Love how clean the colors look, this is the type of thing that would work on absolutely beautiful on any board.
That being said, please consider adding a kit for 40's compatibility, it'd be criminal to not see this on the great variety of 40's boards being made in recent times, including those in IC currently!

Haven't picked up WoB yet and after this I probably won't have to. That being said, I'm not a big fan of how bright and garish the accent kit is. I think softer colours would complement the soothing grey/black base kit a lot better. Very excited for the GB!

Pictures are never a good way to gauge colors accurately but it does look very similar compared to the physical color sample on my desk. I'd say it's a safe bet.

Thank you for this! This is a great comparison and is accurate to what my physical GMK and custom color sample looks like. I can confirm the black is right in the middle of CR and N9.

I already have GMK Dark, GMK Nines, and bought GMK Stealth, but I will still buy this set. In fact if I saw this earlier I would probably have skipped the Stealth. I have way too many black/gray sets but that's just my color of preference.

Agreed with this. I like the grey accents, but the others would be improved by using be more muted colours imo, or just have bright legends on dark caps.

If pricing is of concern, I'd propose raising the MOQ of this set to get a better quote. Neutral, "<color> on Black"
sets will do decently well, and for vendors they are a very safe bet to stock up on extras on, since it will look good on most things
and there is 0 chance this will come out scuffed as you stick to stock colors. If you look at the recent GMK Aurora Polaris GB (another CR set),
that colorway sold almost 1600 base kits, half of which are extras. An attractive 1000MOQ pricing should be achievable with this too, especially if the icon-escapes are
relocated into the trashcan, where they belong
Edit: Wrongly assumed base color was CR due to the set name and me not reading properly. Since it's still very similar to CR, my point about the sales potential of this set still stands. Form filled, GLWIC!

The set is actually using a custom black color that is between CR and N9. It is a little bit confusing at the top of the screen but I'm going to emphasize it more. But yeah the odds it comes out scuffed are pretty low since it's still black at the end of the day. Regarding a higher MOQ, 1000 is obviously ideal but it's up to the vendor to make the final decision so the kitting would obviously be somewhat dependent on what MOQ this set is priced at. The icon escapes are actually quite popular according to the first 100 form repsonses but the IC hasn't had enough exposure that I am comfortable making any kitting changes yet. Yeah, I think that the portion of people that use accent spacebars is pretty low so I decided to ax them in favor of arrow keys which will most likely be of more use.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I don't think the purple or red accents work. The third dark blue grey is really nice. I would suggest changing the purple or red to a related off white or light grey instead. That would work very well. Just my opinion. Thank you.

My reason for suggesting a neutral colour like an off white for one of the accents was to compliment and contrast the dark theme but still in neutrals. Take a look at the renders of the Grid 650 Keyboard that were used, that grey set looked really well because they used a flat white almost very light grey for the enter key.
Please also consider UK ISO in the base or an additional kit.

I'm not opposed to it, I would like the base kit to be as "one size fits all" as possible since its just GoB and can appeal to everyone. As of right now, only 2 people have requested UK ISO out of 152 so it may not be a smart idea unless more people are interested.

I still prefer monochrome accents for this set in particular, but the new darker accent colors are already much better than before!
Either way will join this GB for sure once its finished.

Yes of course I'm hoping it will make it out of IC. I'm still trying to find a US vendor and I hope to get the price for the set as cheap as possible. As for a timeline, I won't know until I have a lead vendor that can coordinate with the other regional proxies.

If adding UK-ISO seems too much then please consider adding R4:Tilde/GraveAccent key - I know, it is exotic stuff but would make possible 60% & 65% layout without loosing Tilde/GraveAccent to ESC.

In fact, there were a lot of people who seemed to want Stealth to conform to basically what Grey on Black is trying to offer. While OP may not reach as many people who ended up buying Stealth inclusive of its Blackout kit, there's likely still a lot of people who did not have the ability to join a set and buy base + extra alphas to get this result.
This set also has some great accents, and more robust spacebar support.

@CS, I know I didn't take your comment as being negative. And I hope @skok didn't take my comment that way, either. I would really like to pick this up for HMKB stainless (if it ever ships...) My apologies if I sounded pessimistic or doubtful, I'm actually the exact opposite. I originally was thinking WoB to accent the black screws. The GoB is even more complementary IMO, and Stealth was darker than I wanted... So fingers crossed.

I think it is a good alternative for those who sat out the GMK stealth base + blackout kit.
Personally I sat that one out purely because I did not want to end up with a set of alphas sitting around unused.

I think no accents is the way to go.
I don't feel that they really fit, and they only stand to increase the colour-matching time.
Another suggestion would be to include a 1.25u convex key for those split space users in the base.

I prefer stock red, custom cyan and custom yellow but there is no such option.

Voted stock accents. If you're going for a custom RAL for the base key color, I'd think it's best to minimize the amount of potential color-matching issues with 3 additional custom colors (see: GMK Dracula)

I think it makes a lot of sense to go with stock colors for the accents. The colors look pretty good IMO, and it will help keep the costs down. It should also help avoid potential delays related to color-matching, as others have mentioned. Plus, the gray accents in the base kit are looking great, so there are plenty of good options to choose from here.

There's plenty of time to figure out the accents. Its not super essential but I do want to settle on a kit that most people interested in that kit would agree on. So still subject to change.

If it gets enough interest on the form, but if not then it'll just be basic ISO in the base kit. As for norde it typically struggles pretty hard. The other set I'm working on, GMK Norse, has a dedicated Norway vendor on top of an EU vendor and they have still showed a bit of concern about hitting moq on the Norde kit. So as of right now, I'm not sure.

Probably just an error in the render. I plan on redoing the majority of them at a later date since I'm not satisfied with the current ones. Could you elaborate on the centered arrows because I am also confused about that?

hoping it is a mistake in the render - makes no sense to me to have that style of arrows with OG icon mods. I would have brushed it off as a render thing but recently GMK bleached shipped with this style of arrows paired with OG icons, which was a bit disappointing to me.

Would an overall extension kit work with support for things like UK ISO, odd 60s, and HHKB/Mac R4 (2x 1.5u super, 2x 1u alt) be useful?
It could maybe make the base cheaper and the more esoteric layouts available to those of us that are happy to pay more for these.

I have a pretty good idea where I'm going with the accents for stock colors. The next iteration will most likely be final.

Glad to hear it! I've secured a trusted vendor for the GB later this year. It'll most likely be announced once I get the IC to a state I'm happy with i.e. renders/kits.

I'm going to exclude accent spacebars from the spacebar kit since I think the current configuration covers everything most people could possibly want. I don't think the additional cost is worth the small amount of benefit.

NorDeUk will most likely not be included since it typically struggles pretty hard. It's not completely out of question but only 13 people requested it out of the 330 responses so far. The ISO in the base kit in its current configuration will stay though.

Might be in on this one for dark toned builds. GMK Dark is too dark for my liking and WoB to much of a contrast. This might be a nice option.
Bump for an update regarding accent colors.
New colors would be custom RALs. Still undecided on the exact ones but the render below reflects a few options that I have looked at in my RAL deck.

That’s fair. At least it would be optional here though. There’s a lot more contrast in this set and the kitting is much better so I think it would be fine personally.

The set is staying as icon mods. I highly prefer them for this set because of the less busy look.

Probably not. Out of 400 responses only 25 people asked for a 40s kit so far. I am adding 3 key 40s for physical layout support but I do not plan on adding a dedicated kit since it will most likely have trouble hitting MOQ.

- The custom RAL has been changed to stock CR. I've decided to do this since the difference was negligible and will allow for more flexibility in kitting and pricing.
- I've added 3 key 40s to base as well as full Alice support.
- I've dropped accent arrows from base since I don't see them being particularly necessary and will only lend itself to driving up cost whereas I'd rather have alice/40s.
- I've done some new renders on the Onyx and 910 with more to come.
- I'm working on building up the rest of the kits and still deciding on some things (extension kit, r5) before I present them here for further feedback.
- Vendors will be announced next update most likely and the set is slated to run early q4

This was definitely a criticism I was expecting. In reality, the difference between CR and the custom RAL was completely overstated in the original renders. The difference is pretty arbitrary in real life and all I saw it doing was driving up cost on a kit that I would like to be comprehensive and well priced. My main goal for the set was a more subdued look with the grey legends, icon mods, and an encompassing base kit which is what it currently represents. I do understand the disappointment though.

Update 8/16/21
- I've uploaded all the kits as well as the deskmat. I plan on submitting quotes for the base kit with and without alice support. The reason for this is because CR spacebars should be useful to a good amount of sets as well as being relatively cheap. The IC form was about 50/50 on having it in base.
- I've added a Macro kit as well as an R5 kit. Both of which were requested in some capacity on the IC as well as the google form. Although they weren't the overwhelming majority they are definitely two kits I want personally. I think we definitely have more flexibility being that everything is stock.
- The accent kit is something I've gone back and forth on in terms of colors for a while. I've decided to lean into the bright neon colors as I think those contrast and look the best with the set. They add a good amount of flair for an otherwise subdued look if you so choose.
- I decided to switch the US vendor to Vala Supply in order to get a much sooner GB. The only thing we are waiting on should be deskmat protos and quotes from GMK. After that, we should have the green light.

- Please consider offering R3 Pg Up, R4 Pg Dn either in the Base kit or the Extension kit. Currently, there is no way to get those keys, so users who need them (primarily for various popular 65% layouts) have no way of getting them.
- The Extension kit currently has a second R4 1u Ctrl key, which is unnecessary as the only real use case for it is on 40% boards. It should be removed (e.g. to make room for the aforementioned keys) or, alternatively, changed to a generic legend such as Code or Meta so it can be used for other things.
- Yet another approach would be to merge the PgUp/PgDn keys with the extra generic key by having just two keys and giving them agnostic legends (e.g. R3 Init, R4 Out; you can find a full list here (https://discord.com/channels/686630942642536448/788502019044147241/798874398257578037)). I'm personally fine with this approach, but I know some people don't like it. If you don't want to experiment, doing what I said in the above two paragraphs is probably your best bet.
- On a different note, the default numpad 5 key in Base looks to be a regular, non-scooped key. This is likely just a rendering error, but you may want to fix it either way.
- It may be worth including R5 1u Ctrl, Alt, Fn keys in the Row 5 kit, for 1800/CP, HHKB and some other layouts that are likely to use a 7u bottom row (which is what the kit is targeting). In fact, I would say that these keys would be more useful than the two R5 macro column keys, but I guess those could be a personal inclusion or something.
- Last and kind of least, you could consider moving the second 2.25u Shift to Extension, and the Alice B to Spacebars, in order to remove some not strictly necessary keys from Base. However, I would argue against this, as you can currently get correct Alice support with just the Base kit if you're okay with using Shifts as spacebars. It was definitely based on my subjective opinion and personal preference to use the 65% column the way I currently have it kitted. I am not opposed to adding them but I definitely have a bit of hesitation being that we already submitted for quotes. If I swap them into the extension kit while removing the 2nd Ctrl key this should be unnecessary. Either way, I'll discuss it with my vendors. I'll look into changing the legend in the extension kit before GB if I don't substitute in the PgUp and PgDn keys.

5: This is a great point but I don't imagine many people buying the r5 kit are using 1800 or HHKB. That is just an assumption on my part and there really is no way to tell who will be buying it. The goal of that kit is to get 7u r5 support on 60s, 65s, and TKLs. Bottom rows are completely subjective and there are always many options, so although it may not be optimal for 1800 people to use 4 1.5u keys, at least the physical compatibility is still there. I will most likely keep the kit in its current configuration as that is what I am personally happy with.
6: I intend on keeping B in base as well as the second 2.25u shift since you can have physical compatibility using the shift keys as you said. Also, I wanted to keep the spacebar kit just spacebars since it keeps it just one color as well as anyone else who might need CR spacebars isn't getting an extra key that they don't need. I'd say it works out for everyone this way.

I do think that swapping those keys into the Extension kit instead of the Ctrl is the best option at this point.

1800 i agree on, but i think HHKB is actually quite popular, but those people are covered by just using arrow keys like most ppl do with OG doubleshots

The kits are staying as is because this is how we submitted for quotes. The only change to the extension kit is the r4 control key has been replaced with a r4 double zero since the control key was redundant.

GMK told us q1 or 48 weeks from delivery. Being that there's no color matching needed and we go straight to queue I think q3 is a bit excessive. Some vendors have q1 listed and others q3, numbers out of a hat. Most sets have been a year and some change. 2 year wait times are usually from color matching taking too long. Also if you are fine taking WoB over this set then it probably wasn't meant for you lol since the whole point was a lower contrast set with icon mod and options for extension/r5. No need to be so callous lmao

Some vendors have q1 listed and others q3, numbers out of a hat. Most sets have been a year and some change. 2 year wait times are usually from color matching taking too long. Also if you are fine taking WoB over this set then it probably wasn't meant for you lol since the whole point was a lower contrast set with icon mod and options for extension/r5. No need to be so callous lmao
not saying that your set is bad or something in that direction. Since I only look at EU vendors I only got the info "Q3 2023" which is a big slap in my face because every set I have partaken in got delayed by at least several months by now. So I was thinking that this set will probably have dealys as well and arrive in 2024 at best which tbh isnt worth the wait no matter what set I order. Hope you understand my perspective now and that I didnt wanted to callous.
