There sure seems to be a lot of risk here.
Totally unknown manufacturer, not widely tested yet (previous group buys have shown testing as part of a group buy is a horrible idea and almost always leads to major delays), no PayPal in case things go badly, maybe you have to click the link but I see no photos either.
I'm all about having the best magical switches but everyone coming up with their own flavor and charging crazy prices is really getting out of control.
You concern is fair enough.
I am looking into adding PayPal back to the fray, however as stated previously i have had some issues with them and so has 27. This included poor communication and mismanagement on their part. (I was given notifications by them that didn't match what was actually wrong) This resulted in a large some of money being Frozen until February with my previous group buy, results in me paying out of pocket to ship everything out.
From the samples we have received we would have felt comfortable reselling those alone, however we decided to further the switch. Realistically, the testing phase is no more than a confirmation that the final product is perfect as most of the work has been done between us and the manufacturer.
The manufacturer is definitely new, however has shown competency when dealing with us in both communication and general understanding of the state of mechanical keyboards.
As for the price I think it's fair enough, we lowered it as much as to what we though was reasonable for 110 switches, the price pays for the custom work done for the switch. We are not Cherry, we can't simply pump out a million switches, the supply nor demand is there. It's quite hard financially to produce a switch.
Renders of the product are available on the website. I will upload a video of the prototype demonstrating switch wobble etc in the morning.
I aim to stay as transparent as possible with the groupbuy, remember, if there is a **** up its on my head, I really don't take them lightly. Which brings me onto my next point.
Timing. I take this issue pretty seriously and anyone who has worked with me know I can be a bit of an ******* when things get behind scheduling. It is 100% in my interests to ship everything as fast as possible, not only does it make me and my business look better, but it also helps with consumer trust.
I hope this helps to clear anything up. If there are any other questions feel free to ask away!
