Hi everyone!

This an IC for the North Pole themed keycap set.

Initially, my plan was to simply design bilingual Latin/Cyrillic keyset that would not look weird to a native Russian speaker,
but it happened to expand into much more than that. I also had quite some issues with the famous Cherry Cyrillic set, I hope to address them as well.

For this project I have created a custom legends. In addition to that there are monosets with minimalistic icon modifiers and novelties.

The set will be produced by Signature Plastics using PBT with dye-sublimated legends. The keycap profile is DSA.
The base color for the set is cool white WFJ, blue modifiers are BFE and accents are red RAR.

Initially I planned to have deep dishes for homing, but unfortunately it has a much smaller legend surface and I didn’t want to move legends too close to the edge or move the baseline.
For this reason base alpha set has homing bump while monosets use a homing bar.

Contents of the set can still change. Feedback is welcome, let me know if you miss something and I will think about it.

Really love this - I would say it's jumped straight to the top of my list, but the one thing holding me back is the lack of ISO support.

Any chance? It would seem fitting for a 'Russian' keyset!

I second the inclusion of an ISO Enter key. Also suggest the inclusion of 1u AltGr for ISO support in orth/ergo boards as well as 60% w. nav cluster PCBs (e.g. BananaSplit60 etc).

That being said, the keyset looks absolutely fantastic. I hope it will happen. I'd like to throw money at it.

Looks great, would love a 2u novelty, and some 2u and 1.5u blanks in the blanks set.

(my preference would really be for a blue ~ 1.5u key, and a blue 1.5u quote key, but i doubt those would be useful for anybody else.)

it's on my Sol. Its essentially an ergo keyset, but i just like legends. I can piece one together with a bunch of other sets and fill in with novelties, but those will either have to be blanks, the color scheme would be off, or the keys wouldn't be a good size.

So like i said i think those 2 uses are just something I would like, not something useful to everybody.

i've linked to a mockup of what i'm looking at, but any chance to reduce the number of sets would be helpful.

No, I will not make these changes. In modern Cyrillic, such an outline is not actually used. I am a native speaker and graphic designer and understand what I am doing. Thank you for your attention)

It's a really smart move to go with mono alphas and icon mods to reduce key count.

The keyset is still lacking ISO support though because of the lack of an ISO Enter key. Which is weird since the language support is there already.

Nordic countries use ISO layouts with ISO Enter keys. A keyset called DSA North should reflect that, right?

That may be since we are a smaller user base. :/

However, without an ISO Enter you also drop support for several European layouts, not just the Nordic ones...

I think 40% is pretty good already. We will buy novels anyway, the novels will add some more compatibilities.
More 1u or 1.25u keys in novels will be better.

To my mind, it is not a good idea to use red color for Cyrillic letters as well as for keycaps. Red color on keyboard irritates many people.

Two colors for two languages convenient solution. Do you use bilingual layout?

I do not mean that there is no need in two colors, but red is not the only one solution. The other possible problem is the white color if it is as white as the teeth of Hollywood stars.

It's a pity that your goal is to create a piece of modern art, not a keyset for everyday use. Unfortunately there is nothing to choose from when it comes to keycaps with Cyrillic layout.

It just means that you chose the wrong theme for the set. I am not the only one who does not like these colors on keyboards. And have you ever seen books with red text? What about red theme for any OS? Red ceiling or red floor? Red wallpapers? Red color is the one that should be used carefully. By the way, have you ever heard that professional programmers prefer dark themes for IDEs and code editors?

Sorry, but there no such things as wrong theme for the set, that's an author's choice. If you don't like it, doesn't mean it's wrong. Simply pass on this one and hopefully there will be another set more to your taste, maybe even from the same TS, I know he's working on other designs.

By the way some professional programmers swear by light colored themes in IDE over dark ones, which further confirms this is a deeply personal preference.

Speaking of this particular design light keycaps with two languages in two tones one of which is red is arguably the classic combination. In my mind I think it looks pretty cool because it is modern, but at the same time an homage to cyrillic keyboards of the past.

Can't believe someone said you should not do this theme because common sense is blablabla...... I think it's gone too far as a suggestion.
As a designers, I also want to say this to those people: Pls show some respects to designers. If you don't like it, just don't buy it or say 'I don't like it'. Don't tell other people what to do or what is right. Grow up man!
