I sometimes end up with REALLY dirty keycaps that look like they've been buried in the mud for decades. I usually use soap and denture tablets to clean them, but then I still have to through every single keycap and wipe it down which gets very monotonous, very fast. I'm hoping there is a decent ultrasonic cleaner for under $50 or so that will do at least 80-90% of the work for me, if such a device exists.

Does ultrasonic clean better than say, a blender ?
Cuz you can get one of them cheapo blenders.. put a small piece of perforated aluminum above the blades, fill it with soapy water, then throw the caps in.

From my experience ultrasonic works very well. Using a blender sounds like a recipe for disaster. :eek:

If you look at the dishwasher, it's really just a big blender..

I have one like this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-3L-1-3-Gallon-60-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-w-Timer-Jewelry-Glasses-Tattoo-Dental/112526301070) and it works great. It holds a full 104 cap set and makes them look like new in about twenty minutes.

This one is quite strong. 2l is the absolute minimum for keys. 3l can be useful for more objects.

It gives really good results. The link is only to suggest the product, not the most cheap option. I've paid mine 90 EUR including delivery.
The best professional brand is Branson, widely used in chemical laboratories

Bought a cheap Chinese one for $14. Hopefully it will work well enough to get a few keysets done and then once I actually have the money I can get a professional one.

Did you try the denture tabs in the ultrasonic cleaner with the keycaps?

I've cleaned caps, stabs, switch parts (stems and housings), and other crap around the house with it. It works nicely on plastics with warm water and dish soap mixed in a bit.
