typing.

Yes there is QC control, we will also check every case before shipping. Every case will be numbered and recorded before we send it out.

The sum has been transferred to the factory and production has begun. Our correspondent in the factory has informed us that there has been some delays earlier due to annual government inspection.
We are aiming to receive all woodcases in September. We will update if we received any news and once we received the boards.

Just got my YD60BLE PCB with Silent Gateron Blacks from KBDFans today. This is what I plan to put in my Createboard.
Just need to wait for that and the GMK Necro keycaps to arrive now!

I feel your pain, out of curiosity I once brought a plate that requires 2u shift and split backspace. It took me quite sometime to find the suitable caps...

With Typhoon Mangkhut approaching, we are advised not to head over to the warehouse until it passed, so QC will have to wait for the moment.
The place is watertight so please don't worry about the conditions of the cases. They are kept safe

We did a preliminary check on the cases last week, some of the cases will need to be returned to the factory for minor defects. But for others, we will start posting them out once full QC is done.

Hey guys, updates again, we've just finished QC. The first batch is now scheduled to be shipped this week. However we will also be sending some back to the factory due to minor faults, eg. scratches, requiring further polishing as such.

We wanted to make sure the case is of quality, so we've spend some time speaking with the factory and agreed on the work that needs to be done.

Tracking no. will be sent out to your email once the package is sent. So please do check your emails!

Most of the cases that require further polishing are Black Walnut cases.These are now back in factory and work has begun on them, so there will be small delays for some black walnut buyers. Most of the cases that were sent out now are Bubinga cases.

Does the rainy weather affect the cases too? If it's that wet wood warping might be an issue.

We've picked up almost all of the wooden cases, save for a few as there's only 2 of us and a lack of storing space...sorry for that. We will be picking the odd few cases left soon.

Nah, that's just the nature of wood. It changes shape for a long time. If you watch those dudes who turn wood on Youtube, they often let wood sit for years before using it. And then they still have issues with the wood swelling/shrinking/cracking

Yeah, wood movement is a big thing when constructing furniture like tables.
I've even encountered it in the Woodkeys BigSwitch kit. When it arrived in the summer, the dowel pegs were too tight and I couldn't get them in. I sanded them to make them fit, and I just noticed yesterday that they're so lose now the case won't stay closed with friction.
But I live in a area with high humidity in the summer and very low humidity in the winter, so I can expect a lot of movement over a years time.

I got my walnut and ash cases today. They look very nice. Just like the photo in the original post.

Just a word of caution about PCB compatibility. The standoffs used in the case are wooden with a brass receptacle in the middle. You will need to be careful out since the radius of the wooden part is fairly large. Because of this, some PCBs might not work without a few adjustments. There are some small nylon washers included with the board. I assume they anticipated interference with some PCBs. However, the washers don't seem to be thick enough to alleviate the issues on the Nerd PCB.

Tested PCBs that work without adjustment:

Sprit FaceW
Zeal 60
Satan 60
GH60 Rev C

PCBs with issues:
Pok3r (no room for the dip switch) You could probably carve out space or and/or add washers to the standoffs to make it work
Nerd 60. A few of the standoffs come into contact with the diodes on the back. You could dremel a lot of the standoff away and it would work fine.

I'll try to post a few photos later. Office in disarray from trying things out and I have to get it picked up first

They sound virtually the same. Case has some really nice acoustics, too. Fairly deep because of the way the caps are recessed.

Got my case today. Looks good, but had some minor dents and imperfections. Still happy with it but the visible mark/dent on the front of the case should have been spotted in the quality control.

But this is still gonna be a kick ass build. And I am gonna be one of a very few in Finland typing junk on the internet on this nice piece of wood AFTER christmas. I got my DZ60, brassplate, 67g zealios, some GMK stabs, this case and now just waiting for massdrop to ship my canvas keycaps.

This is gonna be my second or third end game.

Oh, and if there will be a round 2 count me in on a maple case...

So, I got my cases several weeks back. I did a test fit and everything was fine. Went to build a new board with these cases today. Now, neither of them work out. The Walnut won't fit a plate. I thought I would just try to go plateless, but the keycaps rub really badly on the edges. Same story with the ash. The ash has shrunk a bit less, but every type of keycap I've tried rubs on the edge. I don't happen to have a router or I would try to fix it.

Any possible way to get this fixed or issue a refund?

That sounds bad. Got my canvas keycaps today and gonna start my build with the walnut soon. Doesn’t look too promising after reading about your cases.

Any possible way to get this fixed or issue a refund?

That is very strange, I wonder what sort of treatment has the wood gone through. Don't even think shrinkage happens on kbdfans wood case - maybe under extreme temperatures?

Yes I have a KBDfans wood case. It is slightly tighter on the plate than when I got it two years ago, but this is far worse.

I have reached out to Createboard as well because I was not happy with the finish on my case, they have stopped responding at the end of Dec last year 😒
