I'm delving into The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind again. It's been 15 years since I first played it and man, it's good to be back in Vvardenfell. This time I added the Morrowind Overhaul mod kit. Highly recommend.

It's really cool that older titles can become so massively popular out of nowhere again

It is surprising, it's a fun game and seeing them drop a sequel to improve the first game is huge.  Seems like games and music are shifting back in time the past couple of years (but releasing with updated assets).

I'm also playing Animal Crossing sometimes

Is RDR2 online actually decent? I finished the campaign and didn't really give it a chance. May have to return.

A year ago I'd say no, but it gets better with every substantial update. Unfortunately those are like 3x a year. There's a huge one coming tough where they are going to add heists and houses/hideouts like in GTA Online which will liven things up a lot.

I will agree Athena has the best Call in the game hands down. With enough poms you can get a straight 12-14 second invincibility. You can kill or grievously wound any boss in the game in 12-14 seconds even with an otherwise ****ty build. Her call is so much better than any other in the game it's not even fair.

Got reminded of Caesar III a couple of weeks ago. I never actually owned it back in the day but I think I'd a demo of the 2nd level I played to death. Bought it for a fiver on Steam and I've been playing it pretty compulsively since. It's really easy lose 3 hours at a sitting and being able to go on Youtube and work out what you're doing wrong in the modern era makes city building games a lot more forgiving.

I played through Shovel Knight and really enjoyed it. Rather skeptical cos I was feeling a bit burned out on NES style platformers but the game is spectacularly well polished. It's more actiony than Metroidvania-ish as well so doesn't outstay its welcome. Neither is it as difficult as something like Celeste which I got a bit bogged down in by the midway point.

Playing Hitman 2 (2018) again, getting hyped for 3. Man what a fun sandbox game. So many variables. I do wish the AI was a bit better, but maybe it will be in 3.

edit: just discovered HM3 is an Epic Game Store exclusive for the first 12 months. So I guess those communist Tencent bootlickers won't be getting any of my money, who's to say if I'll even be interested when it hits Steam a year from now.

Played and almost immediately refunded Overgrowth. The setting and parcor system are really fun.
But this game has the worst combat system of any game I have ever played in my entire life. That is saying a lot.

I heard people saying its pretty short when you do main quests only.

If you're the type to only do the main quests, Cyberpunk is not for you. That being said, the main story is short, but only in the context of open world RPGs. It's maybe 15 hours.

I'm the type of player who have been playing Witcher 3 for 250 hours and still haven't finished it :)

I just asked about length of main quest to know how makers count it. W3 was said to be 50-60 hours main quest game as far as I remember.

Mostly Runes of Magic as a filthy casual.  I'm not a compulsive spender, which can be a costly for some that get sucked into the PVP or hardcore PVE aspects of the game ($100-150/month+).  I recently picked up DOOM IV, Fallout 4, and Skyrim remastered, and yet I'm still playing some goofy MMORPG WoW clone that is just as buggy as it was in 2009.

I bought Prodeus a couple days ago. I'm still undecided on whether I like it. It's fun, and I like the style, but it's in early access and definitely still needs some tweaks.

-The map is terrible, so I don't even use it.
-The difficulty is not high enough. It has seven difficulty settings, and I'm playing on the highest one, and it's not hard, partly because checkpoints don't reset enemies, meaning that dying in a fight has no consequence.
-Level design is pretty decent, but the setting feels repetitive (high tech complex mixed with a volcano).
-Enemies are not varied enough.
-The blood is way over done. Everything turns into a geyser of blood when the player shoots it. It's to the point that it's just annoying and loses its effect.

I guess it boils down to feeling too easy and repetitive, but I can tell it has potential.

I'm still on Monster Hunter World, looking to finish the Iceborne expansion before Rise comes out. Probably still going to return to that game after finishing it, but most of my time will be going to Rise at that point. MH is too addicting for me lol.

Other than that, I just started Octopath Traveller on my Switch, because apparently I'm some sort of masochist and can't stop myself from starting & getting invested in these ages-long games! Between Monster Hunter's long grind cycle, Octopath's 8 storylines, my recent thought of jumping back into the Diablo-like series I enjoy (the Adventures of Van Helsing), and the theoretically infinite replayability of the roguelikes I tend to return to from time to time (Noita, Hades, Risk of Rain 2, etc.) combined with how long it takes to unlock everything in them, I'm starting to think I don't like having free time where I'm not playing games lol

Not even counting my recent thought of playing through the entire Witcher series from 1-3 because the crossover missions from Monster Hunter make me want to hunt down a Leshen in its own game, I really can't stop myself.

However, now I kinda want to try it again, play that Doom 3: BFG Edition version.

Quick note on the BFG edition, it kinda split a lot of the people who liked Doom 3, because while on one hand it was updated a little bit and used some higher-res textures, on the other they messed with the lighting effects (the selling point of the original for a lot of people) to make them a bit more diffused, which led to fewer stark differences in lighting and fewer moments where you felt it was harder to see a monster.

Also, they made it so you can use both a gun and your flashlight at the same time, which kinda ruins some of the more suspenseful moments imo.

BFG is the only way to play D3 honestly. Lighting can be fixed and adjusted, but bad controls cannot (I mean literally the flashlight mod I guess)

Oh, I'm not saying it's a bad way to play the game. Especially if you're going for a console edition over the PC edition. I'm just saying that between the 2 I prefer the more suspenseful feeling of the original, as the inability to use the flashlight without leaving yourself temporarily defenseless adds to the more horror-themed vibe they were going for with that particular entry. I understand if you prefer BFG edition though, the original is definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Doom3 was designed in the CRT era.  So to get authentic DARK FEELS you gotta have either OLED or CRT.

Exactly the reason that when I get together a WIN98 PC for older games I'm going to be getting a CRT monitor. Those games were designed for CRT monitors, and it feels wrong to use something else when the tech is right there and begging to be used in the time we have before it stops functioning.

OLED you're saying...
Well, so I'm in.
Now I definitely want to play it.
BFG of course.

See, just started to play Splinter Cell Blacklist for like 5th time, only this time I really noticed advantage of my new OLED screen. Those black areas in this game look totally different than on my previous VA panel.
Ok guys, will try BFG tonight and let you know😊
I bet I will fail, ****ting my pants after 10 minutes.
Like years ago playing F.E.A.R.😁

Have fun with it! I may not prefer BFG edition myself, but it is in no way an inferior version. Like keebs, it's kinda up to preference!

As for myself, I've just been crashing after work the past few nights, but I've gotten into a bit of a gaming mood. Not sure if I'm going to play Monster Hunter, Halo, or Doom Eternal just yet though... Maybe even some Octopath Traveller, but I want to get my speakers replaced first so I don't have to use headphones to hear the voice acting when running it through my monitor. Probably going to stick to PC stuff over my Switch until I can get that taken care of.

What speakers are you after?
I'm also in the middle of changing my speakers.
Selling my HK soundsticks and probably getting Kanto YU2.
