Looks great - but I can't see mention of the mounting style? I'm assuming top mount?

Love the color choices and design. That said...

I totally understand if you're against this, but can we have a "No Mars branding" option? I just don't like there bing any branding or logo on my keyboard.

At the risk of sounding dumb, can someone point out what the nametag is? Is there any customization that can be done?

I think the nametag is probably the MARS wording on the top.

Hi, maybe I misunderstood the zfrontier page but there is no way to choose a diferent color for the nametag/plate/weight right? It would be cool to split them, maybe if it is too much complex have same color for nametag + plate and another color for the weight, as it is now the only way to do alternate colors (eg, white top + cyan nametag/plate and cyan bottom + white weight) is to choose the color of the weight and leaving the nametag empty, it is a little silly.

Thanks

Damn, the option for both brass weight and plate is heavy! What will be the weight of the ALL BRASS option that is limited to only a few units?

I really like this keyboard, and I'm almost positive that I'm joining, but I have a quick question before I commit. On the imgur album, there is a variation of the keyboard with black top & bottom with a blue plate. However I don't see it on the site, was I simply just too slow :)? Also  it does support 1.25u left shift, right?

But the design of the keyboard looks very nice!

Ordered.  Is there any possibility to get it without the blocker (so I can have 1U alt/fn/ctrl between the spacebar and arrows)?  Would it be possible to have it not say "Mars" on the top?  That just happens to be the name of the failed project I worked on at my last employer, which ended badly.  I'm assuming the answer to both of those is no; I just want to make sure I ask.

I'm in! can I ask a clarifying question please, I chose the nametag the same colour as the top case, will it sit flush with the case or have an indent? I'm looking for a uniform colour across the top but am happy with an indented logo if that's what it will look like.

Cheers

FE numbers finished

wouldn't be better if it has the same font as the top cover?

I would personally prefer the font of the FE numbers if there was font matching.

I guess there will be no font matching based on the previous F&T Keyboards

Oh OK, thanks. That's disappointing.

Is it normal for this amount of silence with regards to updates etc?

I can't even figure out how the whole thing goes together... Where do the 2 clear acrylic things go, and how is the pcb supposed to be clear of the bottom of the case so it doesn't short?

Is there instructions I've missed or am I just being dumb?

The only way to build as an integrated plate, right? The PCB blocks the plate screws when built.

Before you start preparing solder, choose the nameplate you want, because you can't change it after that, unless you remove the shaft.

Just finished building a gold/gold/gold combo.
Very solid heavy unit (12 lbs), mine didnt come with the transparent diffuser, so kinda bummed on that.
Regardless, a perfect unit, no blemishes. And the only other downside is I didnt get my weight with the Founder edition font on the bottom, not a real big deal.

I also noticed for the people saying their PCB is too big, make sure you push the plate with the pcb attached as far bottom as you can, then tighten up the screws. There is a little wiggle play so if you toghten the board with the plate pushed up, it might “seem” too big.

I've not finished building yet but so far there quite a lot of metallic noise when pressing the keys. Anyone else have this and did it quieten once fully built?

Not complaining - just an observation

This didn’t work for me, PCB is pushed all the way in but seems to be too big around the USB port, there is no way to screw the board together with the pcb in without damaging it. Is anybody else having this issue?

I also have this issue, I tried pino38's suggestion but there was no room for the plate to move in my board. Sent a message to Slyvester so hopefully we can work something out. It's also annoying that the plate needs to be screwed in before soldering the board.

I also noticed for the people saying their PCB is too big, make sure you push the plate with the pcb attached as far bottom as you can, then tighten up the screws. There is a little wiggle play so if you toghten the board with the plate pushed up, it might “seem” too big.

Agree with the plate needing to be screwed in before soldering, I ordered an extra nameplate so I could swap them around but now it’s worthless once I solder the switches.

Ok, so I got it built and love it. Now trying to use the QMK.

Is it just me or is it one huge line that doesn't make much sense? Most of the keys say KC_TRNS and trying to figure out the layout seems to be a nightmare. I'm quite new to QMK so it may just be needing to train my eye though. Any help appreciated or if anyone has already created a UK ISO layout they could send my way that would be awesome thanks :D

I'm not sure what you're asking. How I built it with regards to what? Layout? The issues are just what I outlined above about not being able to use the qmk json file.

Or have I misunderstood you completely?

I can't even figure out how the whole thing goes together... Where do the 2 clear acrylic things go, and how is the pcb supposed to be clear of the bottom of the case so it doesn't short?

Is there instructions I've missed or am I just being dumb?

I've not finished building yet but so far there quite a lot of metallic noise when pressing the keys. Anyone else have this and did it quieten once fully built?

Not complaining - just an observation

Oh right. No, not really. Seems like it was a fraction too tall in the way others mentioned but it managed to fit.

Does that info somehow help with the QMK..?

Can't you just take the json that Slyvester uploaded and then use kbfirmware.com to create the ISO layout and hex? It's probably the easiest way I think

Thanks for the suggestion Nug! I was unaware of that site but the issue with it is that the layout only appears to be for ANSI so I cannot get the keys to line-up correctly with the layout. It otherwise seems awesome.

I had a look at the layout on kbfirmware and I think it may support ISO. Just that the |\ key is assigned in the ANSI position, so if you assign that key to ~# it might register on the key just to the left of the ISO Enter if that makes sense. The Z-row also has split left shift so there is an extra key there for ISO.

I don't use ISO so I don't know if there are other keys which are missing from the layout.

Much appreciated - I'll continue to look, however....

Some kind of miracle occurred - by chance the json opened up in Firefox and lo and behold it displays it in a nice interactive way that makes sense! I can now see the different layers, which key to hold to switch layers etc so I'm on to something! Thanks Firefox!

It’s poor form, the pcb is clearly the wrong size and he is taking no responsibility for it and asking users to shave down the pcb and potentially brick it (as one of my mates has done) as a solution. And now with the plate issue..

I had to buy small metal files and shave the plate for the space bar stabs and PCB for the fit. Even with that the body sits slightly misaligned but it works.

Poor form for such an expensive item

If anyone cares here is how I got mine to fit. I got around the stab issue by just using a ISO enter and was able to make my PCB fit by filing down the USB connector past the first mounting tabs. Everything fits and works fine now, I'm not sure about the long term effect of having 1/2 the mounting tabs for the USB connector but for now it works and no shorts. Not really happy about all the mods to get this working but I'm happy with the end result.

I only screwed the bottom part of plate so I can still separate the plate and top cover in case I want to change nameplate.

I just attempted to build my Brass Mars board, and ran into the same issue where the PCB prevents the top half of the case sitting properly. Shaved off a few mm of the pcb to make it sit flush (as recommended on here) and bricked the PCB. But what other choice did I have? Build an ill-fitting keyboard?

Will contact the maker and see if another PCB can be shipped out..but given the replies here, I have my doubts. If you're reading this, don't attempt to alter the PCB.

It is possible to get really close with some careful shaving of the pcb around the USB, it’s not ideal but it is a lot better than if you don’t. But the worst is probably the stab holes for the space bar! That **** is an absolute nightmare and requires a lot of modifications to work properly.

Weird, I didn't have any issues with the stab holes for my spacebar? My zeal screw-ins went in well.

So did everyone have the PCB issue, or is it just some folks? Because if it's everyone, and there's been no response, yet the maker is still creating keyboards..I feel like this backlash did not go far enough. I'm super bummed out that a limited-edition keeb I wanted to build might be ruined. Hopefully there's another PCB out there.

Oh sorry wasn’t the pcb holes but the plate holes they are not big enough for the stabs to fit comfortably without hitting the plate, at least on 3 boards I know of.

I had no issues with the PCB (standard alluminium edition) but the stabs I initially tried with the c3 and they didn't fit, with GMK instead I had no problem, I noticed that they are slightly different in size and the plate has really tight tolerances so probably this is why some people have problems with stabs.

Hey mate (and everyone else here) I'm now having these issues with the spacebar LOL..could you please elaborate in-depth on how exactly I can fix the issue others have reported?

I assume it's the same issue. When my 6.25u spacebar is sat on the board, my spacebar activates the switch endlessly, and does not seem to bounce up correctly. Once other keys are pressed, the spacebar cannot be activated again. However, once the spacebar is off..I have trouble seeing what exactly is wrong with the stabilisers, as others have reported.

I am using Zeal stabs, and I've finished soldering the rest of the board..so I'm very afraid someone is going to ask me to desolder this nightmare of a board -.-
