one of the largest water distribution agencies in the United States is warning six million California residents to cut back their water usage this summer, or risk dire shortages.

asked residents to limit outdoor watering to one day a week so there will be enough water for drinking, cooking and flushing toilets months from now.

It depends a bit on where you are specifically, not all of the southwest is in such dire straights for water, but you can still end up in a major fire zone. While that stinks, almost everywhere in the US has some sort of natural disaster waiting for you be it hurricanes, tornadoes, snow storms, ice storms, floods, earthquakes... At this point I pretty much just need typhoon, tsunami and volcano to complete my world natural disaster frequent flyer punch card.

It gets it's share of fires (mountain fires are worse) and they lack the aerial equipment like California or Canada to fight it when it does happen.
Depending on where exactly you may be within range of the New Madrid fault to do some serious damage, there's also coal ash ponds and rather poor job prospects

The New Madrid Fault is 500 miles away at the other end of the state, but there was a big forest fire around Gatlinburg a few years ago.

Laws are stupid EVERYWHERE and getting worse by the day in some places.
If those are your biggest complaints, you aren't going to find much better elsewhere.

I lived there a long time as well as a lot of other places, it may not be at the very top of my list of places to live but it's much closer to the top than the bottom.

I've travelled a lot, and definitely places that are cool to visit are not usually places I'd want to live and vice versa. Which is also why I don't understand why there are tourists that come to the Netherlands.

Anyway, Florida is a place I'd frankly rather neither visit nor live in, I've heard nothing but bad things about it :XD: .

I liked Florida...
Okay, yes it was hot as heck, and the humidity... wow. And yes some of the people are crazy... But as a young person in the military with ocean/beach/boat access and flush with cash it was a lot of fun. It was a constant party and hurricanes were just an excuse to ramp them up.

While I love "Florida Man" stories and there is a lot of craziness in Florida most of it is unlikely to effect the average person much despite how insane it seems based on the news, I can't always say the same about other parts of the U.S.
I'd rather go to Florida than much of the midwest. *cough* Ozarks *cough*.
