awesomeness
Hi sprit or anyone who is kind enough to help a noob (I have never build a custom keyboard before). Sorry I have a lot of questions.
I want to get a TKL ansi 1.25 regular QFR layout with ergo clear switches.
MX Custom Springs 55g / 60g / 65g / 68g / 70g : 110pcs = 8 USD
* What spring should I get for ergo-clear feel? Or do I have to get red/brown springs separately?
* Where can I get the tool to open up the cherry switches to mod the spring and lube?
Dupont KryTox 104 Oil 20g bottle = 18 USD
* This 20g oil will be enough for building 1~2 TKL keyboards?
PolyAcrylic 5mm 15 USD
PolyCarbon 4mm CNC 35USD
Alu Metal 1.6mm CNC 35 USD
Alu 4mm CNC 40USD.
* This is the most confusing part, as I only have QFR cherry and I have never opened it up.
Besides the feel (hard plate vs flex), will the different thickness make the keycap lower or higher than normal?
What would be an ideal plate to get for people who always bottom out. (and what would feel similar to filco or QFR?)
* To build this keyboard myself, besides ordering everything from the form, I still need stabilizer, inserts, keycaps. That's it right?
Since the resistors and controller are soldered on, I just need to get a soldering iron to solder the clear switches onto the PCB/plate?
* Someone asked earlier in this thread but no one answers his question, if one were to get the LED as well, would it make it impossible to change the switches later on without desoldering?
* Also the aluminum case will be available after this group-by and ship separately?
I'd go all out and get the aluminum case instead of getting the plastic case if possible.
Thanks.
