Orange WASD keys and the novelty key are pretty similar but not exact - the WASD set is a bit brighter.  I'll post pics tomorrow.

So...what's happening with Signature doing the Awesome and Reddit Look Of Disapproval set?   I keep getting PMs asking where to get that key.

As far as I know, we need vector graphics of the Awesome face.
Had not yet a responcse from SP about the format.

Reddit Look Of Disapproval is the a with dots key, right?

Vector file of awesome face has been around for quite a while (no surprise, since its very easy to trace to begin with).

Here is one (unchecked):

http://janek2012.deviantart.com/art/Awesome-Face-HQ-Vector-PSD-167769368?q=1&qo=1

Should be easy to modify it according to our needs (single color)

I'm still at the office right now. I'll go hunt for a machine that has Illustrator on it. Otherwise I'll see if I can do it at home, if no one else does the needed single color modification by then.

Done.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8273042/awesome.zip

Its slightly different compared to ripster's version (see the tongue), since I just based it on the original vector file. If the modded(?) ripster tongue is required, someone who actually knows what they are doing in a vector program should fix that.

I just did not care about an SVG-editing software,
just edited the source-code.

Was not much work to find the right path and tweak it su that the tounge is right.

This is not like ripster's version either though. Ripster's variant has the tongue "separated" from the base outline. Personally I prefer mine or your version though.

If you provide me the colored version in SVG-format, I can make the inside of the mouth black and the tounge yellow.

Update: Maybe you don't need to play around with it. I just tried to nudge the tongue up a bit, this results in similar results as in ripster's first draft. So... I think its time for another poll on which awesome face we go with for the key?

We now have:

A: Converted straight from the vector source file. Color adjustments made to get it down to one color.

B: Based on the above, but with tongue/mouth adjusted by 7bit

C: Based on ripster's original draft, tongue(?) is nudged away from the base outline.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8273042/awesome2.svg

My personal favourite clearly is B. Its the most recognizable and least detailed one. This should work out fine on double shot molding if they can mold freaking telephone symbols even.

I just figured out how to use inkscape to convert a PNG to SVG but inkscape is a bit crappy. Can't it be as comfortable as GIMP?????????

Sixty: What did you use to get the SVG file?

Sixty provided a link to a PNG-file. I would can't figure out how to convert the PNG properly (ie with round curves) to SVG using inkscape and wondered how sixty managed it.

I would have traced it in Illustrator and then saved it as svg, but then again I'm a noob.

That's hilarious about the crooked tongue.  Whatever JPG file I found had the same crooked tongue.  I just gave it a Photoshop spray and assumed the artist was having a bad day.

IgiTt!!!!!1!!!1!!

Illustrator is not free software!!!

But does not matter anyway.

Sixty is pleased with his version corrected by me using Emacs, Ripster loves it and bugfix loves it too!

Everybody is pleased.

Problem solved.

Update: Maybe you don't need to play around with it. I just tried to nudge the tongue up a bit, this results in similar results as in ripster's first draft. So... I think its time for another poll on which awesome face we go with for the key?

We now have:
Show Image

A: Converted straight from the vector source file. Color adjustments made to get it down to one color.

Show Image

B: Based on the above, but with tongue/mouth adjusted by 7bit

Show Image

C: Based on ripster's original draft, tongue(?) is nudged away from the base outline.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8273042/awesome2.svg

My personal favourite clearly is B. Its the most recognizable and least detailed one. This should work out fine on double shot molding if they can mold freaking telephone symbols even.

One subtle difference between these and the image in the OP:

How the hell did we all overlook this?! Gonna fix it on the B file and then reupload.

Edit: all  but 7bit, who mentioned it after draft 1, which I somehow overlooked.

Sorry that I've got to interrupt you, 7bit:

The artwork for Awesome with yellow background is OK, but it does not work out for the red version!

It is not possible to do  the Aweesome face from one and the same SVG in both color-versions!

The files above still show the old version, but illustrate the problem perfectly.
Please notice that the yellow version has a black frame, while the red version has no frame at all!

You still don't get it!

If you send these 2 files to SP, we will end up in an awesome Awesome black on yellow face, but will also end up with an ugly Awesome Monkey white on red face as well:

This is what we already have for the yellow face:

And this is what we need to get the Awesome red face:

The SVG must cover the black stuff. I can provide you with a larger PNG, but failed to make the SVG. (sorry)

You are looking at very outdated files, which explains the entire confusion. As I wrote 2 times before I updated my initial post about an hour ago and it was confirmed by several posters after to be correct. That is why I was very confused when you still said it was wrong!

Edit: Also in my initial (and updated post) you have to remove the extra space in the URL. For some reason the geekhack forum inserts it there upon submission, no matter how I format the URL.

I'm not sure if they have those symbols in stock. Would be easier to do these in text:

F1 LOUD
F2 LOUDER
F3 LOUDEST
F4 PLAY/PAUSE
F5 STOP
F6 PREV TRACK
F7 NEXT TRACK

Otherwise, take 25 sets and pay 3.85 per key.

In the function kit exist already keys for that purpose:
VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, MUTE, NEXT, PREV, STOP, PLAY etc.

PAUSE is part of the standard kit.

I'm guessing it would be something like from the previous Mo1 by white rice, where the F1 is on top and the loud is on the bottom at the side of the cap.

If possible try and see if they have the symbols for that; but if they don't then the wordings should be fine i guess.

Would it be possible for the F1 e.g. be aligned left like previous Mo ?

In the first post, all it said function kit had was

Quote
Function kit

    * F13-F24 (matching colors, ie F13-F16, F21-F24 in grey, F17-F20 in black)
    * F1-F4, F9-F12 (in black)
    * CUT, COPY, PASTE, UNDO, REDO, HELP, RESET (in black)
    * bottom-row: BEGIN, END, PRIOR, NEXT, DELETE, RESET (in black)
    * plus some other keys (all in black)

I don't really need all that. Just the Loud to next track ones you mentioned.

PS: did SP get back to you whether they can do those window slits in the doubleshot keys for say capslock, numlock, scroll lock, f9,f10,f11 ?

1 1/2-sized Modifier kit

    * CONTROL, ALT, SUPER, HYPER, META and CAPS LOCK
(1.5 sized keys for ancient keyboards)
    * additional modifier keys could be added.

Plus you will need a special spacebar which is not yet confirmed if SP can make it.

I got a message from SP:

The good news is:
Yes, they can make keys with transparent sections.

The bad news is:
No, it can't be the Cherry-style window, and ...

If they have got a window:
Nope, they can't do them double shot, because ...

It would be tripple shot in fact, which SP had not yet invented. :-(

There are 2 options:
- Pad-printing the text (costly, bad quality)
- Window only.

The window could be any simple shape like a circle, square, rectangle and triangle.

3 of these symbols (circle, square, triangle) are very classic. These appeared on the legendary Space Cadet keyboard and also on the later Symbolics keyboards.

I will make a graphic of the Ducky layout with those key caps.

I still wait for the prices by the way....
.................................
... $3.85 each! (if produced 25, as always)

OK, forget it with the Symbolics-like shapes, here is a pic I just received (hope it is allowed to post here; did not ask)

As you can see, no Cherry-style window.

What would come closest, would be an upright rectangle at the bottom of the key-top (not shown here).

What a shame rally, they can't do them with double shot labels.

There is such a thing as triple/quadruple shot keys.  I stuck a link in the "All About Keys" wiki.  Probably from Taiwan though.

I own a typewriter (brother CE-650) with tripple shot keys plus windows in some keys (Cherry double shots look thin against these, BTW).

But as long as we did not find another source (would be pleased to find one here in Germany or at least somewhere in Europe), we have to stick to SP.

There are 4 options:
- Blanks with each key differently shaped window.
- Pad printing on top with somehow shaped window.
- Pad printing on the front with somehow shaped window.
- Regular double shots with home made hole in the front.

Now you GHers (mainly Moogle) may decide!
