Hi all, I’m new to the keyboard scene and want to figure out how this site works. I just backed an indiegogo project for the CYBERBOARD by Angry Miao, which I am very excited about. I am an architect by profession but have worked in several design related industries. I hope to combine my design knowledge into my new passion for keyboards in the future and feel this is probably the best way for me to become more familiar with the finer points of the market. Hello, I'm new here. I'll start with a little about myself. I'm a 17 y/old and I stumbled upon this community from Taeha Types. I work a ton so I can afford buying all my own stuff. I found a pair of GMK keys to which had a link to this forum. Once doing some research I've realized this forum is like the home of Mechanical keyboards. My dream build is a black or graphite aluminum case with a nice brass weight. I will probably go with  lubed Cherry MX reds for the switches and a brass plate. I might go for WKL, but definitely 60%. And I will use the GMK set I have already ordered ( Evil Dolch). I can't wait to learn more about keyboards.

Hello. I'm new. I recently had a mid-life career change and became a software developer. This has been net positive, but the downside is that it introduced me to mechanical keyboard enthusiasts and now I am poor.

Since buying a Corsair K68 Red 4.5 months ago I have bought the following boards, many of which are still to arrive

Hello! I have been a member on this forum for a little over 8 years already, but never really wanted or felt the need to be active. Now that has changed

I like nice things. Well thought out designs built with quality has an appeal I can't resist. I own high end guitars and bikes, I have built my own computers for years and I buy special roast coffee beans because store-bought isn't good enough, to name a few examples. Keyboards are no exeption, and of course I have been using mechanical keyboards ever since I found out about them.

I am pretty perticular about the keyboards I use and have gone through several different form factors and switch models (of cherry, am not interested in anything els) to find out what I like, and have been content with what I have managed to get so far. Getting more specific than that will require exponential effort and that is what has kept me from engaging earlier.

Recently though, I have had this urge to get more specific. My main, short term interest is to participate in and acquire keycap sets through group buys because that seems like the only way to get the highest tier of keycaps with ISO nordic as an optional layout. A more long term goal is also to build a really nice board using ANSI standard but nordic layout. For now my goal is to get in to a few GBs as fast as possible, and that is why I am writing this.

If you have gotten this far, you must be pretty eager to greet new people and share your expericence. I really only have questions about one subject, which is GBs.
1- How exactly do I enter one? Second question is semi related to this one I guess but yeah...
2- On one of the sets I am interested in it has a window set with dates and a few retailers assigned to different regions, including one in EU. Does the set appear as an option on that retailers site during this time frame or do I have to enter some place else?
3- Are there different procedures for different GBs or is there a typical approach or standard that all GBs adhere to?

Hi all, new entrant to the keyboard world and looking to design my own UK form factor keyboard (insert boo's here). This will be to complement the Samsung G9 49" beast monitor on black friday sales!

Hope I can get the right info for building a 100% keyboard or if I can convince myself for a TKL then will do. That UK layout is important though, I need the big enter key and all of the symbols in the correct places!

I'm a UK based CNC machinist and designer. Quite new to the world of mechanical keyboards. Although I've been using one for a couple of years (Glorious GMMK full size in black), I've got a lot to learn.

I recently launched a desk accessories business, and my second product is a key cap I've designed and prototyped (which you can hopefully see in the attached video). I've wanted to make key caps and keyboards for years, and finally took some time off work over the last week to get the prototypes made.

Anyway, I was wondering what everyone here thinks of it. It would be great to get your feedback, good or bad!

I'm not sure in which direction I want to take the channel, but it seems like there's already quite a few people building on YouTube so I'm looking to target people on the fence who have thought about building a keyb, or don't know that building one was a thing, hopefully to make this great community even larger.

All these high-end keyboards (RAMA, Keycult) are cool (and I hope to build one soon), but I have a soft spot for cheaper keybs that can be modded to feel high-quality, so that beginners can get a solid footing in the hobby and come out with something of quality without diving into the deep end. Do you think this is a good direction?

Hi, I am new. I have a tofu 60. I modded it by grinding down posts and sticking in neoprene in all cavities and placing an EVA foam under PCB and also sandwiched PCB and plate with a manually cut 2 EVA foam layers. I am planning to work more on it before moving to a new keyboard.

Hello everyone, I've been lurking here on and off for a while now...
Some time ago I got into mechanical keyboards ($$ ouch!)...

It took one MIIIW 600k (now modded with Kalih BOX burnt orange-s) and then an Cherry G81-1800 that i swapped the OEM MYs with he MIIIW's Kalih reds.

Sorry for no project pics, and yes I've put the plate mount reds to a PCB and aligned them by hand (it looks almost decent!) I used the excellent TKC-1800 board for this - the result is surprisingly satisfying once the dampening rings where installed...

So, why I post all this?

I am neck deep into the next keyboard - of course it had to be a scratch build, right?

Hi, this is Assassin. Been lurking for like four or five months now already built 2 keyboards: mysterium and SC Alice. Just decided to make an account now though I thought I had one earlier. I am making a gmk set currently called ancient scripture or Holy scripture, it will have the main ancient languages: Greek, Japanese, and Chinese; and I am planning to have hieroglyphics on the base set. Additionally, it will also have a Latin base because some people just want it plain and simple and it would still be a holy language because of Catholicism even though I am a jew but no one would get a Hebrew keyboard because it looks like Dvorak and has punctuation all over the place.  I will probably set up an IC in the coming weeks.

Kinda funny how I ended up here. I was trying to find some info on how to fix my Razer Blackwidow Chroma Tournament Edition (all the leds just went kaput on me, if anyone has suggestions on how to fix this I still have no leads. My best guess is that the circuit for leds is shot or loose. All other functions work just fine) and then I found the rabbit hole of custom mechanical keyboards. Found Taeha Types and the now I'm here, pleasure to make your acquaintance

Currently trying to start my first build (because I have had my eyes opened by how mediocre my current keyboard is and I can't go back xD) by figuring out what switches I should get. Anyone have any suggestions on a physical location where one could test out a fair number of switches? Or is my only real option to order a key switchboard? Along those lines I'm definitely going to get a hotswap pcb but need some suggestions as to where to find them.
