It has been quiet a long time after Heracles-80.
Today we’re back with our new kit “Cupid-65”.

After our EAU-75 and Heracles-80, we’re trying 65% lay out kit this time.
To conform the theme of Greek mythology, we named it Cupid-65. Based on this clue, our design concept came out.   
Cupid is a cute chubby kid, so we incorporated a lot of curves into the design of the kit. And since Cupid is a bit naughty, we chose several vibrant colors for the Cupid-65.

 

Front:
The design of the front of the kit is characterized by simplicity, the overall aesthetic is minimalist. There are three available manufacturing processes to choose from: anodizing, E-coated and powder coating.







..Back：
In order to maintain a minimalist aesthetic, the back of the kit is a continuation of the front design with few embellishments, except for two symmetrical foot pads. The division line between the top and bottom covers is located at the bottom to ensure the overall integrity of the design. As with our previous products, Cupid continues to hide the screws with foot pad.

Special keycaps  (Not the final version)
We have two 2.25U shift on this kit. Initially, our goal was to design a layout that stood out from other 65% kits on the market. However, we soon realized that keycap sets, including the base ones, seldom include two 2.25U Shift keys. Therefore, we have included one 2.25U Shift key as a special keycap in the Cupid package.

Titanium anodizing plates

It is the continuation of Heracles-80, but we have moved the Titanium anodizing on both sides of the kit, making it more visible without being too flashy.

Cupid-badge

We employed exquisite craftsmanship in creating this badge to ensure that Cupid's facial expression and hair are perfectly represented on this small piece. Two blades were even broken in the process of making a sample. (Please note that this is not the final version, so we welcome your feedback.) While there are still some details that require refinement, we are continuously polishing it to capture Cupid's lively and adorable temperament on this little badge.

About the structure

Due to the limited size, we were unable to use the same structure as we did on the Heracles-80. Instead, we opted for a traditional gasket design for Cupid-65. The use of a gasket will also make it easier to control the quality.

Not a big fan of the layout (prefer a regular 65) and not really sure about the stretched design on the side but other than this, this keyboard looks fantastic.

Hello everyone, we are CHAOSERA!

It's been a while since we shared the news about Cupid65. We've been busy preparing, and now we have the prototype photos of Cupid65 in all colors. We hope you'll like them!

1.Colorways

Cupid65 has a total of ten colors and three different surface processes: anodizing, electrophoresis, and powder coating.

As the god of love in Greek mythology, Cupid is famous for his mischievous and cute personality, so we designed a rounded appearance and prepared ten color schemes for Cupid65.
We hope you can also find your own "cupid".

2. Custom Keycap

In our previous post, we mentioned that due to the layout considerations, Cupid65 would come with a standard 2.25u custom keycap. We also shared some sample photos at that time.
However, after careful consideration, we felt that the design on the keycap was too ordinary. We wanted something more meaningful and eye-catching. As a result, we created a simple sketch of an arrow piercing a heart and decided to use laser engraving instead of CNC carving. The final result turned out well, and we are pleased with it.

3. Cupid badge

Despite the time and effort required, we ultimately opted to use intricate engraving techniques to create the cupid nameplate. On the basis of the sample, we changed the color to copper-nickel, which solved the problem of heavy black borders around the character. The details of the Cupid image have been refined, and we have added a string of Greek characters for "Cupid" at the bottom of the nameplate.
Anyway, a lot of hard work has gone into this little badge, and we hope the community enjoys it!

Cupid65 - "Structure Intro"

Hello everyone, this is CHAOSERA, and we are delighted to meet you all again!

This time, we bring you a brief analysis of the structure of Cupid65.
Initially, we intended to incorporate the unique "Bottom gasket" structure from Heracles80 into the Cupid65.
However, due to the compact form factor of Cupid65, we have reverted to the traditional gasket structure.

Meanwhile, we add a layer of PE film beneath the switch pad.

Inspired by a roll of plastic wrap, an accidental experiment that led us to discover how placing a layer of plastic wrap beneath the switch pad could alter the overall sound of the kit.

Consequently, we reached out to numerous manufacturers specializing in film materials and obtained samples of various materials and thicknesses.
Through testing, we found that different thicknesses and materials of films had varying effects on the typing sound, which pleasantly surprised us.

The PE film included as an accessory with the kit allows you to experience the difference by assembling or disassembling it, helping you select your preferred typing sound.Moving forward, we plan to continue exploring and experimenting with various films, and we'll share our findings with the community.

Towards the end of the article, we'll also provide a typing sound comparison video for your reference.

2.Details design

Since Cupid65 features side lighting, there's a possibility of light leakage onto the front surface.
To address this, we have prepared two light-blocking strips and light-blocking foam, which will be securely positioned on both sides of the plate. This solution effectively resolves the issue of light leakage.

Next up is the gasket socks. Due to the nature of silicone, there might be slight deformations after demolding, making the installation of the gasket a bit tricky.
Considering this, we've retooled the silicone gasket socks, adding corner notches along the edges to serve as guides during placement. This adjustment makes the installation process much more user-friendly.

Today, we're going to show you the Wrist rest and Cupid65 HE.

Cupid wrist rist

I. Exterior
The design language of the wrist rest is consistent with that of the Cupid65, featuring a more rounded and full shape. Of course, it is still accompanied by titanium decorative plates with patterns inspired by ancient Greek mythology, and they come in a large size.

II. Colorways
Regarding the color schemes, we deliberated extensively, as the quantity of wrist rests prepared is limited and creating too many color variations would be quite intricate. Nevertheless, we still wish for each color variant of the Cupid65 to have its exclusive wrist rest. Thus, in the end, we decided to create wrist rests based on the 11 colorways of the kit. Due to time constraints, we can only capture images of a few color options. All color variations will be displayed when the product goes on GB.

III. Wrist Rest Details
We have designed a rounded inner edge on the side of the wrist rest that makes contact with the keyboard, allowing the wrist rest to perfectly adhere to the keyboard as if they were a single unit. The overall slope of the wrist rest is gentle, providing exceptional comfort when used in conjunction with the keyboard. To prevent wear and tear from contact with the kit, we have equipped the contact surface of the wrist rest with silicone pads and added a rubber foot pad to the bottom.

IV. Badge
Furthermore, we have included a nameplate on the wrist rest. Unlike the kit's more classical-style nameplate with an antique charm, the nameplate on the wrist rest leans more towards a cartoonish style, imbuing it with a playful and adorable look. The nameplate on the wrist rest is created using the PVD process, laser-engraved with patterns, and filled with enamel color, resulting in a splendid finished effect. The dimensions of the wrist rest's nameplate are identical to those of the kit's nameplate, allowing you to opt for replacement according to your preference.

Cupid65 HE - Hyacinthus edition

In addition to the previously announced ten colorways, we have introduced an extra special version - Cupid HE (E-coated pruple). The side titanium plates and the nameplate of the HE version are uniquely designed.




The theme of Cupid65 HE is also derived from Greek mythology. Hyacinthus is a deity in Greek mythology associated with plants and vegetation, and he was also the beloved partner of the sun god Apollo. Hyacinthus met a tragic fate due to the jealousy of the West Wind god and was transformed into the hyacinth flower from the pool of his spilled blood.
