so now what. lol.

We compromise and have the meetup in Pittsburgh.  Duh.

Okay so initially this was just a joke, but then jacobsmirror started looking into venue options in Pittsburgh and now he and att1cus have agreed to co-host the meetup in Pittsburgh if desired.  So we'd have a slightly more population-central location for those driving in, and a killer combo of hosts for the event.  I've never been to Pittsburgh, but I've heard great things about its recent revitalization efforts, so it seems like a great option.

My current thought is to go forward considering Pittsburgh as the final-round city, in place of a merged Columbus and Philadelphia, and have that go against Atlanta for one final round of voting.  Does anyone have strong feelings against this?  Discuss.

I was for either of the two, so Pittsburgh works just as well.

Since Philly and Columbus are merging, i will put up a final vote for 7 days with Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Austin.  Dont think it would be fair to keep austin out of the vote since they are technically third place after the merger.

Adding Austin makes perfect sense.  Thanks for putting the poll up!

+1 for Pittsburgh. I can see Falling Water on the way, Andy Warhol museum, and it's only 5.5hrs from Philly. I can do that as a 2-3 day total trip.

It also means I have to finish up a few boards before the meetup.

Pittsburgh would be excellent!

Anyone looking for something else interesting to do in the area, check out "The Mattress Factory", it's an installation art museum, REALLY cool. I go every time I visit pitt.

Plus my brother could come (he lives there), and maybe get him into keyboards like I am :o

Is there even the slightest murmur of the time of year?Like spring, summer, fall?

Typically KeyCon falls somewhere in the Summer timeframe, but that's not a hard limit or rule.  It can all depend on the organizer's availability and maybe some other factors I'm not thinking of.

Yeah, I looked back at the previous years' dates to get an idea, and ended up with some spring and summer dates, so that's what I figured.

I just REALLY hope I can make it! (And that it's in Pitt, that's the only place I could make it to)

haha. this just keeps getting better and better for me.

I'm only 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh. Philly was 3, and I could handle the 6 to Columbus okay.

Pittsburgh airport is small, but they do a lot of Southwest flights and it is about a 30min drive from downtown.

I know a little about the area and would be willing to help the fine lads Matt and Bill coordinate some.

Couldn’t make it to nearby Philly last year due to timing but hopefully I’ll be there this year, it’s about a four hour drive for me.  Might need to bring the fam and make a weeekend out of it.

7.5 hour drive from CT  :-X

Might be a hard sell to my girlfriend  :)) Which weekend are we looking at again here?
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Anyone from the Boston metro/southern NH area want to carpool? I've got 2 free seats. 3 if you wanna squeeze 3 in the back.
Drive down the day before, drive back the day after.
I'm staying at my brother's, but you'd need a hotel or something I think.

I may or may not take you up on that. Its a 10 hour drive, so I'm certainly hesitant.

I drive down there to visit my brother every once in a while, it isn't that bad.
Usually I'd be takin' the 2-seat turd-mobile, but my girlfriend is letting us take her impreza, so it'll be a much smoother, quieter ride than I'm used to!

It may be a vote, but not guaranteed.  If the venue and organizer's time restrictions only allow one option, then that may be the one.  Will have to wait and see what they come up with though, I know they're busy finding the perfect place.  :)

I'm also researching from my end here in the Philly burbs, but a local source would help very much in this process.

I'm sooo stoked about KeyCon being in Pittsburgh, it's the city I've been born and raised in. I'm a Pitt alum and lived in the city itself for the past 5.5 years. I'll 100% be there, even though I'm moving to Dayton in two weeks - with that said I can check out venues in the next like, week and a half if needed.

I'm definitely interested in advising on areas of the city to check out (and places to avoid), venues, food, nightlife, and things like that. Let me know if you guys have any questions about anything!
