Unusual Alps keyswitches - what are these things?
« on: Thu, 27 May 2021, 13:07:18 »
Since I've been getting into Alps stuff, I recalled that I have a laptop keyboard from a late-80s/early-90s Toshiba Tandy laptop from an aborted project which was Alps-branded.

Popped off the keys, and... wtf?

The keycaps themselves seem totally compatible with the common Alps mount keyswitches (SKCM, etc.) - pictured are some of them on my AEKII (where they look... rather weird).

The keyswitches themselves appear somewhat nonstandard. I trolled around Deskthority to no avail. Any idea what type of keyswitches these are?

The caps seem pretty nice. Doubleshot, with a lovely texture. I may offer them up for sale or trade in future for someone doing an Alps 60/65% build.

Bumping this because I have a theory. Could these be white SMKs with Alps mounts?

https://deskthority.net/wiki/SMK_Alps_mount

The board itself is branded Alps... would these switches ever be on a genuine Alps board?

I think that’s it! They’re very linear… nice and quiet.
