I'm really into this set. Consider adding 2x 3u spacebars to the spacebar kit, and forcing accents on esc and enters to save a little space in the 40s kit

I feel like I should theoretically really love this set, but even though I love fitness/cute gymwear, the fitness-inspired novelties just strike the wrong note for me and I can't figure out how to articulate why.  I think everything that is actually appealing about fitness/gym aesthetics doesn't translate well to keycaps, I guess?

The colors of the set are nice overall, but not super original or interesting on their own.

There's nothing objectively wrong here, but I think this just isn't for me (even though I feel like it should be lol). GLWIC!!

The color reminds me of another set, but cant remember which one lol.

I don't really know about most of the novelties. I'm a kettlebell guy so I do like the kettlebell one, the others don't feel right but I cant put it into words (maybe lack of cohesiveness?). I also like the idea of the iso nov but I feel it could be more refined to fit the "fitness/healthy-lifestyle" theme since it just kinda looks like a fruits+food bowl.

Don't know about that... the best selling colors when it comes to gym clothing is grey, most gym equipment is grey/dark grey/black as well (unless customized), barbell brigade for example uses neutral colors alot and of their grey selection sells out quite quick.

EDIT: but yea I think they shouldn't have said "colorful" since alot of gym clothing is pretty plain lookin.

I think the word 'colorful' got lost in translation somehow.

Gym wear which we wear / like are always darker shades of blues / grey with colorful accents.
Now I cannot make a 1:1 comparison of a gym wear to a keyset.
The zany /crazy colors/ patterns on gym wear might look good but on a keyboard would just look out of place.

Yeah, my concern here is that the lighting on your renders will affect your color choices, if your renders were lit a little more dimly it'd resemble JTK NS very closely, and I can't tell if the colors are different due to lighting or due to color choice.

People want to know what they're going to be buying and sharing the colors is the only way to know for sure you'll be happy with your purchase. I am not saying that to be elitist or nitpicky, it is the ONLY way to effectively demonstrate the intended colors to consumers.

I use 4 screens ( different budgets ranging from very cheap to expensive) + 3 phone screens. I can honestly tell you that the colors are very different in them all. Ofcourse a pink wont be blue but when complex colors like blue grey, blue blacks are concerned, it is very easy to miss those colors completely. In one of my monitors, the modifiers look black, which is definitely wrong.

I mean I can assume yall are using custom colors, if you don't list colors, it's probably mostly custom. The point of a colors section is to list colors so those who do have books can look at it to judge and those who don't to be able to google colors to get a rough idea of what the final product might look like.

Your concerns regarding colors are valid. I think there is no point going through this argument anymore. I will take some pics tomorrow from my D2 book and release the colors tomorrow. :thumb:

There are already 2X3u spacebars in the spacebar kit. Or do you mean something else?

Forcing the accents on Esc/Enter on the 40s would reduce the price very little. Plus it gives a bit of flexibility to the 40s users as well. So I dont think its worth it.

I expected this set to be some NEON EYE MELTINESS but it looks good!

The initial iterations did have EYE MELTING NEON colors. But I ended up scrapping it because it looked worse to my eyes.

I think I tried a barbell in the ansi enter. Looks weird because of a lot of negative space. I will try to do some iterations to see if it fits.
Regarding the word "motivation" why do you think it needs redesigning?

For a protein shake novelty- i was thinking those "shaker" bottles you see everywhere at the gym. Though I guess the water bottle novelty is all ready close enough. Those shaker bottles do have a pretty distinct look.

Or, I guess you could do a novelty with one of those giant powder bins all the supplements come in, with like a scoop sticking out. Or maybe just a scoop with some powder in it..

For a protein shake novelty- i was thinking those "shaker" bottles you see everywhere at the gym. Though I guess the water bottle novelty is all ready close enough. Those shaker bottles do have a pretty distinct look.

Or, I guess you could do a novelty with one of those giant powder bins all the supplements come in, with like a scoop sticking out. Or maybe just a scoop with some powder in it..

If GMK wasn't so square, we could have a steroid novelty. I want the little bottle from Duke Nukem 3D.

For clarification:
Its quite difficult to make a 1:1 comparison between a keyset and the gym. The colors were inspired by the gym outfits and not gym in general.

As for the comparison with JTK NightSakura I REALLY do not see it, the overall color palette is very cool toned (at least on my screen) and if I would compare this set to another one it would be GMK Fuji on the accents.

From a design POV, pink should not have to cater to only one half of our community. Personally I like pink a lot. On the other hand I dont like neon green or even flashy oranges. I get to like whatever color I want ( I hope so xddd  )

We can all agree that the colorway itself is undeniably good and the novelties are great, the problem is that many find it hard to connect these colors with gym stuff. If you join S&M discord, you'll see that Fitness has the lowest interest in the 3 current ICs (Pharaoh, Fitness, Zen Pond) although Zen Pond is the latest IC. I do respect the designer's decision because it's his vision.
About Lavender, the main color is purple and the set did a good job representing the flower, it's about the theme and the chosen color.

I partly agree with you on the fact that we do need to make some changes to the novelties to make it more enticeable. However, the theme will still remain fitness related.
Regarding the IC, I think this is quite niche where as Pharaoh and Zen Pond is more mainstream. The likelihood of people associating with this will definitely be smaller than the more mainstream concepts.

When I look at the concerns of how a gym related set cannot have the colors this set has I am still baffled. I just cant see how it cant be related. The same applies for people who cant make the connection. This is super super subjective.
But in the next iterations I will work on making the novelties more appealing and more fitness related. This would mean that some of the novelties would be completely removed.

Why would anyone think it is ok to resort to assuming there are only two genders in this day and age.  Doubling down by joking about the set being "Community Correct" just makes you look like more of an ass hat.

Even as a straight, white, male, assigning colors to genders is offensive.  Color and gender should not be correlated.  It would be great, and show you actually care about selling sets, if you could update the wording, and remove gender from the equation.  Thanks.

Update :

1. Kitting
   a. The black accents were removed entirely. From what feedback we received, it did not add much flair to the kit. Similarly, the black novs were removed.
   b. People really seemed to like the pink alphas legends instead of the regular white ones. So we decided to bring it back.
   c. Accented and mod ISO Enters were introduced in the base set.
   d. 4 Key 40s support has been added to the base.
   e. We went back to the drawing board with the ansi enter novelty and created a new one. We also added a new R3 1.75 novelty.

2. With all these changes, all the renders were redone to reflect it.

3. Vendors:  We are really happy to announce that Mekibo is our US vendor.

3 key was invented to provide the highest possible coverage for 40s boards with the fewest keys. Many designers have turned 3 key into 4 key with R2 esc to offer accent keys to 40s users. If a 40s user wants a mod colored esc, they can simply use R2 End rather than Esc.

By forcing mod keys without accents in your 4 key 40s, not only do 40s users not get access to accents (which seems like an essential part of the colorway here) but you also have added a key that only serves the purpose of providing legend accuracy.

I’ve been watching this keycap set for a few months and keep being upset about having such mixed feelings about it.  As an avid keyboard hobbyist AND clearly a major fitness enthusiast & also a fitness professional, I so badly want to love this set because of the fitness theme as fitness is such a huge part of my life, but here are my honest thoughts…..and I’m sorry for not writing this sooner and hope I don’t upset or offend you in any way, as that’s not remotely my intention here at all.

On one hand I generally like the base colors, but on the other hand the pink accents throws me off a bit with the very feminine feel it adds as the accent color and for the numbers/letters.  It doesn’t make it a deal breaker per say, but for me personally it just doesn’t all quite work well together, and doesn’t really feel like it’s at all connected to a gym or fitness theme (this is just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt).

Secondly (again personal opinion here), but the novelties are also incredibly feminine feeling to me, and not something I personally feel remotely compelled to buy, as they remind me of those old follow-along VHS fitness videos from the 80’s & 90’s that our Moms would watch on TV.  That’s especially disappointing for me as I’ve been waiting and hoping for a fitness themed keycap set to come out since I got into the hobby last year, as it combines my passion for and professional career in fitness with my love for the keyboard hobby. The color combo aside, the selling point that defines a niche theme set like this as a fitness theme comes down to the novelties as well as the artisans IMO, but unfortunately they just don’t work for me personally as it seems they’re geared towards a very different audience than your traditional fitness enthusiast like myself.  The artisan seems to be a major miss as well, as there were many fun fitness related things that could have been done there (I’m thinking something in the shape of a dumbbell, a 45 lb plate that loads onto a barbell, or something else that’s creative yet still is instantly recognizable as something fitness related).  I don’t personally see any connection to a fitness theme with the artisan, unless I’m missing something?  Is the grid pattern supposed to be mimicking the grip pattern on a barbell?  If it is, it’s not remotely obvious at first and just looks like a geometric pattern of sorts.

With all that said, I truly wish you all the best on this keycap set! Even though it upsets me to say that it’s not for me personally, I would love nothing more than to see this be a success for you!  I’m sure there are many out there who this set really speaks to and who will love it.  Good luck with the GB, and I’ll definitely share it with anyone I know who I feel would probably really like it.

There is no point addressing anything you have mentioned right now but I will try to put some stuff into perspective.
The pink accent was chosen because it fit the theme well and not for really adding any feminine tough to the set. Personally I like pink and wear them as well. Its more of a preference.

Regarding the novelties, we did 2-3 iterations based on the interest check form to come to this final conclusion. Almost all major novelties were redone based on the suggestions from the form.
But do understand, this theme is quite niche and very hard to pull off atleast from the artwork point of view. There are so many relatable things and only a few slots to put them on. So there is always a chance that there will be things that dont make it.

The Hibi artisan represents the knurls/ grips on the bars and dumbbells.

Thank you for your kind reply, and I’m also glad you understood the positive way my comments were meant and didn’t get upset by anything I said (as that was not at all my intention). I can understand & appreciate that the fitness niche is not an easy one to pull off on keycaps as a theme, so I give you a lot of credit for taking on this project & following your own intuition in the design process.

I agree pink can complement blue well as a contrasting color, & isn’t necessarily just a feminine color. I just personally feel it looks a bit feminine in the case of this particular combo, especially when combined with many of the novelty key designs, but at the same time the colors do go well together. The color combo actually reminds me of a set I really like called Devoted, though that uses a lilac instead of pink).

I hope to see more fitness themed keycap sets in the future, as I’ve been waiting for a set like this to buy for some time. I also get why you went with the knurled grip on barbells as the artisan design & I’m sure it looks & feels even better in person, as photos don’t always do artisans justice.

Again, I really respect the amount of time and effort that clearly went into making this design, and I hope you didn’t take anything I said negatively, as I’m really rooting for you & this GB to be a success.
